Loading an E-bike by Yourself, without Lifting it!

Thanks for watching, we hope you found this video helpful.
The label came off my dog ramp, but the following company name is engraved on it “Solvit Pet Ramps”.
I bought it about 5 years ago on Amazon and my exact model is not listed there any longer, but similar ones are on Amazon. If you google “Solvit Dog Ramps you will find about 10 other companies selling these type ramps.
A 50 gallon Sterilite storage bin purchased at Walmart, is what I use to put my e-bike in, as shown in this video.
Sterilite Bin Dimensions
Product Depth
39.75 inches
Product Height
17.875 inches
Product Width
21.5 inches
Height Clearance Needed
With the handlebars folded down you need 33 and 3/4 inches height opening in a SUV for this model Lectric e-bike to be able to slide in the rear of the vehicle.
Thanks again for watching the video.
Shown in this video:
We purchased our e-bikes from Lectric, they ship them free and fully assembled right to your door. (Model XP 2.0 ST) The quality of the bikes is outstanding, they are very reliable and have excellent engineering. We love how they fold, two of them easily fit in our SUV for transporting to the bike trails. We am able to travel up to 35 miles on the new 14 amp extended range battery using the throttle only and 42 miles peddling with partial electric motor assist.
Please take a look at our 20 other bike trail videos and please subscribe to our channel. Thanks, so much.

    As an old guy who has to load two folding ebikes, just two suggestions. You need a strap on that pet ramp to prevent it from sliding off your tail gate and second, use a pool noddle on the e-bike when you fold it to prevent wear.

  • @Paul_Paula

    @Paul_Paula

    9 ай бұрын

    Good ideas, but my ramp is designed not to slip and it has never done so while loading or unloading our e-bikes. Some folding ebikes might benefit from putting some sort of padding between their frame while folded, but ours have not shown any wear from traveling to over 25 trailheads. I believe keeping our folded handle bars outside the bin helps guard against any frame surface rubbing.

    I opted for the Husky 45 gallon tote with wheels. Other videos highlight this. However, after watching this video I remember I had an old dog ramp in my storage. BRILLIANT. I load so I needed a good option to get it into the SUB. Ramp doesn’t take up much space at all and the Tote keeps everything neat and secure. It’s a bit awkward at first but what a great solution to a weighty problem.

I saw someon use a 50 gallon Craftsman tote for the Lectric 3.0 they had it folded but fully assembled and could contain entire thing in totoe. It did stick out above. and they did remove the seat i believe to get it into the back of their SUV. And they could fit 2 of them side by side in the back of the SUV.

    I just watched this clip -- I'm 5 foot 2 inches tall, and I'm a 60 year old woman. There is No Way I could pull that contain up the ramp like he did, given his height and him being a man, having more body strength than I do. So, I would be at the bottom of the ramp, pushing the container up the ramp. He does have a good procedure there for getting a heavy item up into a SUV

  • @KOrnhOliO1

    @KOrnhOliO1

    @@StormyPeakthe ramp needs to be longer so it's not such a steep hill to push the bin up. Another guy said he uses bins with wheels built into them. Hmmm? Yet another says he uses those furniture movers with wheels and rolls it right on up and in. I think the furniture movers would have to have a plate out on the back edge so the bin wouldn't slide off the furniture mover. A simple mod. Just a piece of wood sticking up from the back edge of the mover. Best of luck! This has been a hurdle for many of us, I'm sure!

    @@KOrnhOliO1 I worked for 25 years in my family's home furnishing store. We sold flooring, (carpet, vinyl, laminate..ect). Plus appliances, furniture, custom cabinets and window treatments. I was one of the delivery 'men'....even though I was a woman, and as mentioned, only 5 foot 2 inches tall. Of course, all the weight of a roll carpet or vinyl got tilted to my end when the person at the other end was a 6 foot tall installer. But at least I always knew what side the compressor was on a chest freezer and took the lighter end...lol. Anyway, in you talking about carts, I think the best thing for loading that bike would be a flat cart. Put the bin on the flat cart and roll it up the ramp. (We use to use flat carts all the time for moving larger rolls of carpet around.) The cart, only being a few inches high could then just be stored to the side on end, along with the ramp and not take up a lot room. If a pre-bought cart was too heavy, or too wide, for something like that bike, it would be very simple to just get a piece of plyboard, and 4 coaster type wheels and custom make one that would go up a narrower ramp.

