I personally overexpose my f log footage by 1 stop and I've been very happy with my results. As someone who shoots with all these brands from time to time fuji wins in the battle of the colors! Great video Harv!

Great video sir. So far I find that Clog 10 bit on my Canon R5 works quite well overexposed by about 2/3d to 1 stop. Looking forward to them adding Clog 3 to the Camera. On my Fuji, FLog is indeed super forgiving and very easy to work with.

I struggle with slog 3...switched to a smaller profile 🙈 Love your Videos!

Do you know which maximizes dynamic range? I'm not sure if you've done any tests, but there is SLOG3, Alex'as Log C, and Panasonic's V-log for example. I'm trying to determine which offers the best DR.

Can you make an updated one and this time add BMPCC and Panasonic's log profile?

I actually picked up an XT3 used, because the 10-bit Flog option is quite nice, however, I never knew how to ""properly" expose. I just keep the zebras (

I’ve tried using the smaller colour spaces but find them a little too...well, small 😂 i prefer using s.gamut3cine (I really don’t like regular s.gamut, too big and greeny-looking for me) and push up the saturation in camera. I find this method gives you the combo of a bigger colour space to work with plus an easier time with grading (and less banding too). I’m so ready for my a7s3 preorder to arrive to see for myself how the colours have improved, videos on this to follow for sure!

Very interesting! Was hoping to see a comparison with D-log as used on DJI drones, but I guess that is outside the scope of this video which seems to be focused on handheld cameras. Good info nonetheless!

Thanks for a nice comparison! Based on your results, would you say that the Phantom LUTs for S-Log2 can easily be applied to F-Log footage without any color space transform? I used to own an a6300 and loved the colors I got with the Phantom LUTs, and now I am using them for my X-T4 footage!

@@sunnyt383 yes, I have used them with a Color Space Transform node (F-Log/Rec.2020 to S-Log3/SGamut3) applied first in DaVinci Resolve.

Great explanation. 🔥 I want to know that does S-log3 of sony A7iii and S-log3 of a6400 give same dynamic range? And how much more dynamic range a7siii's 10 bit S-log3 provides than sony 6400's S-log3?

I feel slog 3 gets blotchy on a7iii due to 8 bit , better go with slog 2

I think the dynamic range is still the same, the difference is on the durability of the file

I know native Log is better. But can you tell me the difference between the native Log and the Log installed via Picture Style?

The video threw me for a loop when after all this analysis of video footage, he talked about how he doesn't like mushrooms. Strange conclusion.

What happened to your video? Are you using a Black MIST filter or something like it?

It’s called shallow depth of field 😂 shot at F1.8 I think

I thought I had to expose for highlights... Other way around apparently :) Color accuracy without all the fiddling is nice on #Canon #r5 - not all about dynamic range. no body looks at 1 more stop missing of dynamic range and goes bananas! better optics will help here also.
