I think the love/acceptance theory is the most sound. And that's why when they were loving/accepting each other on the tail end of an apocalypse they were still able to create a nexus event larger than anyone at the TVA has seen despite being shrouded by the apocalypse.

I don’t see anyone talking about this but Loki cutting off Sifs hair is one of the few surviving stories of Norse Mythology, in the original story Sif who was Thors wife had beautiful golden hair that was cherished by Sif and Thor above all else, so Loki cut it off. Thor who knew it was only Loki who would do such mischief forced Loki to fix what he had done, so Loki went to the dwarves who were so flattered by Loki’s words that they created threads of hair from pure gold for Lady Sif to wear.

yes and they also adapted this story in the comics, I even read the comic in which this story happened not long ago since I started reading some Loki's comics after they started to release the episodes.

My theory about little selvie's nexus event is that she was "good". Ravonna tells Mobius in episode 2 that a Loki on sacred timeline will always be 'evil' and he can't change because that's how time keepers decree it.. So if you think about it, little sylvie's behaviour in TVA also confirms that she was good hearted (yelling to save that variant getting manhandled).. It's a theory, but i hope its not true though.. No one should be that cruel to a child.. 🥺

The Nexus Event that Sylvie caused as a Child - is Love. She was Happy. The Nexus Event that was caused when they were on Lementis was also Love, they started catching feelings and having a serious deep moment together. It was like a Nexus Event within a Nexus Event. There's tons of foreshadowing around this theory... Lady Sif tells Loki in his Prison Loop that he will always be Alone. THAT - is supposed to be Loki's Destiny in the Sacred Timeline, we already know this. As Mobius said I believe it was Episode 1, maybe 2. Loki's True Purpose was to Fail and make everyone else around him Better. He was never supposed to Love another, be with another. Loki even tells Sylvie that he's never done this before when he's about to tell her his true feelings, and then he's gone... -- Just my theory, I think the Secret Nexus Event that the Loki's Cause is Love, Love for Another. They aren't supposed to... - What a great episode!!

Why would their "love" have caused a nexus event if they were set to die? The whole point of hanging out in world ending events is nothing you do matters and you can hide. Feels like the writers wrote themselves into a corner they couldn't get out of. Show can't abide by it's own rules and it's pissing me off.

@@kfernandesless Because Loki isn't Meant for Love. Neither was Sylvie. That's the whole point... The Time Keepers, and the TVA are controlling everyone's Destiny, and dictate the Sacred Timeline, and if you try to think for yourself, or deviate from what they dictate, you get erased... And the show is trying to show that no, you can write your own story, you can create your own Destiny. It's not decided, nor should be decided by anyone. That's been the Theme of the entire show so far. And everywhere you turn, anyone that is trying to dictate your Destiny, your Future is proven to be wrong and stands on a shakey foundation of lies and trickery. That even these Varients Lives mattered... who gets to decide that these Varients are meaningless? They still existed in an alternate reality, in an alternate timeline. So why don't they get to exist and live? It's turning the whole notion that Loki is supposed to be a Villian, upside down. Every episode it's Foreshadowing that point. In the Sacred Timeline, we saw Loki's Future. He is to Fail again and again and again, while through his Failure he makes everyone else around him better. And, he ultimately dies, ALONE. Clearly, Loki doesn't want that for himself, so can he change it? Will they allow it? What happens if he does totally change his Destiny? Nexus Events, because it will totally undo the very core of the TVA and the Sacred Timeline if people learn of this and decide they don't want to live the way that the Timekeepers deemed it so... (Or, whomever is behind the Curtain...)

