Hey T90.... Wow.... Imagine my surprise when I've got an Episode of LEL on in the background while at work and I suddenly hear my name... Captain Kingsmill.... and I learn that not only did you stream my game, but that I made it to KZread. The most bizarre thing is I couldn't remember at the start if I won or not (although the loss came flooding back to me as the game went on), so this was a bit of a roller-coaster for me, from sucessfully defending his early game push, to then being on the backfoot against his castle on the hill... to then ALMOST pushing through with my final attack, but then ultimately falling back and losing the game. Wild ride. I watch a lot (if not all) of your videos, and lives when I can... and the humbling thing about watching this is, when I watch them and think 'I would never make THOSE mistakes'.... and hear I am... making those very mistakes. It was painful to watch my fishing ships idle for as long as they did before traps, it was painful to watch me not replace my scout and scout the map to find the gold, and painful to watch 20 villagers sit there doing nothing for 15 min after finishing their gold while I focused on nothing but the front line. - all while also missing him destroy my TC... and that's just a few of the horrors, there were many more. You're not wrong, I was pretty salty after this L I feel bad for the no GG.... There's a chance I just straight up closed the game in a salty mess, at the time I felt I was the better player with a better strategy, but after watching this video, it's clear that the better player won! but if you're still offering that billion dollar rematch in a year, I'll take it ;) Big learning experience for me, Thank you for your compliments and your criticisms, I will take them on board ... I may even play a civ other than Brits one day.... Keep up the content, hopefully next time you stream a game of mine it will be a big W for me. Cheers, CK

I play on HD edition against my dad. It’s very fun, and I very often win. But the bad thing about winning against him, is that he never resigns. I remember one game, I was scouting the whole map trying to see if he had one unit or building that was keeping him alive for 10 minutes. Until finally, I noticed a single moving dot on the mindmap. (I had spies) I went to look at what it was. *It was a trading cart.* He was using his marketplace, and training trading carts and sending them all over the world. The absolute animal. I was playing britons and didn’t have any calvary, and only had longbowmen and trebuchets, so I had to send out small groups to hunt these carts down individually.

One of the most frustrating games ever, Evil Genius, actually had this exact mechanic.. only trained units could train other units.

Interesting that red is adding ships, but a few minutes in actually has fewer eco units, because they're not adding vils as consistently.

20:20 You definitely need base defenses in both Starcrafts, especially Starcraft Brood War/Remastered... It's easier to deathball in AoE 2 than it is in Brood War for several reasons, one being that you can only select 12 units in one control group. Another reason is that pathfinding is abysmal, worse than AoE 2, and the extremely common ramp chokepoints in BW maps make it even worse. Narrow ramps are part of nearly every modern map design and bridges are fairly common too. Units constantly bump into each other, including allied units, and require frequent micro to even keep together in a group, if you even have the space to do that. There is also no 'select all military units' button in brood war, let alone being about to select more than 12 units at once, even though the pop cap is essentially the same as AoE 2 (200/200 with only ~65 max workers, but many army units take up more than 1 pop space).

If there was an Arabia kind of map for Starcraft, the playstyle would look very strange to the average match. Like trying to imagine setting up Minerals like they were sparce woodlines would feel like a huge Terran Buff. If I was using Starcraft 2 to make an Arabia, I'd probably put a lot of those destructible objects they like to put on choke points in place of the usually invulnerable terrain aspects.

Honestly I feel Blue is the better player because while meta and strat does play a part, aggression imo is an even bigger indicator.

Blue's gameplan has no nuance whatsoever though. Like in what way are they gonna improve? Choose a different unit to mass? Red is making counter units, is making TCs, is making fishing ships; whereas blue is making villagers out of 1 TC and massing 2 random types of units before attacking with fingers crossed no strategy whatsoever. Red will improve steadily as their APM improves. Blue has 0 decision making, 0 strategy, 0 nuance - they're a 1 trick pony. I don't mean to talk down or praise either player, but I can't for the life of me disagree more with the sentiment that blue is the player who'll improve faster.

@@edmis90 talk about Cherry picking lol. Red had idle vills, tunnel vision, terrible early game aggression, no production, also, red was not making counters. He hard stacked into longbows and archers with a couple of long swords. Didn’t get champion, kept making longbows wasting gold (btw no gold income for half the game) and dying to huskarls which are a literal archer counter. Could mini-switched into knights or scouts to deal with the huskarls or champion but didn’t as he was too tunnel visioned. He also lost an entire TC + vills that he just ignored or forgot about.

@@sirius_solarisnot to mention that Red had like 450 more games than Blue lol. If Blue had that many games under his belt this game would’ve been over in half the time.

I love that Blue's strat is basically just "make units". He's the less experienced player by far, and the stereotype is that new players never attack until they have their big army, but here's this guy whose just going to make stuff without worrying about matchup or counters: he's Goths, the label says infantry civ, he's going to make infantry.

