I finally found someone as idiotic as I am about never wanting to quit, lol. I troll crankbaits this time of year and catch one after another. My favorite way to fish.

I recently subbed and enjoy your videos. Lots of great content and you really help teach your tactics. Good stuff! I am newer to Crappie fishing..a lot of our fishing on our lake is dock shooting as there are thousands of boathouses on our lake...but I would like to get into long lining like you did...do you ever use small planer boards or do you find them not necessary? Also, generally speaking, when is Long lining a good time (mid summer, spring, etc?) Thanks again!

I do use small planner boards at times. I love the Offshore Tackle mini planner boards for trolling crankbaits and jigs. I usually troll jigs and planner boards when the water temp. is in the mid to upper 60’s and above. Thanks for watching!

@@MikeBakerVideos.. Just found your channel and I gave you a sub... Never heard of having too many rods in a boat I'm from South Carolina and we don't have a limit on rods You can have as many out as you want as long as you fishing in a boat Now if you are on the bank fishing I think it's either two or three max you can have per person.. Good luck with your channel I'm going to check out some of your other videos in a little bit Take care 🇺🇲🦅🌍⚓ USMC

Another great video Mike, I always enjoy how you take us on each fishing journey with plenty of tips and instruction along the way. Question sir, are those crappies suspended in open water or are you trolling through trees? I don't see many trees on your trail. What's holding the fish in those areas? I fish mostly vertical over brush piles, but I'm thinking I need some new tactics. Appreciate any advice you could share on how to select an area on my home lake.

For the most part they were just suspended in open water feeding on baitfish.

Mike, what determines whether you choose long line or spider rigging? Water temp, time of year, etc......

Personal choice mainly but water temp plays a role with long lining.

Hey Mike I really enjoy your videos, this long lining has me really curious if it will work on the ozarks. We have been pulling crankbaits the last couple weekends doing pretty good. We have been graphing fish 15-20 fd. I’m not sure the jigs will get down deep enough. Also how do you like your floor material in your SeaArk I have a Procat 200. Keep up the good work buddy 👍🏼😉

Pulling jigs will work on LOZ. Use two 1/4 oz jigs and go 1.2 mph to get that deep. I love the floor material in my Sea Ark.

I haven’t tried long lining or using crank baits for crappie yet but I was looking at getting a setup to run crank baits. Would I be better off trying long lining? What are the benefits of both or what do you recommend? I’ll be mainly fishing lake of the ozarks.

All the crappie bit on different colors despite him trying to sell us fishing tackle. I have trolled crankbaits on a good crappie lake near me and have caught one crappie in about 12 or 13 hours of fishing. Last time all the fish hit on one bait. So color mattered that day or that bait trolled at the right depth.I don't believe color matters most of the time. Fish find food mostly by using lateral lines in their bodies to detect movement. So a bait that creates movement or disturbance in the water should catch more fish.
