    Hello Post2Post! So I grew up in the Worcester area and its pronounced like “wister “ . Just a couple years ago, they were called the sharks and they were the AHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks. Before that from 1994-2005, the building housed a team called the “IceCats” and were the affiliate of the St. Louis Blues, The Senators and the NY Islanders. They were extremely popular during this time. Unfortunately with each change in team, they have lost support which explains the curtains covering the seats they can’t fill. Thank you for the great content, keep up the great work guys!!

    I'm glad yall like the Norfolk Scope Arena! A lot of history with the Norfolk Admirals. That 2012 team won 28 games straight in one season. Most ever by a North American hockey team. They swept the conference and Calder Cup finals as well. Over half the team went on to play in the NHL. As well as Jon Cooper the Lightning's head coach. Unfortunately the Ducks bought the team and moved them to San Diego. Now we're stuck with an ECHL team that has big management issues.

    I played hockey as a teenager on both sheets of ice (mostly Scope). To me, Hampton had very good ice. Just seemed faster. I miss seeing both buildings. Very nice to this day. Haven't been back in Virginia since the mid 70s when both buildings were pretty new. It was great back then with the AHL Wings at Scope and SHL Gulls at Hampton. Both teams fun to watch.

    Marc Methot was very right when he said you know there’s a goal when the Admirals score. You literally can’t hear yourself screaming and clapping and everyone gets into the mood and starts the hey you suck chants. We love our team. I remember playing on that ice one and meeting so many players so many times that are now in the NHL, like Gibson, Freddy Andersen, Maroon, Wagner, Killorn, etc. And you know we were ecstatic after the 2012 Calder Cup championship, 8 straight wins, sweeping the Ice Caps then Marlies in the Conference Final and Final, which was after their historic season in which they had a 28 game winning streak mid-to-late season. That was when they were AHL. Be careful if you have a hockey stick in your hands when one of the mascots, Hat Trick, is around because he’ll try to steal it. The other mascot, Salty, won’t steal it. Great vid and Let’s go Pens, Baby Pens, and Norfolk Admirals!

    The reason the Toledo Walleye Don’t have a score clock is because it is a multipurpose arena but for example they do Monster jam and the monster trucks would hit the clock. But on the other side there is a huge screen.

    The one at 23:08 is Worcester! You pronounce it "Wuh-ster"! That's where the now San Jose Barracuda played when they were the Worcester Sharks, until they moved. The Sharks played in Worcester from 2006-2015. Now the Railers play there. I never went to a Sharks game at the DCU Center but I'm hoping to see the Railers play there in the future. I saw Holy Cross play there (the College of Holy Cross), who usually play at the arena on their campus, but played at the DCU Center one night so that's the first and only time I've been there. I live not too far away so it's nice having a professional hockey team back in the city!

    Some more info on the Huntington Center, where the Walleye play: Its true, there’s no score clock! On the other side of the rink that you can’t see in the picture there’s a huge screen for replays and other things. The goal horn is incredibly unique! On the screen side, they’ve mounted a refurbished freighter horn off the S.S. Willis B. Boyer, and it is REALLY loud! Lastly, it’s always packed (the center is also used for events and concerts) and it’s the best place to watch a game!

    I've played at the wings arena a few times. It's not even just an arena. There are like three rinks and there's a rink just for curling too. There's a lot in there but it's quite old. David Fraser I had seasons tickets the year we won the Calder cup. It was an amazing time, it’s just our management has made some boneheaded decisions, and I haven’t had seasons tickets for a few years a now.

    Neil the reason the Solar Bears Arena is so large is because they share that Arena the Amway Center with the Orlando Magic of the NBA so it’s supposed to hold large crowds for basketball not hockey and that’s also why the upper deck was curtained off

  • @sportsgames2713
    @sportsgames27136 жыл бұрын

    The Orlando Solar Bears Arena ( Amway Center ) is so big because the Orlando Magic ( NBA Team ) plays in that arena. So that Arena can hold almost 19,000 when the 300 Level is not curtained off.

    10:56 fyi that is a VERY old picture of the arena. Everything inside has been updated and upgraded, seats, scoreboard and everything. This picture was not taken during an Icemen game, also. Im an season ticket holder to the Icemen.

    The Huntington Center in Toledo is an awesome venue. The fanbase is awesome too the playoff games this year have all been sellouts even regular season games are packed most nights. I don’t know about a lot of other fanbases for the ECHL but from what I’ve seen this year other teams don’t fill the arena like Toledo does. The only downside to the Huntington Center is the seats are cramped together so if you have long legs or have wider hips the seats are very uncomfortable.

    Okay Neil I have to defend my Utah Grizzlies. There arena is called the maverik center (Utah business). There are 2 scoreboards right off the side of the picture and a bigger screen. And this center is the place where Canada beat the USA in the gold games when the Olympics happened in 2002.
