Loading Your Quilt TWO WAYS On A Longarm! HQ Watch & Learn Episode 3

This week on the HQ Watch and Learn Quilting Show - HQ Educators Johnny and Kim show you how to properly load a quilt on a longarm frame, showing both Standard and Clearview setups. BONUS! They race to see who is the speediest (and who maybe accidentally stabbed their finger with a needle and didn't mention it.)
If you have an older frame that doesn't adjust for the different setups, we have a sale on the sidearm upgrade kit this week. You can find it at:

I had hoped this would be more of a step by step instructional video of the close up view on the how to’s of loading the quilt. I feel like the instructions got lost when she wanted to turn this into a speed contest on who could load the fastest. I had to look fo another video to help me understand better.

I usually enjoy HQ videos but this one is very frustrating. If I knew how to load this would be fun. I bought my Amara online so the videos are the only way for me to learn. I’m overwhelmed by the machine and I don’t think I’m alone. Please redo and make how to load more clear.

I am seriously thinking of purchasing a used Avanti which has an 18 inch throat. I was looking at the Amara that Kim was using and although it is 2 inches wider than the Avanti didn't look like it had much quilting space. Can you help me with my decision Kim? Does size really matter? I will be a hobbyist but am open to a part time side gig if I have the skills.

I purchased my Forte and Gallery 2 Frame this summer and am just now wanting to do more FMQ and ruler work. I watched this video to learn the difference between the 2 views and how to switch between the 2 views but then when I went to switch between the 2 views on my frame it won't budge. When I reached out to my dealer they basically said I'd have to (almost) dismantle the frame to be able to switch between standard and clear and that I agreed to standard view at the time of my set up! Can someone help me understand why it is so simple in the video demo but my dealer is saying I'd have to dismantle the frame to switch between? Very frustrating!

A new video on this subject will be airing Dec 19!! With your frame, there are two ways to adjust the sidearms to load the fabric. One way is a little easier for access to your bobbin area. The other way is easier for doing ruler work. Both ways are great and it is a personal preference as to which way you choose. It will make a little more sense when you have the frame set up and see how it can adjust.
