I don't agree that it all sounds manufactured. It CAN sound like that if you allow it to but with loose quantising, velocity adjustments and special attention to the humanize function, you can lift it above the dull, lifeless stuff beginners come out with. It's like anything, it's how you apply yourself to the task. With enthusiasm and attention to detail you can make ordinary become extraordinary.

Don’t get me wrong, I think this and the last update are good moves and I’m excited for the beginners who can really benefit from it, but is there anything new a seasoned pro can take advantage of other than the new saturation plugin?

Have you seen the MIDI Input routing feature? That has many implications. I would also look at the ability to bounce external instruments or I/O in real time. There are some Marquee tool improvements as well.

Just a tip as an educator of 20 years. Slow down everything to a speed that is easy to follow. It is a common mistake with beginning teachers, they speak far too fast and you see it all the time on computer instruction videos. The instructor flies around the screen clicking the way they do as a user, which is not how somebody trying to learn something new absorbs information...

It falls flat... What would really be useful is to be able to drag a midi track up to the Chord track and have the Chord track auto populate the chords. Also, to be able to lock a midi input to the chord track would be awesome for creating in-key melodies. Oh well, maybe next time.

You can definitely do something similar if the Apple Loops contain the chordal information within their metadata. Your second point sounds awesome and someone already did it. Company is called “Feel Your Sound” product is called “melodic flow”. Would be nice if it was built on (I’m sure it’s coming 😉)

Does not work that way sir. You can assign the Chords on the “Chord Track” first and then ask the midi to follow the chord track. I’ll be talking about this on my next video.

@@thatlogicproguy it would be ideal to be able to drop midi chords or record real time playing chords. But as it is, it doesn’t serve a productive purpose. The time it takes to input each chord progression for an entire song would is a waste because you can record your progressions bass and melodies at a more productive time frame. Imagine writing an entire composition by limiting only writing the notes and chords. This design is kick in the face to musicians wanting backing bass and keys. This function has been in Cubase since 2016.

I think that this part of the update is great, especially for beginners. I already use drummer to help sketch out ideas and can see myself using bass player as well to assist with the initial idea. I only wish they had added a session guitar. In my opinion, that has been Logic’s achilles heel. The guitars either didn’t sound realistic or weren’t able to be easily programmed. It would be great to have a session guitar so I don’t have to run to third parties like Native Instruments just to get a strumming pattern
