    @@tulsajeff I'm looking forward to it for sure! I went with the 24 x 40 offset. It should be a beast. I'm looking forward to getting this baby out the crate and smoking this weekend. Also, I went by your site (which I've been to before) sooo many bbq jewels on there, but I couldn't subscribe to your newsletter. Can you manually add me?

    Sounds like a beast for sure..let me know how it cooks. I can try subscribing you from my end.. occasionally they will block an email for some reason or another (it can be as simple as a word in your email address that they don't like). Send your email address to me at smoking-meat.com/contact-us and I will give it a try.

    Jeff, you didn’t seem to mention how to clean the interior of the smoker in this video. Is there a try that slides out for easy cleaning? This is one of the most important features I’m always looking at when thinking of buying a new smoker.

    The actual smoke chamber measures 24 inches front to back, The handles and folded shelf makes it 26.75 inches front to back if you're trying to fit it into a specific space.

    Lonestar builds some of the best smokers on the market. If you look at their welds, they look like a row of dimes. That's great welding and craftsmanship. The only other smoker that competes with it is by Shirley Fabrication our of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Their welding and craftsmanship is just as good as Lonestar. Both are GREAT smokers!

    Totally agree! I think those nice looking welds were one of the first thing I noticed on the LSG.. there are a few very well-known smoker manufacturers out there whose welds look like I did it (I'm not a welder unless you count that couple of times I got ahold of the acetylene welder in shop class back in 9th grade)😀

    I noticed from your video that I didn't see any type of opening from the Firebox where Smoke & Heat enter into the main cooking chamber. I watched it again and it almost appears that Lone Star Grillz forgot to cut the opening from the rear of the Firebox into the cooking chamber. I didn't see any opening from the Top View if the Firebox when you were shooting the video over the cooking grate when your son lifted the griddle plate. Might be hard to see the opening from the way you were shooting your video from the angles. Was just curious was all as you only showed the propane assist from inside the Firebox.

  • @tulsajeff

    @tulsajeff

    Brian, it's sort of hard to see even with your head in the firebox but there is an opening at the top of the firebox toward the smoke chamber where the heat enters and is directed upward into the smoke chamber via a vertical metal plate. This metal plate works really well to keep the heat even across each rack. The top rack runs hotter than the lower rack but it is consistent across the entire upper rack. Likewise the lower rack runs a little cooler but it is consistent across the entire rack. I'm really liking the way this thing cooks and moves heat and smoke so far.

    ...I watched the chuck roast video..glad you showed the firebox..that's not a stick burner...all you got there is a drum that smolders charcoal.....my first writing was cause I didn't think the vent opening in back was big enough to burn a fire...you otta send it back and ask them to send you one that burns wood for fuel...I'm surprised at you....ww...

  • @tulsajeff

    @tulsajeff

    4 жыл бұрын

    Wayne, Of course it's a stickburner.. I'm not sure why you'd think otherwise. You can definitely run this thing with wood if you want to and many do. I recommend to heat with burned down wood or lump charcoal and use wood for smoke in ALL stickburners regardless of the size. Of course, you are welcome to have a different opinion.;-)

  • @popeyeandy959

    So do you keep the top vent open on something like a Propane Great Outdoor Smoky Mountain smoker too?

  • @tulsajeff

    @tulsajeff

    4 жыл бұрын

    Not necessarily.. on the GOSM, I close the vent as far as it will let me which is normally about 80% of the way. The smoke output is very controlled since it's just burning propane and I like to slow the smoke exit down a little bit and give it more time to kiss the meat as it passes over. Of course, if you want less smoke flavor, open it up full and the smoke flavor will decrease since it will then exit faster and spend less time with the food.

    I owned a TS120P for several years and it was a really nice smoker. I just passed it on to a new owner about a year ago. My family moved to a new location and I needed something a little more patio sized.. that's where the LSG comes in. I also think a lot of folks are looking for something on the smaller size that can still burn wood like the larger setups.
