Chicken shops are abundant in the UK. There are thousands of them in London alone. It is not uncommon to see 3-4 of them on the same high street. They're usually operated by South Asians and are very popular, especially amongst youth, particularly for being cheaper than major fast food chains.

Chicken shops in the Uk are for people who don't want to spend a lot of money but want FLAVOURS, you'd typically see a bunch of school children gathered around there after school purely due to how inexpensive it is. back in the day you were able to get 6 wings, chips and a drink for £1

Bro I genuinely ordered a Morleys a few nights ago and watched your Greggs video whilst I ate it thinking to myself "man he should really try Morleys". A few days later and here we are lol I feel like I thought it into existence haha glad you had it whilst you're here because it is a big thing here. Ben Deen gets the streets approval with this one. Never thought I'd see a review of Morleys from someone outside of the UK, you could've also got Dixy's to compare the two, but I'm happy you enjoyed the food most of us kids grew up eating here and It reminded me about all the crazy experiences and stories we had in Bossman's chicken shops.

The fries from Morleys come unsalted there's usually a few sachets of salt in the bag with it, put 2 in with the chips and shake the bag also burger sauce is the one! My normal order is fillet burger meal with Orange Mirinda and either 6 wings or a 1 piece on the side

Orange Mirinda is an abomination

I used to go to my local chicken shop all the time in my teens/20's. I would always get either a chicken fillet burger or a veggie burger and chips. It used to be so cheap back then. Like $4 or something. It's a bit more expensive these days but still pretty cheap. You see locals in these places all the time, especially working class people at the end of their shift, or school kids after school. It's definitely a huge part of culture in working class London. Me and my mate used to call our local place "Knockoff-Fried-Chicken" jokingly because for us it was the poor man's KFC. Next up, you gotta try a kebab from a local kebab joint. This is the classic drunk person's meal on a Saturday night after having a few pints at the pub!

Hi, I've really enjoyed your UK videos, its really interesting to see someone from another country experience what we take for granted. Solid reviews mate look forward to seeing more content and watching your older stuff.

In the UK we'd be more likely to call those type of chips fries, mainly because the places that introduced them (McDonalds etc) called them fries on their menu, and when you buy bags of them from the supermarket they're labelled as fries. That has slipped into our language, but the big chunky chip shop chips are still chips... A lot of places use that formula on their menu, if it says fries then it's McDonalds style, if it says chips then it's chunky chips.

Yes, you MUST try a Doner Kebab with the garlic mayo and chilli sauce (with all the salad). Also, just as an aside following your Greggs video. In the Midlands (mainly Nottingham & Derby) we have a chain called Birds bakery which is like a 'next level Greggs' and far superior. I don't suppose you'll be able to give it a try but I'd highly recommend it.

You NEED to go to Manchester before you leave and try the spicy chicken fillet burger scene there (specifically Philadelphia fried chicken), super competitive and very different to any style of chicken burger you’d have tried anywhere else (Spicy chicken fillet burger meal with cheese. Wings, fried and gravy with a Rio as your drink would be the perfect order)

Can I just say the amount of accurate research you’ve done on this London series I just have to salute you 🫡. Not many KZreadrs get it right but this is the most accurate representation of British food I’ve seen yet. I lived in Korea for 4 years and I CRAVED this food. I hate when people say Londons food scene is shite because couldn’t be further from the truth. Next time, please visit China Town and visit Indian restaurants and do a video about it! A huge part of the London food scene is actually how culturally diverse the food is. We probably have the best Indian food in the West (I’ll say that confidently haha)

The sauce is just chilli sauce and not "sweet" chilli sauce, it's quite potent with a sour but hot flavour. Only thing you missed out on was the BBQ wings! my favourite spot is the one in Brixton.

You're spot on with the chicken nuggets from these places. The rest of the chicken will have been freshly made but the nuggets would most likely come like that and just deep fried since you can get the exact same from Asda and def tastes a bit too clean. Need some artificial flavour in it

Back when bossman hits you up with 6 wings chips and drink for £2, now the prices have gone crazy. I might not consume it much anymore, but I always go to a chicken shop at least once a month, its engrained in me. Also, every chicken shop is slightly different, even if its the same chain. I'm from Southend and I have probably 10 chicken shops in walking distance to where I live 🤣 Also some chicken shops can be hit and miss as remember its lower class bad quality food, sometimes the wraps and wings are awful. But this is usually rare. P.S STRAWBERRY MIRINDA IS WHERE ITS AT

Yeah you should do a Chinese takeaway, London doesn’t really have great Chinese takeaways but still might be worth the experience. Salt and pepper chicken with some curry sauce is quite popular.

Ben you need to check out Chicken George in Hitchin its Jon Blaze🔥. Their mango wings are 🔥 You need to hit up a lamb or chicken shawarma wrap. London Edgeware Road is where it’s at.

Nuggets in my experience are usually for the kids so the lack or heavy seasoning is a win for most parents having a quick meal for their toddlers
