Logitech MTR (Tap + Meetup) Setup & Demo

Ғылым және технология

In this video, we take a look at a Microsoft Teams Rooms option from Logitech, using the Logitech Tap and the Logitech Meetup (4K Camera + soundbar). We take a look at each component, and then go over the cabling and setup. Finally, there is a demonstration of the 1-touch (tap) meeting join for Microsoft Teams, including desktop sharing via HDMI. This video is a part overview, part demo.

    Hello! Awesome series of Videos around Logitech devices and MTR. One questions: In this particular setup you are using a generic Intel NUC and not an OEM solution for the MTR computer like the ones you buy from Dell and Lenovo. How can we get the Windows IoT license and ISO to deploy the MTR on the NUC like you did? I don't see on any of your videos how to actually "build" the NUC. Thanks!

    Another thing that's really important to point out. Is just how thin the USB-C cable is compared to previous solutions. Getting these routed through the floor/wall is MUCH easier than previous Surface based solutions. You can also wall mount the TAP panel. It will turn the logitech logo off so it doesn't look silly.

Can I use the HDMI Cable from the Tap as well or do I need to have a separate cable? - You just plugged everything and then just started up the NUC. Great video, but I'm confused as to the benefits of such a system compared to what we have now. We currently have a large screen with a (cheap) webcam connected to a Dell Optiplex Micro. The user logs into the computer within the meeting room (which is running Ms Teams). They get their desktop and access to all their files (which they can share via the teams app if they wish). The meeting appears in their teams calendar and they click to join the meeting. That's basically it. Meetup seems to require a Laptop in addition to the NUC (plus an extra O365 license for the room).

    Yeah, I'm confused as well. Soon as I saw him have to specify a user account when setting up the logitech tap alarm bells started ringing. Don't understand the system. Say your company has two meetings room, and 10 managers all who use teams....what then? It seems to me you need a dedicated pc in each meeting room, but everyone has their own laptops with all their documents and meetings setup in their outlook calendars. Which account sets up the meeting? The person hosting the meeting, or the accout signed into the tap? Very confusing.

Doesn’t the tap has wifi already? 2- I’m planing to buy a Bluetooth mic , will that be able to connect to the tap? Your help is really appreciated Thank you so much,

  • @ExpertOfThings

    Glad to hear about your interest in the Meetup and Tap, and glad this video was helpful! The Tap is not actually the "compute". The account is actually signed in the the Intel NUC, which is the compute in this scenario. The Tap is basic a center of room touch screen, optionally facilitating an HDMI ingest cable, but it does not actually sign into the Teams account; that is done on the NUC. I hope that helps clarify.

Table hub (this is the unit under you conference room table and if you have microphones these hook into it (this is important) 4. Display hub goes behind the TV with your NUC and your NUC plugs into this device via hdmi and your rally or meet up camera plugs into this unit as well. So at the table side all you have to do is plug in a USB 3.0 Cable into your table hub and plug that into your laptop. This actually works better then the flex solution and you don't need the special hdmi adapter (which I was told they no longer make!) I got the rep to show this to me and it worked flawlessly. So much better then the dingle where in my experience you'd push the white button and sometimes it wouldn't pass all the devices through so the user would be impatient and push it again and again too quickly trying to get it to work.

    @@ExpertOfThings they make one for Zoom rooms and 1 for Team but they do not do both. Logitech has a new product call the Swytch which allows you to bring your own device. We are looking at this now to handle Zoom requests.

    Is NUC running the CollabOS? What's the purpose of NUC?

  • @ExpertOfThings

    @ExpertOfThings

    No, the NUC doesn't run CollabOS, it runs a special version of Windows 10 with the preloaded MTR app. The NUC is the "brain" of the room system. CollabOS is Logitech's Android OS for it's non-Windows based syatems.

    How can I start Microsoft teams automatically when the Mini-PC turns on?

  • @ExpertOfThings

    @ExpertOfThings

    2 жыл бұрын

    If the mini PC is a certified, approved image, then Teams will automatically start and take over the displays. If it is running a DIY Windows image, you will want to properly re-image per Microsoft's guidance for re-imaging an MTR.

    @@adrian.garage it sounds like your mini PC was not shipped with the approved MTR image. The following link describes how to re-image the PC for the proper MTR image, that will do what you want: docs.microsoft.com/en-us/MicrosoftTeams/rooms/console

    Can someone tell me where's the benefit of having a NUC in the Setup? I mean, what's job of the NUC if you're setting up the whole Skype/Teams Accounting in the Tap itself? I guess it's establishing the connection to the Domain of the company? And on the PC there has to be a special meetingroom domain account with the MTR Version of Teams/Skype in order to have all possibilities shown on the Tap? Means everyone who uses the room has to know the credentials of the Meetingroom account? I really didn't get the whole setup overlooked from the software/installation side. Is there a proper guide somewhere? Thx in adavance and regards

    Monitor needs to connect to either a Windows 10 small form factor PC (like an Intel NUC, etc), or it can connect to a Logitech Roommate for an Android-based Microsoft Teams Rooms experience.

    Good video and thank you for the content. But it should have been one third as long - you spent way too much time going over basic stuff. Any IT professional looking to setup a Microsoft Teams room will not need assistance with plugging in a power cable, and does not need to be told that the cloth has the Logitech logo on it. Talk too much and people tune out. I only made it to 06:36 where the in-depth cloth and logo discussion told me it was time to stop.
