what a latency issue when you pull the sounds from the SSD on the go? Also - Do you think that if I used the SSD throught the hub (on my mac m1) it would slow it down even further?

Hello, No, I didn't notice any latency or slowdown because using a hub. SSD drives are very fast and also the M1 Pro is great. In fact, I'm using the M1 Pro on the go but the SSD drive goes straight into the port with no problem. You should be good.

@@SoIDoNotForget Hi, thank you very much for the responce. :) Now I wish I bought the 512gb mac m1, but considering the hub - I got to have the one with the charging through feature - the second thunderbolt will be occupied by the focusrite sound card. In the hub I will have the midi controlller inserted throught a classic usb and I wonder if I need a usb c connector or standart usb 3.0 or 3.2 connection for the external ssd drive. And this is the thing, if a midi akai and the ssd hooked into the hub will not slow down the workflow :-/

@@user-ev9fj8md2p Hello, sure thing. I actually have a 500GB and sometimes I run out of space, I didn't get the 1 TB because $$ were adding to the bill. But I got the SSD external that's where I stored all my libraries from different software. I don't think it will be an issue, I have connected several drives regular USB and Type C Drive with no problem. Even using a controller and an interface. You might need an adapter for the SSD drive, maybe.

Stupid question. Does relocating mean making a copy and relocating, or does it actually mean the full definition of "relocate" the content, frees up space on HD?

  • @SoIDoNotForget

No problem. What it means is, it will move files from one location to a new location to free up space from your local HD. So the files will be deleted from HD and saved into a new drive.

Does this move third-party libraries as well?

Hum, you mean libraries like output or native instruments, if so, they need to be done/relocated individually.

Bro when i unplug and again plug in the ssd..it fail to detect sound library from external ssd. It says to download the library again..also it appears grey in relocate (sound exist in this location )

Hum, I do unplug the drive sometimes specially for traveling but still tecognise the location of the sounds. Try to plug when computer is off, turn the computer on and run Logig pro right after. If still happened I would recomed reinstalling sound library once again.

One thing I would do since I'm not 100% sure how is that error and why. Try to repeat the process and verify that all locations are properly assigned.
