No.that was after a job. They take off from roof helipad and are only a matter of yards away from helicopter to board.

Fascinating! Our flight-for-life helicopter in stockholm is used to transport patients to our trauma center, I assumed it was the same for the one in London. But I'm assuming it's just used as a transport for the medical team?

With NWAS They have a Trauma doctor like in A&E and a specialist Paramedic

Yes, in London the helicopter is all about getting a specialist doctor (and paramedic) to the scene of the accident, taking basically a mobile emergency department. They can provide general anaesthetics, do open heart surgery and so on at the roadside. At night they use cars to get to patients because it’s deemed unsafe to land the helicopter in tight areas at night - which makes perfect sense, as London’s already crammed in enough.

+indiesthlm The crew is made up of a pilot, co-pilot, HEMS paramedic and specially trained doctor (in Pre-Hospital Emergency Medicine). On this mission there was an addition person, which is usually a trainee. It looks like there were 4 medics but in reality one of them was the co-pilot who was just helping by carrying the heavy bags. By the way, pre-hospital emergency medicine is a sub-speciality of Emergency Medicine, Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine, but any doctor from a traumatic background can train in it