It's literally so impossible for the timeline that not even the end of a planet and both their deaths could of cancelled it out. Hence the Nexus event the TVA see

@@kfernandesless Apocalypses don't stop nexus events, they just shroud them. It's explained better than I do in an earlier episode. Essentially them falling for each other created an event so large that it was noticeable, and the largest they'd seen, even in the wake of an apocalypses

I'm loving the Loki series and the moments when Loki realizes his mistakes and becomes more self aware of himself are extremely touching. Especially when he starts to genuinely care for Slyvie and Mobius (please don't crucify me if it's incorrect), made him more relatable. Can't wait for episodes 5 and 6, that'll be a cliffhanger. I'm an absolute marvel fan all the way 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌

All I want in Thor four is for Loki to be there and lady Sif shows up and he panics and starts like begging for her forgiveness for cutting her hair that one time. It’s be super funny and also show how much growth he had in the show

One of my favorite moments in this episode is Owen Wilson's - his acting when Renslayer and her guards have he and Loki cornered. Mobius can read a room. He knows he is going to die. So he bravely finally picks up on Renslayer's question about where he would like to go if he could go anywhere and anytime. It's as if in his moment of death, he has decided he will face his fear with his most cherished dream, holding that in his mind and his heart as they erase him. It gives him courage to face his unknown. You can hear the stress in his voice as he relates the end of his answer. I keep getting surprised at how good an actor he is... something I shouldn't be surprised with. Marvelous episode. I was stunned when Loki was "erased" but I have had questions about the terminology they use. "Re-set" - is that in the sense of memory? "Pruned" - is that in the sense of death? So what constitutes "Deceased" as Mobius read on the TemPad? Looking forward to the next episode... By the way, I love Alligator Loki with his little horns - lol. Adorbs! Make sure Mobius comes back... can't have a Loki series without Mobius!

I don't think the nexus event is related to Loki falling in love, here is why: the apocalypse event of Lamentis 1. The whole reason Sylvie was hiding in apocalypses was because no matter what she did, it would _not_ cause a nexus event because no matter what she did, it would be erased from the timeline by the apocalypse. Loki and Mobius tested this in Pompeii, there was no nexus event spike. So even if Loki falling for Sylvie were somehow a bad thing, it wouldn't matter because they were about to die, for real this time. The only thing that _would_ cause a nexus event even in the face of an apocalypse is if either Loki, or Sylvie, or both - _are not supposed to die_ . So that's my theory. Thoughts?

Except that there is no doubt Loki IS a narcissist, so by definition, he absolutely does love himself. More than anything else.

Loki cutting Sif's hair is likely a reference to the Norse myth where he had basically shaved Sif's head bald in her sleep as a prank, and later has to get threaded gold that became Sif's new hair

I got more of a family vibe from the Loki/Sylvie relationship, not a romantic vibe. Perhaps that's my wishful thinking because I hate it when protagonists are thrown together romantically for no other reason than to add a twist. However, I think Loki's confusion when Mobius asked, "Is she your girlfriend?" was geniune. He didn't blush; he made a "WTF" face.

there was clear chemistry in the train and throughout their journey they related a lot to each other. i'm not saying they romantically see each other as love interests now but i won't be surprised if they do later.

My theory on why Sylvie caused a nexus event was because she was going to be a hero from the start unlike the male Loki who caused the premise of the first avengers.

It's perfect characterization. I think the Nexus event on Lamentis-1 was them realizing they needed someone other than themself, hence all the 'you don't have to be alone' stuff...which is weird as hell, considering they're pretty much the same person. That “nexus event” with Loki and Sylvie on Lamentis was maybe caused by the Time Keepers themselves, the branch was very different then the other ones, because they weren`t meant to die, they have to survive so that they can meet the Time Keepers and resolve all this that is happening with them. Later on even one of the android Time Keepers says to Sylvie that she is the child of the Time Keepers and they can talk but after that Sylvie kills one of them. I`m sure they are meant to meet the real Time Keepers eventualy and maybe expose all of the TVA.

Maybe the we’re going to do the dirty and when they do it they destroy the planet and then they survive and have a baby Loki because 2 Loki’s just made a Loki baby and cause the biggest nexus event ever

Personally I feel that the nexus event is not due to Loki falling in love with a version of himself. I think it's because all Lokis are destined to "always be alone", which was highlighted many times by Sif and Loki himself. Thus, when Loki and Sylvie were close to not being "alone", or started to get romantically attached, it was an anomaly that has never happened to any other Loki variant, and that caused the nexus event.