    Happy Thanksgiving Paul and Paula your video has made my upcoming holiday fantastic. Got all the pieces giving it all the test over the next few days and your video has made it possible for us and believe me so many others. I hope you don’t mind but I have sent your link to everyone I know with elective bikes. But this no lift idea can be made to load anything you can contain and slide up the ramp. Thanks again for sharing this simple and brilliant idea. Funny side note friends who have the larger super expensive bikes are trying to figure a way to do this, good luck to them.

    Thanks again, Jay. I am glad you like working smarter, rather than harder. The ramp sure does save us from lifting the full weight of the bikes. Blessings on your Thanksgiving.

    Now there's a great idea 💡! I actually asked a few guys just yesterday how a retired senior is supposed to get an ebike into their car or truck. 65lbs, like the one he's demonstrating with, is a lightweight ebike. The one's I am looking at weigh 82 to up to 100 lbs! Most are over 75 lbs. CraZy heavy for a person over 65 to load! Way to solve a problem that seriously has prevented me from even buying one. I was thinking the only place I could ride it was departing on the ride from my home. Very limiting. This idea is a damn good one! Thanks! 😎🤘

    I use a similar method for my tandem and stretch bikes. I have a 8 ft cargo bed on my pickup truck and the pickup truck tailgate is rather high. I use a folding 3 piece cargo ramp to load and unload my heavy long bikes. This ramp will definitely save one's back in the long run.

    Another tip- For easy loading of any size bikes onto a rear hitch bike rack. With bike along the side of the rack, pull on the rear brake lever and pull the front end of the bike into a “wheely”- lifting the front wheel onto the end of the rack. Then you can lift the back while rolling the bike forward onto the rack. This method reduces the lift weight by half.

    Hi guys. Don’t want to bore you with my issues but still haven’t been able to ride the new bike. Had set back and still no. Ops date . I told Lectric bikes they should watch your video on the no lift system after watching a young strong back demonstrating how light it was by pressing it like a weight lifter on their site. Most people would opt for your system over trying that any day. So keep up the great job with the videos through those I feel like I’m there too. Jay

    @@Paul_Paula I gave you all the credit so maybe you’ll get big checks in the mail, you should. Kind of funny discussion over the holiday with friends who bought non folding bikes. They have over $8k in the two bikes rack cover etc. Class 1 only no throttle to help to get going . The wife hates her bike and just wanted a little bike like my wife’s 20” Ancheer fold up @ $650 from Amazon. My wife loves it and won’t let me get her anything else and has had nothing other than tires wearing quickly go wrong with it. We could by 6 Lectrics and have 5 in reserve for that kind of dough. Very entertaining out here.

    Thank you. I'm shopping for an ebike and have considered the Lectric 3.0 just for the ease of putting in my Outback. I was thinking of a dog ramp too. I have a crappy back and really need to be kind to it if I'm to get any enjoyment in my old age. As to the Lectric, I'm hesitant as I have put a 750 watt minimum in my search. I've got some hills to contend with.

    You are welcome Steve, glad you found this helpful. I am 75 years old, 6’ at 205 lbs and the 2.0 Lectric gets me up the hills with no problems. Plus, with a bad knee, I do throttle only with no peddling. The new and more powerful 3.0 Lectric should do even better on the hills. I used to lift my bikes into my SUV, but threw my back out, now I have solved that problem with the dog ramp and sliding the bins into my vehicle. Thanks for watching our videos.
