When a squadron manned by convicts in barely functional jets ends up getting a gifted mechanic and an Ace pilot, and instead of getting taken out in scouting missions like One Pair/Two Pair, ends up sweeping the deck.

@@mr.commenter395 Tabloid too, he managed to hold his ground against two Sol pilots. Champ as well as he briefly gain the upper hand against Mihaly. Full Band, who managed to survive until Faceless Soldier and would have survived the mission, had he kept his mouth shut. High Roller ? He went down too early, but since he's a named character, he probably was decent pilot.

End of the day, you're not there to actually take out the base. Orders from above AWACS said to identify hostile Anti-Air assets, with the potential for just softening up the place for the main force. They mainly do this because a buncha convicts in aircraft aren't supposed to live this long against a military force. And yet, by sticking with Trigger, they make it.

@@theasker3666 Oh, I understand that entirely. I'm just saying what I would say if I was part of the 444 squadron, It wasn't meant to be taken too seriously. But now that I think of it, has Osea ever heard of force recon? Why is sending a penal unit by air necessary if you could have recon perform the same tasks by identifying targets for the regular forces without the risk of losing perfectly serviced planes? I get that warplanes are as cheap as cars in the AC universe but still. Oh well, we wouldn't have this cool mission if we were thinking that logically haha.

Also based on AC logic you kinda already know all enemy assets before the mission, you can see them all on briefing map and your HUD....so clearly some recon has been done beforehand making this "recon" mission redundant. It would be cool if the player needs to actually fly in and reveal the targets (like the SAM sites in the escort mission), especially those hidden in the valleys.

The idea was, for this mission, for you and the rest of Spare squadron to get shot at and act as a distraction while a main force handles the rest.

Still sad that the most welcoming member of spare squadron had to die in the second mission.

Too bad there isn't the possibility to save him. Could have been interesting to have him making less and less bets as the campaign progresses, and when the final mission begins, High Roller says "Table's closed, today."

You can actually save him from dieing but the dialog will say that he's dead, once saved and the death dialog passes, he'll just fly around in circles and something else, he won't fire missiles or machine guns at all. Edit: If a Drone tails him, he will die easily by one missile or just a single machine gun bullet.

The perfect music to pump you up for the first actually difficult mission. The rhythm guitars even come in right as you get in range of the first base 💖

had to replay this mission more than a dozen times with mig 21 bis machine gun only no damage ace difficulty playthrough. There's not even a single checkpoint for a whole 15 minutes. I cant imagine how difficult Siren's song will be.

I agree. The part at 00:17 going forward reminds me of the song playing during Deep Strike. The guitar and orchestra also remind of Siege of Farbanti.

@@SenseiRaisen yeah, im hoping multiplayer we get some coop modes so we can actually utilize CAS ( Close Air Support) the a-10c and f-15e are just sitting in my hangar collecting dust. same with their special weapons like the CBU-99 and MK82/ GBU-12 JDAM ect ect.

@@jackal1743 Reason we don't pick the A-10 and other attack-role aircraft is because we know there'll be a second part to those ground missions involving drones or whatever. There's just no point in using imo a great aircraft when the second part of the mission just shits on them.

I used the F15-E with SFFS myself. SFFS just seems to be stupid good if you get used to how to aim it.

I can bet this is the best songs of the game

High Roller, Champ and Full Band all deserved a better chance than what they were dealt with. I would give anything for the possibility to do in McKinsey and Bandog.

I got stuck on this mission but cleared it eventually. I didn't get frustrated, I enjoyed the banter, the music is awesome and letting intrusive thoughts come through and went through the tunnel it was awesome hearing they had dialouge for that, even if they said it 5 minutes later since the other squadron members were a bit chatty when I tried it.

2:03 to 2:49 i dont know if is a very a loud keyboard or violin im 50/50 on that

So funny that during the whole mission Trigger blows the shit outta everything whilst the Spare Squadron gets blown up and flees the scene like scaredy cats

I love this song, but I can't seem to get better than a C on this map. Last playthrough on Hard I barely edged the score limit by 200 points with 30 seconds left on the clock. 'Twas cool though. x3

Tip: Use aircraft with either the EML (F/A-18F, Su-33, X-02S), PLSL (F-15C, MiG-31, Su-57), or bombs-- especially the SFFS (Su-34, F-15E), and you'll make short work of the Roca Roja and the eventual swarm of MQ-99s, too. The F-15E is probably the ideal plane for this mission if you think about it. Raze the entire map with SFFS bombing runs, then go resupply and use 6AAMs to deal with enemy aircraft later.

Hit the airfield with the bombers first, hitting the F16s before they take off. Then go to the canyon but only bother with the warehouses, bridges, radar, tanks, choppers, and AV8 harriers. Then hit the far outpost, fly through the tunnel and kill the named ace, by then the UAVs should be there. Killing that wave and the following Gripens and Mirage 2ks should easily net you 10k. Take the F-15E or SU34 so you can actuallt dogfight.
