Logically Questionable Grade Timer Signals - 8th Ave/Fulton St EXPRESS Line

DISCLAIMER: Comments regarding NYC Subway personnel are not meant to attack such personnel - they are stated for unbiased, objective reasons.
Have you ever wondered why your ride up or down the 8th Avenue Line express sometimes slows down randomly? This is a montage outlining particular "grade timer" signals that do a bit more than slow trains to posted safe speeds. Whether you are riding ancient R32 trains or brand new R179 trains, no train is a match for grade timer signals, which in recent years have been placed in areas that make no sense.

there is so much potential for higher speeds on the fulton line, but these pointless signals stop it

The timers along the entire A line are ridiculous. Slow for no reason.

In the 1990s the MTA had to deal with a variety of speed related train crashes. Ever since then, the MTA has used Grade timer (GT) signals to enforce an unconditional speed limit to control speed related crashes. Even though they are a pain, it is a very safe system. Now, the MTA's s.p.e.e.d. program has changed the systems slow GT signals.
