A thin layer of high-quality Merino wool is sufficient, providing an initial warmth layer to the body, transporting moisture into the 3D-Mesh, and keeping your body dry even during physical activity. The 3D-Mesh-Tech System also creates an air cushion between the outer material (and water temperature) and your body. Because air is an optimal insulator, you don't need additional layers. So, in both summer and winter, a thin layer of Merino wool is enough, as the Mesh-System serves a ventilating function in the summer, and Merino wool helps regulate your body temperature.
