London’s Most Dangerous Hood Food Tour?! They Won't Show You This Side Of Brixton!!

This is the Caribbean Capital of Europe, here in Brixton, London. Is this really the most dangerous place in London? We are here to explore the people, culture, and most importantly the food is this incredibly diverse place. We are trying Caribbean Food in London from Jamaican, to Trinidad, Guyanese, to African Food such as Gambian and Nigerian Food. We even found Juici Patties in the cold weather of London! It truly was like being in the Caribbean in Europe. We are also finding out, who really makes up the diverse city of London?

@@jessicaplays7658 🎯 I’m not sure why our race love to relinquish or reject our heritage so quick & easily, me personally (I would even add African in there as ultimately that’s what we all are really) but that’s a whole other argument if we’re being questioned & encouraged to drop the heritage & culture that live & identity with. People need to know & understand the difference between Nationality, citizenship & Heritage, We need to start standing strong in our heritage as this contributes to the lack of unity. I Chinese individual is ALWAYS a Chinese despite where they are born or reside, so the ones that are here will only accept to be seen as British Chinese (I Chinese living as a Citizen in Britain) if a Chinese person was described as English it wouldn’t make sense to 99% of people from any race however we like to separate ourselves by adopting the titles of wherever we are born to describe who or what we are instead of going by our cultural heritage or linage. Crazy🤦🏾‍♂️

Empire Windrush was the name of the ship - HMT Empire Windrush arrived at the Port of Tilbury on 21 June 1948 and its passengers disembarked a day later. The ship carried 492 Caribbean migrants, many of them veterans of the Second World War. The ship and its passengers have a symbolic status as the start of the Windrush Generation. Windrush Generation denotes the people who emigrated from the Caribbean to Britain between the arrival of the HMT Empire Windrush on 21 June 1948 and the Immigration Act 1971, including the passengers on the first ship.

Yes, I know the history. The point is we are talking about the 'Windrush' generation, who first came to the UK from Jamaica in the late 1940s. The UK tried to ILLEGALLY send them back to Jamaica even though they had rights of abode due to being BRITISH (they held British passports after all). Jamaica wasn't independent from the UK until 6th August 1962 - therefore all that came to the UK before that date (after being invited by the UK government to help rebuild the country after World War 2) were British. To try and force them back to Jamaica, the UK government & press tried to label them as illegal immigrants, which is incorrect.

Thank you so much for saying this Andreas. Really happy to share this. There are more Belgium videos and my Netherlands series will be out after London most likely. Lots of European content on the way this year but also combined with some off the beaten path places. Always glad to have you along for the journey.

Memories. Looking through the eyes of time from 1965. The majority of C'bbean immigrant residents were Jamaicans. Of course other islanders such as Bajans, Guyanese, Trinis, Lucians, Vincys...and from the African continent. I've got mostly great memories growing up.

That means a lot to hear that Helen. I know its a far ways away from you in Pool, but we had a blast. There is a lot more London content to come too over the next couple weeks to stay tuned. I am so glad you noticed the content shift as well, I'm really trying to tell stories and bridge that connection between the people and the food. And yeah...major regrets on the gloves.

Its wonderful to explore n highlight the amazing variety of culinary delights available in Brixton.😊 Long may this continue. It is also good to recognise black people have a history n a presence the UK that goes way back, beyond the Windrush. Many people of African/Caribbean heritage were born in raised in the uk and are also British.
