Locksmith Life - Mortice Methods - scoping a three lever Union lock

Ойын-сауық

A new working area for me, a new customer but a familiar type of job.
In this episode I use a sledgehammer to crack a nut! Instead of working through endless combinations of try-out keys I use my 70 degree scope with phone adaptor to view to lock I twrnals prior to closing the closest and most suitable try-out key. This works to great effect and gets the lock open quickly and proficiently.
To be fair it would be even quicker to overlift or use a 2-in-1 but this method works just the same with most 5 lever non-curtained mortice locks and I had the luxury of time to play and demonstrate the working method in action.
If you would like to know more or even attend some bespoke training with me to learn this method and many more then drop me a comment and we can set that up.
Many thanks is for watching and your continued support.

Thank you my friend - much appreciated. Most people see the effort and dedication, others just put it down or spend their lives hating. I hope you have taken something away for yourself. ☺️

I have moved area and basically starting again. It’s really hard leaving so many existing and good clients behind but life moves on as does a locksmith. Good job it’s a portable business so to speak. 😀

Look on eBay at the Chinese Boroscopes. Then look online for the corresponding light source. That’s what I did to be fair. 😀 Good luck.

As I said it’s a sledgehammer to crack a nut but this technique practiced on lowly 3 lever locks will work just as well on more complex 5 lever locks with anti-pick etc. I have pieces of wire, I have 2-in-1’s, I have overlifters, I have try-out keys - so many methods but the more guesswork you can take out of the equation to more you become a true locksmith and less of a lucksmith.
