Thank you so much for this video. I would dearly love to move there in Ecuador but hubby says he is too old to move (he is 82, I am 70). I loved Mexico when we visited in 1974; especially the coast. I could not just go there without an honest English speaking guide as we do not speak Spanish at this time. We are from Vancouver, B.C. Canada, and it is expensive for a retired person these days. But at the same time, I would like to keep my Canadian citizenship. Yes, it is a huge decision! So, I keep on viewing the videos and dreaming that perhaps one day..... Although I am hoping hubby will consent to go there for a vacation, perhaps one day.... :) :) In the meantime, keep posting the videos. They are very informative. Have a great day!

Love your videos! I was born in Ecuador, moved to the US as a baby but had the privilege to live in Loja for 1.5 years during my high school years. I loved it and am glad to see this video. Jipiro is cool, do they still have the ostriches? lol. The mayor there when I lived there was big on tourism and had exotic animals in Jipiro! Man, can't wait to return soon!

Interesting, as Quito may to be high of an altitude for my C.O.P.D. will do the comparison research. Thank you Brandon for participating in families videos. As always grateful for information that you all share. Also loved Alice's interpretation on adjusting to their culture & ways. Perhaps eventually we can show the "non ugly side of Americans". When I have traveled outside of No. America one of my greatest complicates [unfortunately] has been "you don't act like your from America."

I know polite and nice Americans (and the opposite) and, I know nice and polite Europeans - and the opposite. The people we hear about, they are most often the worst, right... And, how many people live in Ecuador? 17 - 18 million? Unfortunately, there's reason to believe, not all of these people are polite.. I still look so much forward to Ecuador, the diversity of the country, the people, the climate etc etc Thanks souch for sharing and, it hurts me so much to hear about this crime rate...can the new president change that....???

Loja is smaller, prettier and they speak better Spanish than Cuenca, which is the 3rd largest city. The food in Cuenca is better, but the climate in Loja is warmer. Cuenca is more colonial and gorgeous!

I followed all your videos & your family has been wonderful in helping me learn about Cuenca. Most recently I discovered Loja, then saw Brandon's video and now I have more info to help in my decision of what city is right for me. Loja appears to suit me well. I'm 71 yr. (young) widow from Brooklyn, NY and it's getting more impossible every day for me to continue living here. Please keep on keeping us informed. Angie, you're great @ asking the right questions while doing your videos w/your family making sure that they bring the right info into each & every video you all post. Again, very much appreciated. Can you post the name of your book again? Or email me... .....

Tranquilo, no te preocupes, el joven tiene un acento americano y nádie en el Ecuador se enojaría por eso. No obstante, él pronunció la "J" castellana como la "H" inglesa, y así se pronúncia aquella ciudad: "LOha" = LOja.
