I loved this part the most with it’s fast turns and super sonic effects. But now after I replayed it I have to admit it has some big design flaws. There are many places on the tracks that will make your bike turn around 180° with the slightest hit. At many points you cannot avoid hitting the ceiling of a tunnel and even that can turn you around, too. And there are some serious FPS drops on the N64 version. But still it was super fun back then trying to beat some trackrecords. On some tracks it was even possible to keep the speed over the sonic barrier for the whole round! Again there are some super bikes and again you can only unlock new modes by NOT using them. But since I wasn’t going to play those extra modes I still used super bikes for the Meltdown leagues. There is also a Dual mode and a Mirror mode but both modes don’t add anything new to the game besides some developer faces on your drivers as a reward… From the extra game codes you can unlock I was really surprised about the Wipeout code. This code does not only change your bike into a flying Wipeout-like vehicle, it also changes the controls accordingly so it really feels like Wipeout. The Tron mode is also very nice.. Bro I always thought she said "multi golden science " me and my sis always thought that and I splashed her in the pool one time and said that and every since it's been a inside joke and until I read your comment I kept replaying it till I heard her drag the word out proper with the British accent or whatever it is. I know it’s “multiple missile” but as a kid I always heard “ multi-go-me-sigh-eee”. Never knew what it was, just thought it was some futuristic weapon lol 😂

How to play: This Game is a Racing Game with the BIKES! And they are REALLY FAST! The Bikes can go up to 900 GPH or so! Anyways heres how to play the game: The menus: Of course the MENUS! Always the MENUS! Anyways the menus here will have the following options: Single player: You can play any Courses you UNLOCKED by Playing Extreme Contests! And within those Courses, You will find Different Routes. Multiplayer Extreme Contest: Story Mode, Courses/Routes needs to be finished here to play them in SINGLE PLAYER! There are 5 modes: Atomic Settings Courses: They are set Fixed Layouts with main and Alternate Paths divided by the ROAD BLOCKS! You need to choose a different route to move the road block to the other Route you were on to go on that route. Route: There are 2 variety of ROUTES: Main: This Route is Always Fixed regardless of what Route you chose. Alternate: this is covered by a Road Block. Choosing a different route moves this block to the other Route you were on. As a kid I always heard "multi pulti sy", "water" instead of mortar (didn't help that it looked like jets of water shooting out) , and instead of rear fire rockets, "real fire rockets"... as opposed to those fake fire rockets... I guess British accents really fucked with me.

Played it yesterday for like an hour on my N64... Mainly physics are very wonky and the camera is uncomfortable. Any other Extreme G game is at least a decent introduction to the series.

@@alexl2475 I mean 3D gaming on consoles was new in the 90s. They had to create practices and methods that nowadays are the norm. There still are great quality racing games from that time anyways. Diddy Kong Racing and Crash Team Racing are both majestic examples. And also, tbf... Extreme G shines on post N64 games. I guess they needed that hardware to accomplish what the series is about: supersonic motorbikes. Like the N64 DOES TRY, just barely.

My older sister rented this game at blockbuster years ago I had a super hard time finding control figure button placement to know which button does what.

This game and/or the original Extreme G used additive blending (specifically , a mix of alpha and additive blending), which was unheard of for the Nintendo 64.

I miss F-zero and F-zero clones. Sure I enjoy games have bigger budgets and looking fancier now, but I miss all the dead genres.

We need this on Nintendo Switch Online! Please Nintendo.

This one was fun too, but I always preferred the graphics, most of the track layouts, and DEFINITELY the soundtrack of the first installment.

Even the "sense" of speed of the first was superior IMO

Remember the vs mode

Extreme G 1 was so much better when it comes to Audio in every aspect, the most annoying thing is in part 2 the engine sounds like a Yugo.

I always preferred the original Extreme-G to this one, the first really felt like you were going fast!

This one looks inferior.. The track design and camera is messed up.... the first one was out of control too but you always found your self after crashing or slowing down... this one looks awful

Loved this game and the music, but sucked as ass a kid. Came back many years later and killed this game on an emulator.

What does it say at 2.56.46 when you get the powerup before you get first place. It also says it another time in the beginning of the race. "Multi golden ion"? We always thought it said multi golden science lol it was a inside joke. Been tryin to find out forever ❤

may be a hardware limitation, using the same generic bike with a different color is a lot cheaper than a bunch of unique bikes with their own art and sound assets

1:28:54 That was simply by mistake, I just clicked and didnt look. From Meltdown on it's Medium. Didnt want to rerecord the first half because of it.
