This is a fantastic setup. I loved mine and used it for about 3/4 of a year until the wheel starting shorting out during turning. Known problem with no fix. Upgraded to a Logitech G920 and kept the side panel. love it.

if you are a little good at repairing stuff you can easily fix the wheel, when it breaks. Its the wires inside that break, i replaced mine at it has worked in over a year now, and with all most 900 hours of use

@@noodlemedia2049 yes you should be able to solder them inside again but you have to replace the wiring that goes from the base up in the wheel or it will break again in the place you solder it

Thank you for this video. Nice to see what it actually looks like. I have an old Driving Force GT but my daughter has been really getting into Euro Truck Sim 2 and trying to share one wheel between two PCs is getting to be a hassle so I'm likely going to just hand down my DFGT to her and get something new for myself. I had considered buying this set and just using the wheel for other games as well even though having no force feedback on this would be a big minus, but it looks from the comments here that this wheel isn't made to last. I will likely just get the G29 then and buy the panel on its own. Thanks so much! This video and the comments really helped me come to a decision!

Best thing to do with the wheel is put it in the bin! I've had two and both failed within 6 months of purchase, same problem on both.. The cables inside the axle for the wheel twist become frayed and short out. The side panel is a good addition but one of the potentiometers for the joystick has a habit of being unresponsive during to the cables being too short and getting pulled out. Get a g920 and keep the panel.

My Saitek branded wheel failed inside of three weeks, the replacement also failed inside 3 weeks - near as I could determine a counter clockwise turn between 90 and 360 degrees caused a short in the USB circuit and all other devices on the circuit would shutdown too (USB 2.0), moving the wheel to a sharper or shallower turn angle would reset the circuit. Today I still use the side panel, but I'm using a G29 wheel. I'll be interested to see if these Logitech branded parts have improved reliability over the old Saitek unit.

That works just like the PS4 controller if you want the lights to work you got a hold down (R) one or one under the steering wheel and press the 4 button which would be the (O)on a PS4 controller the blinkers would also be (R) one or one which underneath the steering wheel and on the left side would be the right arrow or the left arrow as it would be on the PS4 controller that works exactly like what I have and this is the reason I wanted to watch the video was because it’s hard to operate logging equipment with a PS4 controller and that looks like that side panel will do just the job so much appreciate you put this video on here

I had the saitek wheel, and it had a horrible built-in deadzone. (In-game deadzone was 0 percent, but the wheel would still move two inches to either side before the game would respond.) It was so bad that I returned it after not even a week, and got the g29 instead. Has that deadzone been fixed on this new wheel? I'd love to be able to recommend it, as the rest of the setup was actually pretty good, but the deadzone I experienced was really horrible.

Does the side panel work out of the box as it did in FS15 showing what button number is used for whatever feature in your vehicle? FS17 didnt so that sucked.

This setup is awesome for Farming Simulator, for the few hours you will get out of it before something breaks. This is all Saitek quality with a Logitech logo on it. Had one myself, lasted about 5 hours until the steeringwheel stopped working. Please check out reviews on Amazon or something before buying this, considering about 50% of ppl there had a similar experience as I had

If it's an saitek version it's the old one, since Logitech bougth saitek and they rebrand the product and made some little improvement

My one question, if I have a g29, can I use the side panel seperately, for ETS2/ATS

i have to turn the wheel a bit before it registers in game that im turning about a forth of one turn and idk if thats normal ? is there any fix?

This might be a bit uninformed question but why only 2 pedals? IRL many if not most tractors have 4 - clutch, left and right brake, accelerator. Does the farming simulator have an option to brake steer at all?

If I play on Xbox. Is there a stand for this. It does not have to have a chair but the cheaper the better. And do they even make this for Xbox one

The side panel is spot on but the wheel gets kicked out and knocked out all the other gear keyboard mouse etc but this looks different

The dead zone on the steering wheel does not go away, at least I tried

Hey it's a long time when you uploaded this video and i'm wondering to buy this equipment. My only problem is that this deadzone can be configured to like real time movement? Cuz how that works in your video kinda sucks, you move like 5 cm and after that wheel in game starts turning. That can be changed or not? (Sorry for my English).

Update. As for now. No issue with side panel but wheel has a problem. When i turn right it turns instantly but when i turn left you need to turn your wheel like 2 cm to work and at Center it moves to right a little so i need to hold the wheel. I'm thinking about upgrade to Logitech G27/G920 with 6 gears or Truthmaster TMX Pro with 7 gears.

It will be interesting to see if this new Logitech version will eventually require the same upgrade which I have made on a number of the the old Saitek wheels........all of which are still going strong at 1000 hours/2 years plus.

do you use both panels together or do you just use the new one?

I know this video is several months old, but I have my fingers crossed for an answer: in the video, you briefly mentioned that you'd try to set up both panels for dual-stick control of the cranes and logging machines. Did you get that set up? Is it worth buying two for the ease of use/realism? Also, now that you've had the panels for a while, have you had any issues with breakage or parts not working correctly? Thanks.

For the 17 one it might break after about 3 months so just be a bit careful

U shouldn’t use it it gives trouble after a month I’ve had 3 replacemts sent to me and all stopped working but now I have the Logitech G29 with the side panel and it works amazing

i bought the set back in march off Amazon and it came in a Logitech branded box but the wheel and side panel was still branded Saitek. only used the wheel and pedals for farm sim and used the side panel for farm sim and ATS and ETS 2. after maybe 5 months the twist function on the side panel stopped working. i contacted Logitech and was sent a new side panel. i was told to destroy the old one and send pictures before they sent the new one outi. so i figured if it had to be destroyed i may as well take it apart. when i did i noticed 2 wires pulled off the joystick. they were just held on with shrink wrap so every time i would pull back on the joystick it would cause the wires to pull off the termanals. a quick solder job and it was working again. when i got the new one it was branded Logitech but i removed the bottom and found the new one was exactly the same, no solder just shrink wrapped. i was hoping with the Logitech name on there it would be made better but they aren't.

I hope logitech snuck a bit of their reliability and quality into this wheel.

Given how mine failed after a month of use with the potentiometer giving out, no. Waiting on my RMA to come in currently. Its a shame its so cheaply made, because it IS absolutely perfect for the game otherwise. Just needs maybe 1-2$ of investment in better components really.

@@Ethan-ck6iz I got this exact same wheel about 3 weeks ago, it lasted 5-6 hours. It looked identical, exept there was only a Saitek logo on it, and the only place it said Logitech was on the box. Pretty sure Logitech have done nothing to the wheel in the video, other then putting their logo on it. Kinda annoying because I rly enjoyed using it for the few hours it lasted. Find it surprising that Logitech wouldn't improve on it before selling it under their name, and out of atlest 30+ products I have bought from Logitech, this is the only one I've had quality issues with

Better to use a racing wheel and pedals and the Logitech side panel only (you can buy separately), as the wheel is pretty flimsy and the pedals are small and flimsy (all plastic)

Not sure if it does but if you are planning to use a wheel with FS and sim racing games get a G29 or G920 since those are designed for sim racing and also work with the side panel for FS.

i purchased this bundle about a year ago, it was Saitek branded and within the first 4 or so months the wheel developed a fault where in the games controllers settings on windows and all games there was an incredibly bad twitch caused by the wheel, had to make a video and send it to Logitech who sent out another Saitek replacement boxed in a logitech box and now the new one is starting to twitch in games. just a warning that may come to yours as well, once mine gets to the point its unbearable i will send in a support request again.