It was clearly established that events taking place during an apocalypse don't affect the Timeline, and a change in the emotional state of two variants "outside" the timeline would also be irrelevant. No, I believe the person/entity behind the tva made it seem like there was an urgent nexus event, either to save Loki and sylvie or capture them (or both). Why? I'm not sure. But this person/Entity would also have to know where and when to find them, as well as have an Interest in having them under control or alive, which makes me believe that this person may actually be Sylvie or Loki themselves from the "Future" or rather from "a later point in their existence". They may have waited for this particular moment to save/capture them because they needed the two to form an emotional bond first, for some reason.

Good theory but you need to also think about what the OG Loki and Sylvie can do if they were united physically and mentally. Their powers would be compounded and Loki can already either time travel, teleport or both (which was how he got to the desert planet with the Tesseract in ep 1). So combining both of their powers could have literally bent space time to create another time-line so it really is not far fetched.

First time i was on the verge of crying for a character.

The Sif scene is actually straight from Norse mythology, in one of the Norse tales Loki cuts all of sif’s hair and then Thor gets extremely angry and then Loki has to fix what he did, which was done by getting dwarfs to forge a new head of hair which was made of gold, but worked as normal hair

Has anyone considered that some of the “Variants” are actually “Mutants” that the Time Keepers considered dangerous to the sacred timeline? Thus these mutants memories have been brainwashed and no memory they are mutants. If the so called Timekeepers have apprehended vampires then they likely would take mutants. This would be a great way to explain why we have not seen mutants in the MCU. What if B15 and C20 are actually mutants, but are called “variants” because the Timekeepers have deemed them a dangerous variant to normal (human) beings.

I don't think the nexus event is related to Loki falling in love, here is why: the apocalypse event of Lamentis 1. The whole reason Sylvie was hiding in apocalypses was because no matter what she did, it would _not_ cause a nexus event because no matter what she did, it would be erased from the timeline by the apocalypse. Loki and Mobius tested this in Pompeii, there was no nexus event spike. So even if Loki falling for Sylvie were somehow a bad thing, it wouldn't matter because they were about to die, for real this time. The only thing that _would_ cause a nexus event even in the face of an apocalypse is if either Loki, or Sylvie, or both - _are not supposed to die_ . So that's my theory. Thoughts?

Loki cutting Sith's hair is straight out of Norse Mythology, I think that was a small but pretty cool plot line.

Holy crap, indeed. Have to say thanks first for all your excellent work and enthusiasm, especially the deep background you have and connect to the original comic book stories. I admit I wasn't thrilled with episode 3's long backstory narrative, but it really paid off in this episode. I guess my favorite were the bookends of Loki's confession to Sif and Mobius's interrogation where he mocked Loki's "falling in love with yourself", that was sick! The big WTF to me was the credits reveal of Loki with the other Loki variants. Maybe those pruning wands just send variants back to their origins?

I feel sorry for Mobius. Makes me want to buy him a prune juice.

The time loop scene with Sif is actually a reference to one of Loki’s stories in Norse mythology. Loki did a prank on the goddess Sif, wife of Thor, and cut her golden blond hair. Thor got furious and made Loki retrieve new hair for Sif that was crafted from real gold.

Also what seemed odd for me, is that Ravonna says “Protect the Time Keepers”. If time keepers are really that “powerful” why do they need protection in their own world. So that was something odd for me since the beginning and it also confirmed in this episode up until Slyvie beheaded the mindless Android.

Because Sylvie could do a quick dagger throw and cut their heads off, before they could even have time to react. Thus, all that power wasn't able to be used. But yea, another interesting note is that if the timekeepers are so powerful, then why are they not doing the hard stuff or even using their powers to simply apprehend Loki or any escaped prisoner in an instant. They also didnt want to fuck with the Avengers and their time heist, why not? Maybe because they wouldn't be able to take them in.

Not any garbage timeline, post-apocalyptic timeline. Where no variance energy can be sensed.

