David J Adams Its not a bad turnout considering control messed up the mobilising info on the tipsheet and over the tannoy. They had to clarify with control which appliances were needed before they could go. Usually these guys, the busiest fire station in the world, are out the door in, on average, 30 seconds.

I would love to see them get out of the station within 30 seconds on another clip of yours, when there are no errors from dispatch. I worked for the FDNY (Fire Dept New York) and people always think that the Firemen run to the trucks when the bell rings. I am now retired and still hear sirens in my head while I am dreaming lol JW93Emergnecy, keep up the interesting video clips !

What with the ambulance coming out of Greek Street and everything, it's a bit confusing for the poor young tourists. Perhaps there should be some flashing signs on Shaftesbury Ave. to warning pedestrians when there's a shout. I believe that Soho is classed as the busiest Fire Station (not ambulance) in the world. They do normally turn out a bit quicker then that.

To all who think there is a 30 second rule there is no 30 second rule appliances arrival time depends on the risk level of the emergenc y the first appliance has its own time limit and the second arriving appliance has its own timeline and so on and so on. For example for an A risk the first appliance must arrive with 7 minutes the shout was given the second arriving appliance must arrive within 10 minutes the shout was givin

@douglas108908 no I cant explain that one, I live in London, we don't have any retained stations here is I don't know much about them. They turnout system does work actually, it was a multiple call shout, that means that control will send a certain number of appliances, but as more calls come in, the volume of appliances increases as well, they were mobilised separably and the tip sheet was a bit confusing, now, my friend that is a FACT!

Compared to my days in LFB turnouts are definitely slower. In many clips men are strolling to the appliances, also getting rigged before boarding. Would have had an almighty bollocking from the guvnor if I had done that. Still I suppose H&S have slowed things down. Doesn't seem to be any urgency anymore.

It depends on the call, if they get a house fire persons reported call or something like that, the station empties in a matter of seconds. But when it's an AFA or something like that then there's too much risk. Same as driving to the incident, if the driver goes through a 20 zone at 50 on the way to a house fire, no questions would be asked, but if they do the same for an AFA then it's likely they'll get in trouble.

Martin Bonner that's right, the CFO got the idea off the Americans back in the early 1970s with the first 2 fire engines with white upper cabs being a pair of AEC Mercurys based at Billingham. By the 1980s all but the AEC engines had white faces instead of the cab tops, all that is apart from Stockton's TL which was all red when the picture for thefire safety postcard was taken; it was soon repainted to match the rest of the fleet.

So what was the delay in the first appliance being sent? if the call was for 1 pump then increased to 2 pumps and TL why didn't one machine at least attend? no the tip sheet wasn't to blame here, one appliance could have gone straight away instead they held back, if this happened in my brigade heads would roll.

Why not put out a flashing sign and a bell or a loudspeaker that is at pedestrian crossings to warn passers-by about driving fire trucks? Citizens march too close to the gates, it will one day be an accident, but an almost accident is bad. Here, for example, they moved back and forth so that they would not be rubbed together at all by the wagons that emerged almost simultaneously, it was bad to watch. How much damage does such a 12-ton car cause, huhh.
