I think they went up in price for several reasons (all my personal opinion, of course): 1. The initial dolls were loss leaders (same for Rainbow High). I hate to break it to y'all, but these dolls should cost a lot more. Especially if you want flawless, QC'd dolls. And before someone yells, "But Barbie!" Barbie was subsidized by that annual $500 million licensing fee from Disney. No one could compete with Barbie, because we were NOT paying what it cost to produce the older dolls. When Disney dropped Mattel, we started to see what $10 really buys. Mattel quality is very WYSIWYG right now. 2. The earrings and the working zipper definitely added to the price. Those little details are pricey. 3. Shipping, shipping, shipping. MGAE, Mattel, Target, and Walmart are buying their own ships and getting shipments to their own ports all over the US. Shipping has skyrocketed in price. I think we're going to see a spike in all doll prices very soon.

Shipping has gone up so much anyone importing took a huge hit this year it really sucks 😭 ( in my opinion a lot of people were making too much profit in the first place 👀 🙈) it sucks the customer was already paying up the wazoo & now even more but even tho we’re paying more the company is still making less cuz of the super high shipping 😕 the freaking shipping is costing 4 to 40 times the product cost in most cases!! Even when purchased straight from the manufacturer! It’s absolutely ridiculous!!

@@chickpea the quality of the LOL Winter Chill dolls this year is ridiculous as well, really they are re released dolls but come with “new” accessories but omg the quality is terrible.. the plastic dresses are like Aliexpress quality even worse than some Aliexpress dolls I’ve got in the past & the paint jobs are terrible too. I’m telling you the plastic is so thin & cheap & not only that one doll was missing a shirt then I opened a double of the doll & it was missing the shirt too! Like wth?

It's very true, the deal with Disney really helped Mattel back in the day and without it the budget went down a lot, there was also the rise of smartphones with younger audiences, and that affected the sales of toys. Sadly, collectors tend to not acknowledge those factors and keep asking for more quality ignoring the situation.

@@PedroMDN I don't think phones affected the sales of toys, if that were the case we would've seen a decline since the late 90's with the rise of the gameboy and DS systems, is there any studies behind that?

This doll reminds me of Honeylicious. And in regards to the boxes, I think the ones that are open would be nice because you can choose one with a good paint job. However, I do like the ones that are just the doll's artwork because they seem better for displaying them.

Yeah that’s the only part that sucks, ended up with one with yellow paint smudged on one of her eyes & another missing an earring.. if it was for a kid not a big deal but as a collector it sucks, especially if you didn’t open it for 3 years so there’s no chance of using the warranty or buying another locally for a decent price… other than that.. I really enjoy the surprise features. Maybe they could do something where they show the doll but keep the accessories & stuff a surprise. However that wouldn’t prevent a missing earring but I’d rather have a missing earring than a defected eye I guess 🤷🏼‍♀️

Inflation. Shipping crisis. It sucks the price is higher on these. I just saw another review of this doll and city gurl. City babe comes with 1 more accessory than fly gurl (the adorable cat neck pillow). Both dolls have a suitcase, jacket, and earrings and a head accessory. Fly gurl’s head accessory is her pilot hat/headset which looks like the hat will only stay on the head if you keep the headset attached. Plus, lots of product in her hair. I can’t wait until sunset is available. I think the boxes are really neat for this line.

i love the new packaging and being able to pick a good face! but it’s nice they still kept the surprise element with the clothes and accessories, so it’s still on brand

Have you bought anything lately? This is inflation/shipping prices going up, the higher price sucks but over heads for companies have gone up and there for our products we buy are going up. If you don't want to pay full price don't; they go on sale pretty quickly. I almost never buy a LOL OMG doll at full price, most of them I wait till a sale.

Honestly,you should check prices in France... Most OMG dolls are selling between 40$ and 50$....even over 65$ in Paris department stores... Rainbow high are priced between 45$ and 55$ in most places...if you CAN find them!! And in january prices should increase as Macron has decided to increase taxes on Toys produced in China(taxes will be multiplied by 4!!).... But both OMG and RH are selling so much here...proving that most parents are ready to pay higher prices if they have quality...

I agree compared to other dolls like Bhad Gurl and 24K DJ these newest dolls come with a lot less for more money. For those on a budget do what I do, stalk Amazon and Walmart for clearance prices that pop up unexpectedly....I got both dolls mentioned for about $15 each.

The prices on a lot of things are going up due to the port issue in California. The cargo ships can't get docked because of a lot of semis that used to be used to load up are not allowed in California due to new automotive regulations that were passed in the last several years. I work for a factory that makes parts for the automotive industry and there would be weeks that the plants we supply parts for cancel orders because they're not getting the other parts that are stuck at the docks. Our company is already predicting that the prices for cars are going to go up with less bells and whistles in the next several years because of this.

terrified of the price raise. remix dolls are around 52$ here, which is obviously expensive, but the new movie dolls are around 72$, and the nye queen is 105$. i’m barely able to get any lol dolls as is, if they start raising the price... i’ll never be able to get them... and shipping from america to here is around 50$ so it’s even worse...

