Logitech S-120 - Right to Repair Rant (fixable just the casing is runied!)
Ойындар
Just a quick rant on how poor these speakers are to fix.
Granted they only cost about £7 when they were purchased but that no excuse for the terrible way they are stuck together.
While they are not the best speakers in the world its a real shame that the use of glue makes them not worth repairing since they will never go back together in the same way again.

I also have a set of these speakers and recently the Left channel stopped working. I spent several minutes trying to locate the screws and eventually googled disassembly. I followed your video first. Thank you. I managed to get mine apart without much damage. clearly less glue was used on mine. I removed the grilles just as you did and ran a scalpel/xacto knife across the top of each speaker between the back casing and the front casing. Then I inserted a small flat-blade screwdriver in at one corner and levered it gently until there was a pop. I was able to push the blade in a little bit further and carefully levered one corner apart. I inserted a flat tool like a spudger into the gap and very gently eased it downwards and the glue yielded a little at a time. I now have both of the units apart and I will be trying to diagnose the fault in order to repair it. I also bought new speakers (USB powered - Aaaargh!) and a USB wall wart. Hopefully I can get these Logitech speakers working again. I do have power and the right speaker is fine. Thank you again for the tip to open the casing.
It is cheaper this way. They are not glued with glue, but using an ultrasonic joining method to fuse two parts together. The upside is that the machine does everything. With clips you would have another manual process phase to snap two parts together. And there is then also the problem of improperly joined and/or broken clips which would have to be recycled. There is also the problem with possibility of resonance at some volume intensities and frequencies when using clips. So, from manufacturing perspective, this is an excellent choice. But, I concur with you on all the right to repair points.
Thanks for the video! The wires near the connector on my set of speakers are close to completely breaking, but I was hoping to pull the speaker apart and replace the whole length of cable. I'm still going to rip it apart, since I don't really care how beat up they look. I also bought a new set, for $10, so with some luck I'll have 2 working sets. Thanks for saving me the time of searching for tabs or whatnot. I'll be cutting them open.

No problem. I wish it was tabs but not it's horrible glue. A heat gun might help, but probably not. Good luck and be careful of your fingers
make your own speaker case, its easy and with that you can get better sound, coz the real problem with that kind of speaker is the plastic case(very poor quality)

You could. A nice simple wooden case. The issue becomes cost. Fixing it (pretty sure it was a PSU issue here) then making the case. You might as well but another set for £10. Disposable tech is horrible. Though might be a nice project to pass some time.

What do you think would work, wood or plastic? I don't need to separate them, they could both be in one housing. And a vent hole or holes for these powerful monsters?

@@fcaughliyou need to separate them in order to create a 2D effect - they were designed to work as stereo not mono 😊
In m ycase, the secondary speaker of the pair is not making sound. This started happening when I plugged in a headphone into the output jack of the main/primary speaker. But still now when I wiggle the headphone plug in the outlet a certain way, I hear sound in both of my headphone speakers (stereo). If I insert the plug all the way into the speaker output jack, then I hear only mono.
These are not glued together halves like some other logi speakers (z 5450 wireless rears)? If they are one piece how do they make them? They melt the parts together?
I watched this because I wanted to see inside the speakers. I was going to mount these upside down under a shelf by screwing them to the shelf. I wanted to know if a screw in the bottom would hit anything important. It definitely would. lol... Thanks.

you can build some mounting pieces out of a can as the speakers are quite light - built those as a claw - or you can buy those
Hi bro .How many volts is the transformer output inside?
those are glued together to lower the cost of making them
¿No sabes arreglarlo?
I can't get mine apart...

They are basically a single piece of plastic. Based on my attempt where I damaged the plastic beyond repair just take it slow. I ended up using multiple screw drivers and plastic openers to force it apart until it snapped. Just be very careful I cut myself a few times getting these open!
и что делать и зачем разрабы винты не врезали а на клей зачем не пойму ремонт как делать
