That's the main reason I didn't end up going to university even after I was accepted, paid the deposit, was assigned a roommate, and scheduled orientation. Because I was still a minor (16yrs old) none of the places that normally do student loans would allow me to take out the loans in my name to go - they would have been in my dad's name (more than $27,000 per year) and it wasn't my father's responsibility to pay for college for me. I was frustrated and heartbroken at the decision, but that was reality.