My dime store theory: every time the TVA 'deletes' someone or 'resets' a timeline everything that vanishes is sent to a 'temporal scrap heap'; a limbo outside of 'the sacred timeline'. Similar to Sakaar as a collection point for lost stuff. The Stark/Avengers tower is from a reset version of New York (probably lots of bits of reset New Yorks laying around). The many, many variants of Loki that have been 'banished from time', as it were, have taken over and are maybe fighting among themselves and/also plotting to escape. The clip with President Loki shows him surrounded by goons: random 'deleted' variants. So there are other non-Loki residents. I bet that who/whatever is controlling the TVA is using the temporal energy of a reset for something. It does imply Kang but I'm gonna hold off calling anything; learned my lesson with the Wandavision Mephistogate.

I think the pen belonged to Mobius. Maybe he was taken as a teenager -- one who had a love for Jet skies. Maybe he owned one. Maybe the pen was a test to see if he remembered it. I as thinking also, maybe he had encountered Sylvie before, and she brought back his memories, and so Mobius was purged more than once and either re-captured and mind-erased: or cloned.

This series is just off-the-chain with the writing. No one saw that ending coming in this episode with Loki. Tom Hiddleston is one of the producers on this show. He is amazing. As for the real antagonist of the series, I'd go with the character that originally introduced the propaganda about the time keepers when Loki was first introduced to the TVA, and that's Miss Minutes. She is the only one that keeps pushing that story that sounds so much like a cover up. There is more to that character than what was given in the first two episodes. And remember, she controls the entire system of the TVA. Similar to how Ultron was controlling the different automatons of himself during the actual avengers movie. Miss Minutes could be the real puppeteer of those time keepers robots. The writers if this series is doing an amazing job with the guidance of Tom Hiddleston. 💯

And another question that is easily answered is “the nexus event that Sylvie being alive is a threat in itself that’s why all of the Loki versions that would have survived was rounded up and put into the void” Kang knows the future, he knows that his empire is threatened by a Loki…. He literally sent “terminators” to “prune” these variants who are in a reality where they would have survived. In all the realities where he would have died anyway, they just left the timeline alone. But that all changed when Loki stole the space stone from endgame. Also Loki and sylvie hooking up is chaos as möbius has said and this “chaos” is referring to messing with the grand plan “sacred timeline” Kang mapped out to enslave all of the people he has conquered…. Ps there’s a still image of owen wilson racing to a Sphinx which was accidentally leaked out which in the comics is a space ship 🚀

Perhaps he tool the TVA uses is just a teleporter stick for the variants. It takes them to alternate post apocalyptic timelines where they're trapped forever. Hence the destroyed New York in the credits scene. Would also explain why the TVA considers a soul scan as part of the initial entry (if they were going to kill them, there's no need to check for a soul)

I think ur right, they might stash them in that Apocalypse until they need more employees and then capture a few wipe their memories and bring them to the TVA

i could be looking into it too much but i loved the scene where renslayer and mobius have their meeting. it begins with a worn-down/creepy version of cello suite no. 1 in g major i believe. i think it really contributed to painting renslayer as potentially evil or at least spiraling out of control. most often the older songs played in this show are extremely clear and while having ominous undertones they sound cheerful. the cello piece was the exact opposite. it really heightened tension and signaled right away that something was off.

Omg. Got to wait another week. Great episode.

I think why she was erased, was because she was always going to take the TVA down so in order to avoid that they abducted her as a child 🧒

Nah, you don’t hire Andrew Garfield & Toby’s Spider-Man’s stunt double for a post credit scene. They are going to be an integral part of the main story. They also wouldn’t bring back Alfred Molina, Jamie Foxx & Willem Defoe all for that small scene. It’s going to be full spider-verse

The part where Loki was pruned looked a lot like the scene where Agent Coulson was killed. Just the stabbing in the heart from behind part I guess. It's kind of like a call back to how Coulson was resurrected through project Tahiti and foreshadows how Loki will not really die but will cause a really good thing to happen like Sylvie learning all of TVA's secrets (just like the Avengers were formed). Coulson also forms a team of his own after coming back to life, very similar to how Loki will assemble a team.

The guy that sylvi wants them to help when she's a kid is soooo not that dude with the short hair and epic moustache !!
