@@speedy2490 Yeah, but that doesn't make sense. If you are friends with someone, you get to recognize the sound of their voice at least. So much so that if you hear them in another room, you know who it is. Once Lois had spent any amount of time with both Clark and Superman, she should have realized that they were the same person. Say what you want about Green Lantern, but I liked how they addressed the obvious. A mask didn't keep Carol from recognizing Hal considering the fact that she had known him for most of her life.

Well, to counteract that argument, she thinks of Clark as more of an acquaintance. Keep in mind that in this movie, Clark keeps trying to catch up with Lois and Lois doesn’t even bat an eyelash to that. She doesn’t interact with Clark as often as we think. Her most interaction with Clark in these films was in Superman II and even that was erased by a stupid kiss.

Actually, if I can rebuttal 😂 I don’t think the story is the problem. I can think of a bunch of stuff wrong with this film, like Kate Bosworth as Lois or some of the pacing, but the story is not one of them. If you handed me this script, I would’ve thought this was a good movie, because you have to think that this is an homage to the Donner films and it’s the story of Superman’s comeback. In that respect, the story is good. It’s just the execution

Lois wouldn't or didn't expect Superman I should say to just take off without saying goodbye first, but he did, and because of it, Lois felt hurt and confused over his absence. (Can you imagine the love of your life someone you seemingly cared deeply for, would pack up their things and disappear ?) I'm not saying Superman owes the world an explanation for his reasoning to leave and comeback and expect everyone to welcome him in with open arm's ( with the exception of Lois of course) but that's what he did. 🤷🏽‍♂️ I understand Lois's disposition here. She still loves him.

I don't think people REALLY understand that ‘Superman Returns’ (2006) was a direct sequel to ‘Superman 2.’ That's why Luthor knows where the Fortress of Solitude is and how Superman knocked up Lois. Most people I hear say that they just didn’t really like how Brandon Routh portrayed Superman, but Brandon Routh captured the spirit of Chris Reeves perfectly. He looks just like him at that age (Reeves was also in his late 20s during the filming of the first 2 movies) and totally sold me on this being the same boy scout/awkward dork character from those films. I agree Kate Bosworth was miscast being too young to play Lois (she was 23, while Margot Kidder was older than Reeves during the earlier movies), but as far as acting goes she, much like Routh, captured old Lois very well. Luthor seducing a rich old lady to get him out of jail and inherit her money sounds like something he'd do in the past movies. It's absurd comedy! A staple of the old films. And most people complain that the ending was quick and convenient when that was the case with the earlier films as well (time reversal, anyone?). Overall, I love this movie and it gets more shit than it deserves.

No thats why the movie sucks. Superman 2 ends with superman promising the world that he will never let them down again only for the dude to abandon earth less than like 2 weeks later. Its gotta be that way considering lois would be pregnant with his baby. Its like how at the end of the dark knight how gordon makes this big speech about how batman will be gothams watchful protector only for the dark knight rises to say he gave up being batman that very night and abandoned gotham for nearly a decade. Shit writing trumps all.

@@christopherwashi It wasn't in the final cut of the film but the idea was that not only had astronomers found Krypton, they'd found it intact. It had never blown up. Superman is the adoptive son of the Kents. He loves them, they're the only parents he's ever known but a lot of adopted children want to know where they came from and if possible, reconnect with their birth family. That's the crux of the whole thing. What Superman doesn't know though is that the astronomy story was fake. Lex Luthor planted the story, hoping to send Superman to his death. That bit was in the video game but it was part of the idea for the movie.

He has no emotion in his face or voice. I'm sure most people just didn't like the fact that he seemed like a cheap knock off of Reeve. Truth is Christopher Reeve will always be Superman, and nobody will play the roll better. With that said, I really wanted a sequel to see what happened with his son, and was hoping that his acting improved. They could have made a cool sequel with little Superkid.

No those events still happened, on this earth, just slightly forward in time Originally they took place in 1978 but here they took place in 1998, Superman 2 happens in 2000, and a year later Clark leaves in 2001, goes missing for 5 years and returns in 2006. It wouldn’t make sense if it was in real time because Lois, Lex, Jimmy and the others would be really old and to prove this even further look at the technology

He sure was. This SM had finer control over his powers. I do like Cavill, too. But notice how he lifts both of them and Lois doesn't even notice. He vaporizes shards of glass, hears everything, lifts Kitty's car ever so gently. He is strong and powerful, but doesn't act like some strongman. He embodies the humanistic, friendly neighbor qualities Reeve wanted us to take away from the character.

She used the story to vent her personal frustrations and sold enough people on the idea to get a Pulitzer. Maybe she didn't need Superman, but the world very much did. To be clear,I only have watch this scene but this is my opinion. To be honest, superman is not obligated to stay there forever and protect them. He has his own life and have the freedom to do whatever he wants. He doesn't have the responsibility to protect them. He didn't sign up to be their protector,he only does it out of pure goodness. So no one can actually blame superman for leaving. He is carrying a responsibility which he isn't obligated to carry in the first place. Like you can be good at fighting, but you are not obligated to be a police officer or a security guard. You can choose whatever you want to be. Just like how superman also has a choice Of course it would be nice to have a man like him protecting the city. But the people have to remember he is not obligated to protect them so they cannot blame him for not doing the job as it isn't his job at the first place. They should be grateful that he is willing to use his powers for good without anything return instead of just blaming him for having the freedom to choose to go somewhere else. Omg,he has feelings too. He is not the people's bodyguard 24/7
