London Buses 2000-Potters Bar Station with Metrobuses & Scania's

THE JON HARRY COLLECTION
A film now from the collection of a now departed friend. Having seen my videos taken since 1985 he was inspired to go out and buy his own video camera and get filming. I have been digitising them and converting the Video8 tapes to MP4. This upload shows some London bus action at Potters Bar Station/Darkes Lane. We see Arriva and Metroline routes 84, 242 & 298 operated with Metrobuses and Scania's. If you liked the video please subscribe to my channel, there are lots more transport & quirky vids to upload!

Still grateful Soi managed to get his hands on it. I was sad when he said how his collection was in the hands of relatives and didn't know if he'd ever get to see them. Good work Soi!

Those Scania buses were ideal for the 84. Plenty of open road to exploit the power of their engines......

You're not wrong about the power of their 11 litre engines. They sound to have the same motor as the Scania L113 CRL single deckers I used to drive. Unfortunately my depot had a very conservative setting for the governors and some became slugs as a result.

@@jamesfrench7299 pity. Some buses are great on the urban road and the Scanias are among them.

@@markcf83 the brakes were a good point about them. The low profile 275/70R22.5 tyres (same as the Metros) scrabbled for grip around corners and the dash w made of flimsy looking plastics. Oil pressure senders were rubbish, giving you a false low reading. Ride was too harsh as well. Later models like the L94 and K230UB improved on this.

The Metros looked and sounded like crap. Those contractors should be ashamed. I'm guessing profits were tight which is why heavy oversight of decent standards is required. I found the Scanias more interesting as a result.

In all fairness they were pushing twenty years old and had been very heavily used.

@@markcf83 not knocking the bus type, just the condition they were being used. The units were overdue for a repaint (or even a good scrub) and some mechanical attention at least. Third world stuff.
