    Damn, I’ve just bought a Qidian Pro, but I won’t be using it as frequently as you have, probably only once a month at this stage (until I retire in about 4 years). I’ve taken it on a few dry runs using a full size sleep pad in the back pocket and it’s been very comfortable. Looking forward to doing some overnighters soon in a local national park near me in Sydney. The lockdowns and rain events we’ve had here have really been a hindrance. Enjoying you channel.

    I bought the Nature Hike after watching many reviews including yours which was terrific. It has seen a lot of trail use this year and I too have had no issue at all with the quality or comfort. I have had mine slightly over 15kg but it really doesn't carry as well as some other packs at that weight but it's my fault and not theirs. They say what the limit is and if I chose to ignore them it's on me. The only one issue I have had with it was I thought about adjusting the hip belt and after trying to remove it from the velcro holding it down I noticed the velcro wasn't stitched as solid as I hoped and I could see it was coming away from the pack on one side a bit so I stopped and figure, if it seems to fit fine already, no sense trying something that may or may not improve the fit at cost of damaging the pack. I also bought I guess the updated one since it is made from a dyneema now but it looks the same and don't know if it makes much of a difference compared to the older one.

    Thanks for the vid, I've bought myself the Dyneema version and I love the fabric and the whole thing. Being a fat bloke there's just two things I wish were different. Firstly I'd love the chest strap to be 4 inches longer and most importantly it would be so good if they produced a longer belt, say up to 10" longer, so an XL belt, ideally the hip pads would be 3-4" inches longer and the strap an inch or two longer on each end. It would be so easy to offer this as an extra as the belt comes in and out so easily. I'll message NatureHike but I don't hold out much hope they will even answer.

  • @NoviceWildCamper

    @NoviceWildCamper

    Naturehike are normally pretty good at responding. The body measurements they show on the website are relatively small in comparison to what you get I think but obviously not designed for everyone. Depending where you are, there are a few companies out there that could make adjustments for you. If the hip belt was split then and additional velcro band stitched in it would extend it. Chest strap could easily be replaced too. Depends how far you want to go and spend really. Good luck 👍

  • @NoviceWildCamper

    @NoviceWildCamper

    11 ай бұрын

    The hip belts are designed to take the majority of the pack weight so it's not on your shoulders and back. That's why they're there. Sub 30l packs designed to take 4 or 5kg often don't have hip belts because they carry such little weight. I would check your weight and if its above 6 or 7kg I'd recommend using the hip belts tightly done to take the weight. You'll be doing your back and shoulders no good taking all the weight on them. 👍

    Good review and points to note. I'm a lover of the Osprey Exos the trampoline back system is perfect and really helps the sweaty back ! I get all my stuff in the 38 but it's more a 41 L as it's large as I'm the same height as you. I'd be struggling to want to buy any.other pack but Osprey the customer service is great with the life time warranty . I wouldn't mind a bit larger pack though for longer trips I have found this summer I did more multi days away from home and it would be less of a stress having to be si methodical packing and easier to fit more food. Do you find the side pockets can fit water bottles in securely and easy access without them dripping out ?... Also I presume you have the large size?

    Hi. Not sure if it will fit inside the side pockets but it has two compression straps each side that would certainly hold it. Personally if you wanted to pack it on the outside I would put it on the top as there are two tensioners that go over the roll top and that would probably be a better place to put it however you may then struggle to get the cover on if raining. 👍

    @@NoviceWildCamper cool, I've picked up a new 15D version of the Nature Hike Cloud Peak 2 in blue for £95 all in to go alongside my Yun Chaun. Hopefully for what I do I now have two tents that will sort me out. I've done a few mods to my Rock 60l+ so I might make a vid of those. Won't be the quality of yours which I have to say are looking spot on these days but anyway, I'll give it a go. Cheers.

    @@NoviceWildCamperI'm looking at getting a new bag, which would you recommend so far? I'm about to buy a bergahaus trailhead 65 as it's within budget, but these have excited my tastebuds! Not sure whether to take the plunge with one of those you mention!

    They're both good bags tbh. I've just done a recent 12 month review on the new qidian pro and put the video up last week if you want to watch that. Tough decision between these two and boils down to if you want framed or not but can't compare it to others as I don't know them well enough to differentiate the pros and cons.

    Definitely the katadyn befree. Had two sawyers before and they've not performed well. Katadyn has been excellent the last year of constant use. Great flow and easy to use and clean. Add to it the cnoc bag with 48mm thread for collecting water and its perfect. 👍

    Google cnoc vecto. 42mm sorry. It's a large 2 litre bag that great for collecting water and the katadyn befree filter screws directly on to it.

    I'm not sure as I only own the 60l. If you check Naturehikes website they have all the measurements on there or ali express. 👍

    What's the shortest back length you can get it down to by adjusting the hip belt? 16/17 inches possible??

    Not sure. I would have to measure it.

    Hi Catherine …. I’m 5-11” and I have mine set exactly in the middle of the Velcro pad …. From where the shoulder straps start to the middle of the hip belt is 18 1/2” … there’s about 3/4” adjustment either way … 17 3/4” to 19 1/4” … that’s one drawback with the Naturehike Rock series it really doesn’t work great for smaller stature people …. I would say 5’ 6” through to Mikes 6’ 2” is great so if you are in that range it will probably work for you 😄👍👍 ATB Dave Mc

    If people lost some weight, even a kilo or two, they'd be able to carry more stuff. I see lots of overweight outdoor folk doing these channels and complaining about carrying too much weight in their packs. Doh.

    Hope that's not a dig at me 🤣 but they all have to start somewhere. And generally though the bigger you are the more you can carry 🤷🏼‍♂️
