Charles saying "I'm sorry" is heartbreaking. If you've ever cared for someone with dementia or something like it, you've seen the same thing. The shame that they can no longer control their own mind. This movie is so brutal, and not just because of the gore.

Never had to care for someone but I'll say those people who do are heroes to me. I wish he would’ve gotten nominated. Since the movie got a screenplay nom I’d say he probably wasn’t that far off. I think Harrelson just sorta jumped ahead of him in the race once 3 billboards started over performing everywhere. Had woody not been there I think Stewart would’ve gotten nominated. He needed some more recognition in major precursors considering what genre of movie this technically was. But was still super happy it still got nominated in a major category.

It’s wild remembering that the suspected reason that Logan’s powers started to deteriorate wasn’t just his age but the fact that the Transigen was mutating food to prevent mutants. It could also double as to why Charles started faltering. His powers are directly connected to his mind, and with the food; Charles started to lose his mind and thus lose his control over his powers. Turning him from this one sharp and supreme intelligence to just raw psychic power.

IDK why, but seeing X-23 trying her hardest to crawl towards Xavier with his medicine is the cutest thing ever. Also, I remember being in theaters watching with my wife. Crazy scene you had to experience in the theaters.

What confuses me is, after being stabbed through the head why is the merc still standing like he is frozen? Charles' power doesn't actually freeze the person, just stops their mind causing paralysis. The moment a person dies their mind can no longer be controlled and their body should just crumple to the floor.

  • @tonefaulcon9729

Not actually. In the comics Charles is not only telepathic, he’s also telekinetic. His telekinesis isn’t anywhere near as strong has his telepathy, but it’s no joke. I think the people downstairs and further away are being affected by Charles’ telepathy, but the people upstairs closer to Charles are also being affected by his telekinesis. Notice how Logan doesn’t have a problem moving until he gets out of the elevator and gets closer to Charles. I think this is all a throwback to the same type of telekinetic power we saw Jean use in XMen 3. Telekinesis would keep them physically frozen in place until Charles let them go.

A little nitpick of mine in this scene is that, the mercenaries that Logan stabs should fall dead on the floor since Charles' seizure causes a mental attack, and mental attacks shouldn't work on dead people. Everything else in this scene is *perfect*. The music and the sound design really sells the anxiety and severity of the situation
