LMS Fowler 3F Jinty 0-6-0T
A look at two preserved Jinties, 47324 (East Lancashire Railway) and 47406 (Great Central Railway). 47406 is captured on her travels at Barrow Hill Roundhouse (including shed pilot duties shunting Duchess of Sutherland), Epping Ongar Railway, Ecclesbourne Valley Railway and Llangollen Railway.

    The Jinty was the first model engine my grandfather gave me for my model railway many years ago so I’ve always had a special place in my heart for them.

    ​@@Rusty-the-datsun And E2s are WAY too big. Just because he has a dipped front running board doesn't mean he's automatically that type of engine. Awdry himself seems to regret that declaration. Thomas Comes to Breakfast was specifically meant to remove Thomas's front dip.

    @@Boypogikami132 the jinty seems to be the closest thing left to the E-2s besides if you told me Thomas was based on the jinty I’d believe you

    @@jonathancruz562 they were poorly balanced, which caused them to wobble from side to side, and they weren't powerful enough to do much of anything either

    E2 is popular but not that good mostly the only thing it’s good for is shunting

    @@jonathancruz562 there was 2 types: Normal E2 and Modified E2. The modifieds were more efficient than the normal e2s. So shut up.

    I know thomas was biased on the E2 but the 3F looks like him too Tbh I feel like the 3F is the cousin to the E2

    Thomas isn’t a jinty, he is a class E2 0-6-0

    Close but not quite. Thomas was an E2 but the last of them were scrapped in 1965 or 1966. They are more than a bit similar in appearance, however.

    I think I prefer thomas as a jinty in my head cannon, E2 thomas is a tad too...beefy if that makes any since

    The E2 and 3F were quite similar in appearance. There are those who say that the E2 had some design flaws and as a result they weren't near as good as the 3F class engines. Seeing as the the last of the E2 class tank engines were scrapped back in the mid 1960's, it's pretty much a moot point.