I absolutely love the idea of picking two low elo legends and letting them train for a year knowing that they have to do a best of five at the end for, I don’t know, like $20k.

Yes blue does seem like a stacraft or other rts player, the way he splits the skirmishers in the attack when TC goes to half hp, plus the way he goes about the game. Ive played sc2 at decently high amateur level and im frustrated at how hard it seems to deny scouting or being aggressive. I might just try some aggro, seems very fun 😁

Also that side raid is pretty SC 2 like. Cue just some basic tier unit to harass a mineral line.

Loved this game with both infantry and some ranged units. Goths are beastly production wise and blue played well. gg wp!

Decided to try to play online today after watching a lot of low ELO legends. Ended up winning. I'm still in ranked but these low ELO videos are like a play book of what not to do with helpful tips on how to succeed.

Question: How many times do you guys inadvertently touch your mouse to the edge of the screen to try move the screen? 😄

Goths are hell of a drug for low elo legends

Really want to see a pro game that highlights infantry changes where you break down how the changes have altered the meta

Blues building style reminds me of how the game builds for you on console and his mechanics, very non micro focused with the vills as well

My favorite strategy is to send my scout and starting villagers to the corner of the map and build a lumber camp and then wait for the enemies to resign

If this was against a younger me, I'd probably wouldn't notice until I would advance 2 ages ahead. "Wait, where's my opponent? Did I build this defensive Barracks for nothing?" I wasn't very proactive with scouting.

i think he builds infantry + javelin throwers because that's how the goths fought. would be cool

I think that's what community games are kinda. But the more involved you get with the community, the more you learn about counters, economy, and build orders.

I was around 1000-1200 elo when I was playing.. 3-4 years ago. If I'd start over now I'd probably be with those guys or even lower 🤣 I think the playerbase improved a lot when Definitive Edition came out with the tutorials

If you did palisade walls angled toward the TC, cheaper, you would force feudal military to run into the TC fire. That’s why this solution seems suboptimal. I wouldn’t house a woodline more than that unless MAA were trying to break in and u could just house wall behind the damaged palisade.

Starcraft actually has just as much focus on eco as AoE2. It's simpler with just two resources, but games are often decided by who can macro better and control more resource patches

red had nearly 10x as many games as blue but blue steamrolled. I guess that's the difference between aggressive and defensive playstyles.

I feel like t90 fluctuates on how much he values fishing. On the map “coastal” he doesnt seem to think its worth it, even though there is lots of fish and its just a little further to walk. But in this vid he states how you should always fish if there is water.

"Coastal Forest" is the weird exception to early docking because you start incredibly close to your opponent and there's a lot of other food on the map. Yes, you can dock to get an eco lead, but the wood cost and down time in walking out there can put you behind on a map with high amounts of early aggression. That's really the only map with water that I've seen T90 say to not worry about docking, and even then, it's good to add later.

if blue is a SC2 player: they're a Zerg. Protoss plays very defensives and closed up, whilst Terrans are raiding more so than full on assault. If blue is a SC:BW player: they're a Protoss player. Protoss just mass 2 basic units and attack whenever, whilst Terran are defensive and Zerg are ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ idk really but they've strategy and gameplan. I could see blue being a SC:BW Protoss player, but not much else honestly. I'd think a SC2 Zerg player would instinctively want many town centers.

Hello. Captain Kingsmill here :) I like to think this was a particularly bad start even for me. not replacing my scout and scouting his base. Not consistently producing vills, totally ignoring my second TC.... amongst many other things. I've learned a lot from having T90 stream one of my games, it has humbled me, I'm nowhere near as good as I thought I was.

@@praevasc4299 no, not at all... Having watched the video myself, your critisim is well justified. - as was T90's during the game. Leaving villagers idling for 5+ min, completely neglecting my second tc, and failing to produce more vills....fatal errors and boy don't I know it. The weirdest thing about this whole experience is leaving the game salty wondering how on earth I lost feeling my strategy was better.... And then seeing this, and realising exactly why and how I lost... It's very humbling.

That's funny, I grew up playing star craft and I want to disagree but my AOE style is literally just build all over the map and spam multi prong attacks from all directions xD

l feel that saying GG lost its meaning, when the etiquette says that you have to say it theory after EVERY MATCH. That is one reason l don't play online.

I would consider 800 low elo, 900-1200 avarage elo, above that people are really good and you'll never get at that elo without putting an effort into learning the game. Don't be afraid to play, the matchmaking in 1v1 is really good, you will never get the feeling that you're facing someone way better than you, it's like every game is winnable, in team games though the matchmaking are a little more unfair but it's still good enough. Usually, in my experience playing and watching a bunch of games (I started at 1000 and now I'm 1400), there's a big difference between 200 elos, like people at 600 would be destroyed by 800 elo, 800 would be by 1000, 1200 by 1400, 1300 by 1500, and so on until like 1900, 2100 where the skillgap is more close despite the elo.
