I didn't cry about Old Man Voll forgetting his wife but I did when he thought Frieren and her companions haven't defeated the Demon Lord yet. He is senile but only from time to time. It's recurring and it's just heartbreaking since it does happen when people get old.

yeah, that's why frieren doesn't tell him that demon lord have been defeated, because he'd lost his purpose, to protect the village from demons for his wife

I felt that so hard bc I have grandparents with dementia. It's truly heartbreaking when you think they're not that far off yet and then they say something to make you pause. Truly all you can do sometimes is nod and humor them bc there would be no point in trying to convince them otherwise, they'll forget either way.

Small things you may have missed. Fern and Stark are much closer to each other and can be seen talking and smiling alone together. Fern is no longer glued to Frieren alone during travels.

If Kraft ends up meeting Sein and maybe also his friend, I will sob. For him to learn that a statue of him and his friend inspired these two kids all these years later to be adventurers? Even though they didn't even know their names? I will be inconsolable 😂

Heroes names disappeares over millenia.. and kraft is a legendary hero.. probably hundred years ago people who remebered them are long passed..

@@erilove593 maybe he is that old.. but i suspect it just a few hundred years since kraft were part of a legendary duo heroes.. and frieren was basically a hermit for the past few hundred years since flamme roam the lands.. i doubt she even had any interactions with outside people during her hermit phase..

If you notice it kraft sword when he's being a hero before switch classes to monk are the same swords with the ones that stucks in stones So knowing that it can be bring new theory himmel unable to pull swords not because he's not eligible enough but it's because the holder of it's actually still alive and belong to him till he's gone.

Keeping the name of heroes “FOREVER” might be more difficult than you thought. Later generations might lose interest to care about those things, or when a certain news being spread the original truth just got twisted by people, or a war could break out and everything go chaos, or maybe a library is set on fire the all the names & knowledge in books just gone forever before someone can write them all down once again. Many things can happen. Some legends and folklore we know today might be different from their original form too. Because even they are once forgotten by their own people, until the clips of those story being dig out from earth again.

Kraft is older than Frieren so maybe he was a hero for more than a thousand years, during the mythical times.. Language and writing change as well so even if their names were etched, no one will understand.. The sculpture is made of stone as well not bronze..

8:15 I think that Frieren realizes that while befpre Voll faked senility now he truly is reaching the end and is starting to lose his memory. The way her hair blew I think signified the Wind of Change that you often see at some key points in anime. That's why she backed off about telling him the Demon King was already dead. ON THE OTHER HAND it COULD be prophetic in that with the Demon King's Castle being in the area the want to go to and at least some of the demons getting their powers back they may have to deal with the current and hopefully weaker Demon King.

Your idea of writing their names down in stone is a good idea. But as we see in reality, even these things get worn down by nature and people are not going out of their way to maintain it. We already saw how many Himmel statues were unkept. Kraft's statue would be even in worse condition.

History eats the names of all heroes mate, that´s the lesson here but the lesson is that their feats also can inspire and mold the people who come after even if the name fades away and only the story remains...I bet you yourself don´t know who ¨Diomedes¨, ¨Josiah¨ or ¨Sigurd¨ are...most people nowadays don´t after all we too are part of a world that forgets their heroes...

IRL, how many randos off the street can tell you about or care about anything that happened in the Revolutionary War or the War of 1812? And that was only about 250 years ago. Independence Day is just a day off work to watch fireworks with patriotic music playing over loudspeakers.

Just a theory but maybe before becoming a Monk, Kraft was indeed a warrior. Maybe after his Priest companion died, he decided to change career/path. With a lot of years, he definitely can choose to do so.

@@valentinsauvestre6466 Of course. I'm just saying that KZreadr seemed to have missed Old Man Voll's question and Frieren's reaction. Though I doubt Frieren was thinking so far ahead on this one. She simply didn't want to hurt her friend and didn't know how to break the news without hurting him. She also realized that she was rude, when she thought he was "mocking" her. It might have been her first time seeing someone she knew well losing memories due to passage of time and age.

Why didn't they write their name on the statue?? ... who says writing was even invented when they saved the world?? Let's say it was... let's parallel this to our world. Look at their clothes, they look like they're from Ancient Greece. Would it have mattered if a great hero from Knossos in Crete would have written his name on a statue in 2000BC?? We still haven't deciphered Linear A... But realistically most of the ancient writing systems were already forgotten a lot earlier, by the Roman Empire they were gone, we just relearned them in the past 150 years.

Even if they engraved the name, it would wear out over time and become unreadable without careful daily care. Himmel's bronze statue may be more durable but it is also susceptible to rust and damage from weather. The biggest mistake is that we are applying modern knowledge and technology to the world of Frieren, they do not have any chemicals or technology to restore these statues, not to mention: the language is also there are changes over time. Just one village migrating to another place or being destroyed by war is enough for a statue to go into oblivion.

Stark once said he doesn`t have much time before Eisen dies, after seeing old man Voll, I think Eisen will outlige Stark by at least a hundred years. So yes Stark, you have your whole lifetime to travel and tell Eisen stories.

I don’t want Sein Togo off on his own, but I also don’t want him to miss reuniting with his friend. I know that Frieren wouldn’t mind a little sidetrack. After all, she wanted to spend a whole decade hanging out with old man Voll. Stark hopes he can get back to Eisen before the end of his life, but I think that Fern won’t mind, as long as they aren’t stuck in the same place for too long. So far, that seems to be the only times she’s lost her patience with their situation.

ED overrated, imo. Not saying it's bad by any means, I just personally don't think it's THAT good lol. Listened to it once, then always skip it, like most ED's. Once the episode is done, I really can't be bothered to sit through any more unless there's a post credit scene that I'll skip to.
