I have to say I really love to watch/listen to that old stitching machine, it reminds me of the machines my folks had once worked with in old textiles. I like those "Brit Soles", you made quick work of them, I wonder how they feel under the feet... The Creme you put on the boots, I think the slight "darkening" gave the leather a richer appearance, very nice! Your expression in the blooper reel @21:58.😄

Good to see you replaced the mid sole, I had a resole done by Loake to a pair of Loake boots very similar to the ones in this video , (Tewkesbury design) and they came back minus the mid sole when I mentioned this by e mail and a few phone calls to people higher up staff list I was sent a copy of Loakes' catalogue to choose a pair of boots so I picked a pair of blue Bedale lace up boots costing £295 ...all I wanted was a £90 repair

I've got a similar pair of Loakes. One extra thing you can do when polishing is use some Acetone (nail varnish temover) on a cloth to remove where any polish has got on the elastic parts on the sides.

WARNING stop now! do not put hoosier slicks on you car to chase a ten. I ran a 13 sec quarter in my pop ten years ago, i am now chasing 8`s in my front engined dragster. Put them slicks on ya muscle car and it`s a road to ruin! SERIOUSLY ADDICTIVE FUN!! Just bought my first two pair of loakes and waiting on some JL boots! Keep up the content it is seriously good. Love watching your videos, I live across the pond, so I don't know how much you'd charge US for a resole. I was thinking of having you do a repair for my boss, who is a church pastor. I came across your channel before he rehired me, and I had already thought of having you do your work on his shoes.

I was listening to an episode of “Mark Steel’s in Town” in Tring from 2022 and he mentioned the shop.

Love your channel Dan , you really know your stuff , , , do you ever get customers come in with repairs or alterations to sports footwear , like ice/hockey skates , figure skates , ski boots , mountain climbing shoes , ice climbers spiked footwear and stuff like that , or are you mostly just everyday shoe repair ? , something like that could make for an interesting video , , , looking forward to your next job/video 👍👍👍 .

Reminds me of the guy who put his shoes in the cobblers for new sole and heels. On his way home he bumped into an old school friend and was talked into joining the merchant navy. He was away for 14 years. When he came home he found the ticket for the cobbler repair and handed it in out of curiousity. The cobbler looked at the ticket and went into the back of the shop. He came back after 10 minutes and said to the guy, "they'll be ready on tuesday"! 🤣

I didn't realise that people still had shoes repaired. I havent worn dress shoes in decades and haven't seen a shoe repair place for about as long. That being said, these repairs were strangely satisfying to watch.

Shoe repair shops are very common place you still get timpsons on the high street but I prefer independent local business shoe repair shops I used to see a few around where i live but most have shut down but they are most definitely still around and always will be around

The Loake look great. I don't know why Laboutin can't use proper red rubber soles instead of a bit of paint that wears off as soon as a pavement looks at it.

I always wondered how the sanding machines are cleaned, especially with all those fine leather and rubber particles

Hi Dan, brilliant work as always! I have a question outside of the episode. Outside your shop, it has all the services that you offer beyond shoe repair. Was it always this way, or have these services been added over time? I see similar approaches at most shoe repair shops here in the states. A shop that is just straight shoe repair seems to be a dying breed. Sorry if this comes off as intrusive to your business. I was just curious.