You may wanna check the news, we've been going through a shipping crisis for a bit now. Its why big toy brands were telling people to go out back in oct to start hoilday shopping. Its because there's a crisis and not enough workers at ship yards, let alone truck drivers. Its not MGA's fault. Also - i've been stay away from toys for that reason. Toys for you guys that's like 19.99 is easily... 40 bucks. Moonlight bb out here in canada is $40. @_@;' I'm going to wait for sales personally.

Great outfit on this one. The suitcase doesn't bother me since some molds are reused often with different designs on top, like the purse that comes with Chillax is the same mold as Camp Cutie, Starlet, and Sunshine Gurl. City Babe doesn't seem worth more than a standard OMG. Hoping that the price increase is a US only thing, like that dollar markup on Rainbow High Series 3. I will kind of miss the closed box art, seeing the doll revealed in her underwear, and then dressing her up in her final look.

They’re definitely inflating the price because they now have a competitor to Barbie in Dream Ella. They don’t have to match LOL OMG and RH anymore. It’s all because of the popularity

In Australia these dolls are closer to 40 dollars Aus. I agree if they are increasing the price they should be very detailed and have a lot of accessories. I noticed with some dolls they start off being very detailed then after a few collections they start to pull back on detail and quality.

I have gotten bad quality on both lines. My OMGs have overall been painted well and with miniscule defects but when there's bad face paint and stuff it's REAL BAD... much worse than any RH face messups.

I’ve never had any issues with their quality. RH I can’t order online because I need to pick out the girl with the least amount of defects. When I order online I usually get one with a messed up face. OMG I can order online and the faces are pretty much always perfect.

Y’all are taking quality for granted. Back in 2016 ish an eah doll having fabric on clothing was already enough to make them $25+ (Wonderland dolls for example). And the fabric was literal paper. Lol dolls are giving us quality that not even mh came close to giving with the fabrics, long good fibers on hair, spray painted faces, funcional zippers… real chains… how is this lol not worth $30… let’s calm down. Few years ago when MGA hadn’t taken over and show us REAL quality, Mattel wouldn’t even paint details on accessories and give dolls cheap sticker faces (they still do) and everyone would pay for them. Not even $100 collector Barbies have the paint quality and detail as dolls like this LOL.

Agreed, but let's not forget MGA has had problems with how they pay their workers as well, it's a bit messy but you are absolutely right, people are expecting a lot of cheap, but also I own the first EAH line and the fabric is nice, nothing compared to paper they even have stockings.

These dolls take alot of time to make, there going up in price because it takes so long to keep there hair nice so they aren't a "scam" and they have to braid each hair individually if they have braids.

I think it’s due to the shipping situation that the prices have gone up. As for getting less garment bag or shoe plastic boxes, that’s due to trying to use less plastic I feel. Though I don’t see why she couldn’t come with a bracelet? But then again she comes with a suitcase & the pillow so maybe it’s the same amount of accessories you’d receive with previous doll just in different forms

I think it has to do with supply and demand. That paired with holiday is about big business making money. After the holidays I picture her price dropping.

The price is getting higher but we are getting less especially compared to the Remix line, it must have to do with the popularity and the fact that everything is increasing. Even grocery shopping is taking me out with how expensive everything is. But I also think RH going for $50 is ridiculous and I don't want OMG to eventually go for that price too... as for the concept I don't really care for this travel line. These dolls should've definitely stayed at like $26. I'm personally not going to to buy these dolls for that price. If they eventually go on sale later on I might but for now it's a big pass.

Here in Germany they cost like 35,99 - 44,99!!! Is it becouse ist from a different country?? I do Not know!

In Canada we pay a lot more than 30$ for omg dolls. Like the remix dolls are 40-60$ CAD and the winter chill dolls are 50-60$. Most of the lol omg dolls are more then 30$ here unless their on sale. So I’m not mad at the price. If I get good quality then I’m fine with a higher price.

I don’t think we should expect to get great quality when the price Is low. If you want good quality and all these details with the clothes and cute accessories then they should cost more.

This line of holiday dolls are beautifully packaged. You still have the surprise effect. But more of the doll is revealed. I think the upcoming LOL OMG series 5 dolls is a real step backwards in terms of packaging. It looks cheap because the packaging has a lot less detail. And the whole surprise effect is gone.

That is what I think too🤔In Spain a normal LOL OMG costs about 40, 42 euros (about almost 50 dollars), the special ones, such as Remix or Movie go up in price to almost 60 euros (about 70 dollars) Americans are complainers. If they had to pay what we pay for the dolls, then what? Would they cry and buy none?
