Most of these Ghost trails have quite burly ‘trail filters’ right at the start of them…….which…..common sense prevailing of course……should indicate to the family riders that sh*t is gonna get really real really quickly so maybe stick to the lower trails and be happy 😂…….common sense prevailing tho 😉🤣

There are so many trail choices in the Wellington region it beggers belief why someone is creating these ghost trails.

The type of trail a few of these ‘ghost’ trails are there isn’t that many around that match them. Yes there is a handful around like the triplets at Whynui,OCD, Verts,Trickle,YG and TopaTopa but for those out those ways in particular there has been zero. So that is why there are these trails now being built to service those that seek the more difficult terrain as opposed to the fambam style trail old mate from the bike shop seems so intent on.

Are you really that dense @skybluenz? You seem to be interested in mountain biking but don't seem to understand that those that are good at it, want challenging trails.. Sure, there's others in the region, and it would be nice to think that trails are built through proper channels. But with that promise of sanctioned trails being built, going unfulfilled for the last 5 plus years, it's not surprising they're getting built now, illegally, close to where people live. And you know what, they're damn good trails - people are coming to Porirua to ride now. Why doesn't Porirua City Council be the bigger person here and take something bad and turn it into an asset. Make the mountain bike community offset the damage done through volunteer planting elsewhere on the hill, at a larger scale with better protection - there's plenty of scope for enhancement on the hill, and trails that could put some money into local businesses. Since you don't seem to know much about mountain biking in Wellington, have a look at Makara or Waimaipahi for examples where the mountain bike community have created ecological havens for vulnerable wildlife. Now we just need to get rid of cats. Hopefully you don't own one.

@@Covesurfer - wow - I must have really got your goat with such a long and detailed reply. I tried reading it but fell asleep around the third or fourth line. I'll head off to my little green trails and leave the double black diamond ghost trails to a roughty toughty mtb'er like you.

@skybluenz you need to hook into NACTs reading and education plan, one day you might be able to read a book. This is a dream, but might help with your ability to think criticality too.
