Looe (Cornwall) by Drone in 4K - The Location of TV Series Beyond Paradise

We took the #drone to Looe, a beautiful amazing coastal town in Cornwall. It was a bit overcast, I think the footage would have looked a lot better on a bright sunny day, however it was nice and warm with no wind. I would move to Looe at the drop of a hat, I love the place!
Looe, a picturesque coastal town in southeast Cornwall, is a blend of scenic beauty, rich history, and vibrant community life. Divided by the River #looe into East and West Looe, the town offers a captivating mix of bustling harbor areas, quaint narrow streets, and tranquil residential zones. East Looe, with its lively harbor, is a hub for tourists, featuring a variety of shops, restaurants, and pubs. In contrast, West Looe offers quieter, more residential surroundings with stunning views of the harbor and coastline.
The town's main beach, with its fine sand and safe swimming conditions, is a popular destination for families and beachgoers. For those interested in hiking and exploring, the South West Coast Path provides breathtaking walks along the rugged coastline, offering panoramic views and opportunities to discover hidden coves and wildlife. Looe Island, also known as St. George's Island, is a nature reserve rich in wildlife and history. Accessible by boat, the island offers guided tours that allow visitors to explore its unique ecosystem and historical sites.
Looe’s fishing industry remains a vital part of the local economy, with the fish market being one of the busiest in Cornwall. Visitors can enjoy the freshest seafood, with many local restaurants serving dishes prepared from the daily catch. Traditional Cornish cuisine, including pasties and cream teas, is widely available, providing a delicious taste of the region's culinary heritage.
Tourism is a cornerstone of Looe's economy, attracting visitors with its scenic charm and recreational activities. Boat trips around the bay, fishing charters, and water sports are popular activities. For those interested in local culture, the Old Guildhall Museum and Gaol in East Looe offers insights into the town’s maritime history and smuggling past. Looe also hosts several annual events, such as the Looe Music Festival, which draws musicians and visitors from far and wide, and the Looe Literary Festival, which celebrates literature and local authors.
The town’s historic architecture adds to its charm. Notable landmarks include the Banjo Pier, which provides panoramic views of the coastline and harbor, and the Old Sardine Factory, a 16th-century building now repurposed as a heritage center and restaurant. Walking through the narrow, winding streets, visitors can admire the well-preserved buildings that reflect Looe’s rich past.
Environmental conservation is a priority in Looe, with efforts to protect its natural habitats and marine life. The Looe Marine Conservation Group plays an active role in preserving the coastal environment through community projects and educational initiatives. The town’s commitment to sustainability is evident in its clean beaches and well-maintained natural areas.
Looe’s accessibility is another draw for tourists. The scenic Looe Valley Line railway connects the town to the mainline at Liskeard, providing picturesque journeys through the Cornish countryside. Local bus services offer convenient transportation within Looe and to nearby attractions.
Overall, Looe’s combination of natural beauty, historical significance, and vibrant community makes it a standout destination in #cornwall
Whether enjoying the local food, exploring the scenic landscapes, or participating in cultural events, visitors to Looe are sure to find a wealth of activities and experiences that showcase the best of Cornish life.
"Beyond Paradise," a TV series filmed in Looe, Cornwall, brings the picturesque coastal town to life on screen. The series, a spin-off of the popular show "Death in Paradise," follows DI Humphrey Goodman, played by Kris Marshall, as he relocates from the Caribbean to the charming, idyllic setting of Looe. The show's stunning cinematography captures Looe's scenic beauty, from its bustling harbor and sandy beaches to the narrow, historic streets. It is an amazing place, I love it there, want to live there, near the sea but in the countryside at the same time. There is a beautiful house on the river, a bit further away from the town but it's a dream!
