Logitech G600 Button Repair - No Soldering

How to fix the double click of death on a Logitech G600. For this repair I did not de-solder and re-solder the mouse buttons.
I recorded this two weeks ago, and ever since I have had zero problems with the buttons on my mouse.

Thanks for the tutorial! I love the G600 because it's the only mouse that has a separate third mouse button for the ring finger. That way you can have middle click there. It really makes a huge difference using middle click just for browsing and stuff for me. But I gone through a few because of double click issue, gonna start resoldering new switches now. Thanks again!

@@TheCassla Well the good news is the G600 seems to be going up in value haha. I'm looking into building something like this now: www.reddit.com/r/ErgoMechKeyboards/comments/gqmyy2/track_beast_build_log_a_trackball_dactylmanuform/ Using the trackball on a keyboard you basically have 15 mouse buttons :)

Good video ! Thanks to you, my left button is still alive now! I was having a random problem with unintentional double left clicking. Personally, I tested 2 tips that work for me: 1) if you press a little hard on the 2 sliding pads with your fingers, you should feel the 4 holes of the 4 crusiform screws. with the back of the mouse facing you, the top leftmost hole is a fake hole...the real hole is 4mm to its right. Look the guy on the vidéo to help you. 2) I used a 4mm metal drill bit which is perfect for drilling (by hand) the correct clearance for the screws. then I chamfered at 8mm (by hand) to deburr because the glide of my mouse was less good because of the plastic residue. perhaps deburring with a cutter would have been just as effective. I haven't tested. 3) I didn't buy any other switches, I opened the G button switch that I don't use (under the ring finger) and I recovered the super fragile metal strip, to exchange it with the Left click button faulty. This is the most difficult, delicate part... you have to engage the part at the top and bottom of the metal stip then push vertically on the "spring" last. Not easy... I thought I wouldn't make it! you have to take your time and be meticulous! But now that my left click is working again, I'm happy to have tried the repair as described in this beautiful video! THANKS

Exchanging the metal spring was certainly the most tedious part. I almost gave up. Such a good idea to just use the G button spring as a replacement. I bought the replacement ones on Amazon and they worked as well.

Hello, I had this double clicking problem happening erratically for years now, I supposed it was a hard ware problem but was afraid to go and poke around. After seeing your video, I decided to give it a try. I didn't have spare parts, but I figured doing some cleaning, and reshaping the spring a little wouldn't hurt, And it fixed the problem. I don't know how long it'll hold, but thank you for your precious advises .

Thank you so much for the tutorial. One thing I would have liked you to go over in a bit more detail was the actual placement of the metal spring. I think I spent 2 hours trying to set mine correctly; I kept trying to put it in at a slightly wrong angle and as I'd try to lock it in it would go flying back out. I *think* the answer was to slide the back (the part with the metal "tab" that actually makes the contact that is read as the click) against the top contact first, basically as far back as it will go, then hold it in place, and kind of pull the other end (with the ring/hole) over its contact with tweezers, and if you're really perfect it will snap in. Definitely was a big frustration for me, and something I had a hard time seeing in the video itself. That said, I got it in the end, and you saved me at least $100 on a new mouse, at least for a while. :-)

Nice video. Another thing to note is if you do not have another switch handy is you can desolder the 3rd mouse button, especially if like me you never use it, and use that switch to replace the left mouse button switch. In my case it's basically a new switch. You obviously end up with the 3rd switch having the double click problem but if you don't use welp who cares!

You can try to fix it with an Autohotkey skript to prevent fast doubleclicking. Try this script: ~LButton::return ; Set A_PriorHotkey. #If A_PriorHotkey != "" && A_TimeSincePriorHotkey LButton::return ; Block hotkey. You can still doubleclick with this, but you have to do it slower as it blocks the mouse button for 200ms. You`d have to install Autohotkey, insert the script in an editor and safe it with .ahk ending, then run it.

I would recommend to buy universal mouse pads ans stick them on mouse in any place you want. But notice, some universal pads could be too thin, so you will have to stick them over "border" which surrounds default G600 pads (because they height could be lower then height of those "border"). I use mousepads which were in a box with mousepad, and sticked them over "border".

I pulled this up since I didn't want to screw up those plastic tabs, put a dream cable in this pupper which makes this mouse feel even better (shoe lace cable vs stiff annoyance). That said for those watching make sure to clamp the mouse cable to the shell BEFORE dropping the board back in. I learned this the hard way and ended up with a stuck g-shift button, resulting in having to open it back up to do it the right way. Given the stiffness of the weave of the original cable might not be an issue doing it that way, but just something I thought to point out.

So i got the double click problem. But i fixed it without opening the unit at all. I put my lips to the left click button (the one that was double and triple clicking) and blew in it, not exceedingly hard either. just sorta lightly to add Humidity from my breath into the unit. Where i live is pretty dry, and i read a guy used a humidifier to get his double clicking issue to go away. So i thought what the hay, ill give it a go. This isn't a nintendo cartridge but, if its humidity it wants.. and sure enough it worked! I've not had 1 single double click in 4 days since humid-blowing into it!? So, maybe try very softly blowing in first? -then- move on to disassembly.
