Follow along as I build a logging arch for my equipment trailer. It will allow me to load logs for the mill without having a tractor onsite.

Great Job Brother!!!! I have been wanting to make a logging arch - already have the 12k Warn winch. Love the way you made it!!!!!!!!!!!

Mount a pulley on the arch, going back towards winch , anchored to trailer to reduce effort on winch, great rig. Look into snatch blocks for when you can't get close.

A short section of angled kick near the pivot could allow resting the arch on the deck.

Good idea. The Forestry Forum has been showing those builds for the last 20 years. Originally shown by a logger in Florida. Good video.

Consider mounting a full width roller on the back edge of the trailer.

Nice job on the arch. If you make any changes you could do a walk around video of the trailer. Looks like quite a few upgrades on it. 😎🚜🇺🇲🦌

That is almost too easy when you think of the hours of hard work its going to save you on rocks in logs and getting loaded off of site... good for you sir.

That was one of my biggest motivations for building it. Keeping the dirt and rocks out of the bark to make the blades last longer. Glad you enjoyed the build.

Hey buddy I'm watching you do this trailer on your swing arm that pulls the logs up That's cool what attaches to it those pieces that you welded into the trailer they should be straight up and down that way you get a little more angle with that and it would help it a lot better I'm just trying to help you out a little bit those two pieces that you welded in Make the pivot point straight up and down try that I think that would be better for you let me know will you please

Hi Joe. Man, that's a great point. I didn't even think of that. I can totally see what you mean by putting those points vertical I would get more pivot on the arch. I'll give that a try. Thanks so much for the input!!

Why not just run that hoop at the back of the trailer where the winch is. The height is enough to drag timber over the lip of the trailer. Run a single shive on the hoop and pull logs in a single maneuver. I have a similar setup on a 5th gooseneck trailer but I have a live roll to help things slide over the lip.

I'm not sure if I would have enough height for the log to clear the back deck of the trailer. I will give it a try though. A roller on the back is a good idea either way. Thanks for the input.

So whats gonna happen when you strap a real big log on there and pull it up where it tips over? Since the arch doesnt completely fold over wont it. Snap it or crumple it ?

I only plan on lifting 24" or so max logs as that's about all I can handle with my tractor to load on the mill. With a long enough choker chain the log will rest on the back of the trailer before the log arch stops its downward movement. Another viewer suggested putting the clevis pivots vertical, which would allow full range of motion for the arch. Great idea that I'll try next time.

the metal looks a bit flimsy for a decent size log

So far it has handled about a 24" pine. My saw only cuts up to 30" so I'm not moving huge logs. It was leftover used steel I had on hand from building my sawmill trailer so I made it work. Square tubing would have been my choice if I was buying material to build it. But so far so good.

Why not use a truck bed crane on the side of the trailer?
@hunterscreekfarm95665
Жыл бұрын
Main reason is capacity. Some logs are thousands of pounds. Plus it would put all the weight on one side of the trailer and be harder to remove when not using the trailer for logs.

You need to volume level your vids eq.. normalize it in studio.. is good that its lowered -8.1db but in turn that causes things like your intro to be super loud then talking all low until you make any noise on the video like grinding then viewers are constantly turning volume up and down the whole time.. you can really tell when you transition from talking to the music youve added.. that kind of video editing with the volumes overlooked bugs the shit outta me.. but other than that you do a good job vlogging projects..

I use Movavi Studio software and am struggling to normalize the audio. I have to adjust each clip manually, no auto feature that I've found yet. I'm new to this editing and still working on it. Does KZread studio have an auto equalizer feature?

Do it the opposite way you put the log on the trailer.
