That audio... and that graphics... just goes to show the power of the CD!
This is my first time seeing gameplay of Sonic CD. As a reminder, I’ve only seen the opening and ending movies thanks to the Sonic collection on GameCube in 2002. It’s amazing to see this is where Metal Sonic and Amy Rose made their debut alongside bringing some mechanics from Sonic 2 into the first. Heavily impressed, I’d love to play this in the future!

to think they would make a game and TV series based on that title.
this is the game where both Metal Sonic and Amy Rose debut. although Amy looks very different from the design we see her in now. plus this is how her and Sonic met and her mind, it was love in first sight.
Man this game is just too cool.
A master piece. Sega genesis /mega drive was the console for me. Thought it was nostalgia but seeing this game reinforces my belief.

@@lidiarodrigues1866 Hi, cat
I know this may sound crazy, but I consider this as a midquel to the first 2 Sonic games. This took place after the events of the original Sonic game and before the events of Sonic the Hedgehog 2. But on the plus side, at least fans who were lucky enough to have a Sega CD get to play this game while waiting for Sonic 3 to come out.
@thisisaloadofbarnacles

That’s not far fetched at all actually. In fact, Yasushi Yamaguchi from Sonic Team stated that this timeline possibly takes place between those two games. Though, Naoto Oshima doesn’t view it as a sequel, but rather a re-imagining of Sonic 1. Given that this game is built off the first game instead of the second entry, however, Sonic CD would definitely be the 1.5 game.

If only the level design wasn’t as questionable as it ended up being, I would have liked this.

@@RetroGameSpacko yet some people are saying it’s the hidden gem of classic sonic games, this could actually be the worst sonic game due to its level design that feels like they just put a bunch of random objects and enemies together, and you don’t even get a reward for collecting all 7 time stones, just a good ending, yeah the same goes for sonic 1, but at least you need to get only 6 chaos emeralds instead of 7 time stones.
I like the part of sonic taking on metal sonic. This is my favorite boss level 54:05
Nice good play
45:18 I would never have figured out how to destroy that robot teleporter on my own. 😵💫
I dont know how it works on the sega cd, but playing on an emulator, which can generate as many save files as i want, i managed to play entirely, from the begining all phases(all versions)! since there are 4 diferent versions of each phase, it was like 80 phases or so...Crazy game, never seen anything so elaborate as this😮😮😮😮
I never played the original since I didn't have a Sega CD or a copy of the game. Only got to try this game thanks to Sonic Gems Collection. Everytime I use the "Time Travel" mechanic, I have a habit of saying "Chaos Control" due to having played Sonic Adventure 2 Battle on the GameCube. Each time I played the game I'd ALWAYS aim for getting the Time Stones but I never bothered to go after those Badnik Generators since I preferred to let the Time Stones help me make Good Futures and get the good ending.

This is a masterful run. No deaths, only took damage 4 times, 3 in Metallic Madness Act 3 and one of those 3 was just losing the shield. Accessed every special stage wherever possible, beat every special stage on the first try, used the past/future dynamic in every act possible and got a good future in every act in the game. Then you schooled us in the sound test after the game and unlocked all the easter eggs. Oh, and you beat the secret special stage with Robotnik's giant head. One which I swear I played during the regular campaign yet you didn't. Those UFOs dive and dart out of your way every time, used to drive me insane.

actually no, I'm 40. I already thought that back then. I mean, come on, many parts look like some kid got his hand on the level edit cheat and just ragingly added stuff to the level. Rings floating in walls and stuff like that. This game was clearly rushed.
@demetriuskafkoulas5005
3 жыл бұрын
@@RetroGameSpacko Sonic 2 also had moments where rings are located in walls because the level layouts were changed from the betas, and the development time didn't allow them to edit out the rings. Also, I never understood this argument about levels feeling like they were designed by idiotic kids with no effort put into their designs. Okay yeah, wacky workbench is abysmal and stardust speedway is a convoluted mess, but no levels felt absolutely careless in design. I always considered palmtree panic, some sections of collision chaos, tidal tempest, quartz quadrant, and metallic madness act 1 to be really enjoyable when exploring and getting a good future on them, and i can see a lot of effort being placed into their structures to make exploration and backtracking fun.

As much as Sonic CD is a bit of a different style of gameplay, what with exploration and such, if the way these stages were designed had been how the original Sonic the Hedgehog's later stages were, I think people would look at the first Sonic much more fondly. As it is now, Sonic 1 really only contributed Green Hill Zone to fan favorites.

As a longtime fan, Sonic CD has one of my all-time favorite Sonic themes but I always found it a wasted opportunity that "Sonic Boom" was never expanded into a full song with more lyrics. This is my attempt at that, revising certain lines while adding new ones. Feedback is welcome, enjoy: 🎵 (Opening instrumental) When you run, you can fly You can reach the other side of the rainbow 🌈 It's all right, take a chance 'Cause there is no circumstance that you can't handle When you use your mind Sonic Boom, Sonic Boom, Sonic Boom (Trouble keeps you runnin' faster) Sonic Boom, Sonic Boom, Sonic Boom (Racin' to resolve disaster) Sonic Boom, Sonic Boom, Sonic Boom (Show 'em, where there's speed, there's power) Sonic Boom, Sonic Boom, Sonic Boom (Save us in our bleakest hour) (Instrumental) Through the dark to the light It's a super Sonic flight Gotta keep it goin' Gotta rock when you roll Let the music take control Keep the rhythm flowin' Ready for a ride? Sonic Boom, Sonic Boom, Sonic Boom (Trouble keeps you runnin' faster) Sonic Boom, Sonic Boom, Sonic Boom (Racin' to resolve disaster) Sonic Boom, Sonic Boom, Sonic Boom (Spinnin' through a world in motion) Sonic Boom, Sonic Boom, Sonic Boom (Failure ain't even a notion) (Intermediary instrumental & guitar solo) 🎸 Time is now, you can't hide Find the power deep inside and make it happen (Make it happen) Bring it on if you dare If you think that I'll despair, then you better strap in As I turn the tide Sonic Boom, Sonic Boom, Sonic Boom (Trouble keeps you runnin' faster) Sonic Boom, Sonic Boom, Sonic Boom (Racin' to resolve disaster) Sonic Boom, Sonic Boom, Sonic Boom (Show 'em, where there's speed, there's power) Sonic Boom, Sonic Boom, Sonic Boom (Save us in our bleakest hour) (Ending music) 🎵
