If the LOMO people were really "Revolutionary," they'd make 126 film for the many can't-otherwise-be-used Instamatic-type cameras of the 1960's. Stuffing ISO 100 film into 126 cartridges would instantly increase the number of "LOMO quality" cameras in the world.

Using a lot of vintage "consumer" medium-format cameras (Kodak Duaflex, other pseudo TLRs, very vintage folders, etc.) -- where the aperture/shutter-speed range was optimized for fairly low ISO films, my options have typically been B&W from well-known manufacturers at the under-200 ISO speeds, Ektar 100, Portra 160 -- and Lomo 100. I like stretching these older cameras by using color, since when these cameras were new, color films were harder to come by and not that great. Most family photos pre-1960 tend to be B&W. So to me harnessing some of the characteristics and personality of these older cameras on color film is unique. I really like Lomo 100 because it works well with the limited settings of these cameras, and as you point out -- it doesn't scream "Portra" or "Ektar" (tho I like those in these same cameras for very specific subjects) -- but I have always had a tough time tracking down Lomo 100 in 120 -- despite living between two pretty large cities (Baltimore and DC in the US), there are no real camera stores which are not in the middle of downtown, and frankly not worth the hassle of dealing with traffic, parking, and the risk of crime. So online I must go -- and I do find that, when available, Lomo 100 does annoy me by being priced a bit more than I would want, for a consumer-grade film. I can generally get Ektar 100 and Potra 160 at around $8-9 (US)/roll online -- and usually in stock, where Lomo 100 typically is going to cost me $10+ (US) per roll. I'd love it if somehow Lomo 100 was like "Kodak Gold" back in the day -- in stock at the grocery store, the drugstore -- and cheap enough to buy a 3-pack without blinking an eye.... Thank you for doing the review and comparison of the options!!! Maybe we can expect "Analog Resurgence 100" in the future!!!! :-)

Lomo color films are great for 120 format since they allow you to shoot with your 120 cameras much more in color. The only thing is that you have to be careful when loading and unloading the film because Lomo 120 stock does light leak easily.

@@lobsterbark I don't understand how come demand is lower. Vice versa. Price goes up as demand goes up. It may also go up when there are supply problems. In general it seems like this global lack of materials is very synchronized with this whole pand3mia

@@eladbari The reason for all the supply shortages is the people who work at docks, trucking offices, warehouses, etc are tired of being paid very little for the extremely hard work they do, and they are all quitting in droves, and the transportation companies don't wanna pay people enough that anyone wants to work for them. Rent most places literally doubled these last two months, and the cost of gas and groceries went up massively as well. The transportation companies raised their pay, but $15-20 still doesn't cover the cost of living so it doesn't fix the problem. People aren't willing to destroy their body moving packages when they can't pay their bills either way. The pandemic gave people enough of a pause to look at their life and realize how pointless it is to keep going the way it was going. So they just don't have enough people to unload the ships and load and unload the trucks. Ships will wait for weeks to unload their cargo because they literally don't have enough people to keep up. FedEx had to put many of their distribution centers on a skeleton crew, only handling local deliveries because they can't find enough people willing to work for how little they pay. They have to trucks things hundreds of miles further than they would otherwise to being them to facilities that have enough people to deal with them. Stuff like that is happening to every transportation company. The same thing you seen happening with fast food places is happening to warehouse jobs too. It's just less directly visible so the media doesn't talk about it. I don't really see this problem resolving itself anytime soon. Especially since nobody seems to be taking the lead in trying to fix it. I can't even criticize anyone's plan for being bad because it seems like nobody has any plan. It's going to get a lot worse before it gets better.

The price I gave was Portra 800 in 120. 160 is about $15 so 5 rolls comes to about what BH would be once you pile on shipping and import fees.
