Nicely done Johnny. Thank you. I've been subscribed for some time now and I've been meaning to comment that your work is always interesting, devoid of the adolescent silliness that is widespread on youtube, useful, and containing just the right amount of commentary. I've used Eurostar between London and Paris and back many times since the late 1990's and the Waterloo days. I've always used Standard Class because I can't justify the added expense for even Standard Premium and the trivial meal and seat improvement provided. And yes, Business Premier is substantially better but there's no way I can justify that obscene fare. For a little over two hours I'll tolerate Standard, watch the view, and maybe take a walk to the club car for a snack. Thank you again and please continue your good work.

Thank you for the kind words. I think it was in his Q&A video that "Non-Stop EuroTrip" was saying that he did not do "talking into the camera" sections because he wanted to show more of the trains and the journey and he didn't want it to be "about him." I'd probably concur with him, although, obviously I do talk into the camera and my videos are more about "my journey" than "the journey". In the end I think it is wonderful that KZread is such a huge medium where people can choose their style and content and other people can then choose whether or not to engage with that content. I'm just very happy that you have chosen to watch my stuff amongst all the other things you could watch. So, thank you 👍 Oh, and wrt going "cheap" on Eurostar, I'm right with you on that. It's only 2hours and standard is just fine... however... a good cheapskate way of upgrading is to have a 1st Class Interrail ticket (which is what I have done) which means the supplement into Std Premier isn't silly money... and you then get to ride 1st Class on connecting trains into London and out of Paris/Brussels on your Interrail ticket too. It is worth checking out.

This is my view. I cannot justify paying extra because I don’t think that it’s worth it, considering what is offered. I don’t need to be pampered. I just need a seat that won’t make me feel pain. Eating before boarding negates the need for a meal. Plus, you can always get up and stretch your legs. I’m fine with standard, as it’s a FAR easier way to travel than having to go to Heathrow to fly to CDG.

@@hothotheat3000 I think that's fair enough - although if you are travelling with a 1st Class Interrail ticket, then it is not much extra to reserve the Std Prem seat. But if just buying a ticket off the shelf, then I agree, Std is just fine for 2 hours. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍

I just took my trip today from st Pancras international to London. Service was very nice, the station is always crowded but line moving fast and I got to gare du Nord in no time. Finish the small meal and voila arrived to Paris before realizing it. Suggest to add 11 euros for standard premiere, Worth it

For sure the best way from Paris to London...I used to be a frequent flyer on BA or Air France.....arriving at Heathrow was painfull...just one comment, you mentionned Avenue du Nord which is in fact Autoroute (for motorway) du Nord....

Great video for someone like me that has never been on the Eurostar. How do you know which is the correct car that has your seat? Or is it like the US airlines Southwest take which ever seat is open?

You have a booked seat in a certain car are there are very clear indicators on the outside of the train with the car numbers so you can't go wrong. And there's also staff on the platform to check you are getting on in the right place. You have plenty of time to find your car and seat before the train departs. Just did Brussels-London on eurostar standard. Nothing fancy but fine althoug the seat space was cramped

Yes, it can be tight if you are taller than average, but it is only a 2 hour ride so I think it is OK. Enjoy your time in the UK 👍

Yes. I was on an Interrail pass, but it was just a 4-day one. So I just used it for to/from the UK and a couple of internal French trips. I don't think it saved me any money this time, but the flexibility was handy when dealing with the French industrial action.

The new E320 Class 374 that were built by Siemens could of replaced the rest of the E300 Class 373.

I've always preferred the original E300's over the newer E320's. And the E300 sound, oh my! It's the best train sound ever! Sounds like laser canons in rapid fire when E300's are at full speed.

How cruel! The French cheerfully applauding their XV de France after they massacred the National English Team in ... England is summum of schadenfreude! 😁 I hear they were passing free drinks in Scottish pubs to celebrate the event. Nice report with lots of good information. Thank you.

I enjoyed this. Some good shots, and i liked your commentary. I have to confess my prejudices however: I think I would rather travel by plane, than HST euro-style: its bland. Give me LNER London-Edinburgh any day. I need that sense of history! I haven't been on the new Eurostar's, but don't they have UK sockets?

I think it is a little comparing apples with pears. One route is effectively a quick 2hr hop, whilst the other is 4 1/2 hrs, and possibly much longer if you carry on into Scotland on,say, the Inverness service. Eurostar do a great job of making this a seamless international commute. High speed lines are like motorways- you get there fast, but miss the scenery on the way (such as it is). LNER has views of York, Durham, Newcastle and the Northumbrian coast which is magical and yes, I enjoy that route more too. Thanks as ever for watching and commenting. Next week we're off the wine and back on the beers, so hopefully you will approve 😀

Oh wrt sockets. You only need one type because passengers are travelling to Paris and are either European or they are from the UK and are expecting European sockets when they get there so have a converter with them. That's my take...

On sockets, every pair of seats has one of each (UK and EU) and single seats (only in Standard and Business Premier) alternate between the two, so the seats in front and behind would have the other plug type (UK or EU).

Yep the Eurostar is a nice train ride for sure. But let's be honest, the Northen French countryside is about as exciting as, err, well the Cambridgeshire Fens (sorry guys!). So a wonderful journey it definitely isn't! I once got off at Calais Frethun and was shocked to find there was absolutely nothing there. Didn't realise it is some distance from Calais. At least I enjoyed the tumbleweed blowing around the station!

Hey John, i just came back from sy Pancras int'l to Paris gare du Nord hours ago. My daughter trip should be later than my trip at 8pm. But due to a fire somewhere in London her connection to st Pancras was cancelled, she arrived in taxi too late for her trip. You know if they willing to reschedule her another trip? I booked her standard premiere

Ah, I'm not the person to ask. But my advice is to go to the Eurostar desk at St Pancras and explain everything and also make sure she has some evidence if she can of why she missed the train. She may then get put on a later one. Good luck 🤞

We just bought a first class pass. But when we did seat bookings, for the trip from London to Paris, there’s no first class. It’s confusing. I wonder if it automatically selects premium. Any thoughts?

The 1st class interrail/eurail ticket means you can pay a supplement and travel Standard Premier, which is frankly pretty much a1st class product as you can see from the video. Thanks for watching 👍

It depends what passport/nationality you have. There are full passport controls (both exit/entry from UK and to the Schengen Area). Check if your country needs a visa for the purpose of your trip (eg tourism). Many countries, like the UK to EU or an EU country to the UK don’t need a visa and just a passport is fine for tourism.

Gare du Nord still looks as miserable as the Port Authority Terminal before renovations ☹

What did you say? Speed. You were doing 128 mile an hour? I don't think so. Not 300. KMH is 186 miles an hour. So I don't know where you got your 128 from. Listen to you.

Whilst the Eurostar will reach a maximum of 186mph at various points of the journey, based on the distance and the scheduled duration of the journey the average speed for the whole journey is around 128mph.

Which bit of ‘average speed’ are you having problems with. Remember also that speed through the Tunnel is restricted to 100 mph / 160 kph for 51 km of the journey.
