We’ll have to see what 2023 has in store for us, but man, I feel that this is the year for Tweek

They still don't have the same pedigree as leo although the margin is obviously becoming thinner and thinner. Really exciting to see regardless where they all fall, Im a huge tweek fan

Tweek 4.0 managed to best Mkleo and Spargo in the same tourney. This version has proven worthy, but let's patch out whatever Tweek was thinking at 21:50. You should add more of those parries though

He was probably trying to cover if Spargo up-b'd further out rather than directly under the ledge. Clouds do that mix-up a lot where they up-b early then drift to ledge.

Spoilers down below Being a Tweek fan has always been an emotional rollercoaster for me. It was rough when he got reverse 6-0ed in Evo grands and it was a big what if he won that event. Then he got reverse 3-0ed by Leo the rest of the year in most of their sets. However seeing him bounce back and win Ultimate Summit 3, Port Priority, and now this it was all worth being a fan. Congrats Tweek, you started the year off strong and I hope you continue to win and place highly at majors.

Happy for Tweek on winning 1st at the start of the year. Spargo and Tweek are my top favorite players to see in grands. Excited to see their next encounter again.

That was the most intense battle between Tweek and Sparg0 I’ve ever seen. The way Tweek plays with Diddy isn’t great, it’s an artwork and he never ceases to amaze me lol.

Yo, he did not say "Play more calm" as some like to claim. After the win, Tweek said "Plenty more to come" to Sparg0. As in, they'll play plenty more times in the future. He clarified this in his latest Twitch video around the 28 minute mark. He definitely wasn't giving Sparg0 unsolicited advice. :)

Spargo's use of falling forward air to cover above and below a platform is nuts. It's like a giant shield that'll send you across the stage if you hit it and most projectiles are nullified. I'm beginning to appreciate his creativity with Cloud more and more

Looking like sparg0 tweek grand finals is quickly becoming a classic

One thing I've seen people not pointing out about Tweek playstyle today is that he was VERY patient. He studied Spargo in the first games and then created a strategy that ultimately paid off big time. Tweel had absolute control in the last match and this is one of the very few instances you see Spargo struggling to even play the game. Tweek full commitment and calm mindset = Rivals Leo to the point of potentially beat him or it goes back and forth

My favourite part was where Tweek said ‘it’s tweekin’ time’ and tweeked all over Spargo

its very close. imo currently its tweek/sparg0/acola in a tier of their own, finally dethroning leo (for the time being, anyways...), but theres multiple players i can think of who are close enough behind that id be comfortable saying that the #1 spot can still be taken by them in the future, including the goat.

Like dude can always bounce back, he only had a few not perfect results recently, like he literally went 24-1 at the LSI which was the most stacked tournament out there to prove a point that he ain’t washed. I feel like this community is too under the control of recency biases, at LSI y’all all were like “omg Leo #1 always he’s the goat we should never look down on him ever again” then the next tournament he sandbagged with Marth while mad high and got 5th and y’all literally jumped on the “omg he’s so washed Leo not top three anymore!!” Even if he underperforms, he’s always up for grabs at the number one best spot and shouldn’t be left out of any discussion for it. He’s not a tier under those three.

I'm pretty sure this is the first time in Ultimate's history, that 2 players face each other in grand finals 3 times in a row. The record was for Tweek vs Mkleo (Ultimate Summit 3, and Riptide), and Mkleo vs Gluto (Genesis 8, and Pound), but now we have Tweek vs Sparg0 (Mainstage, Scuffed World Tour, and Let's Make Big Moves). I wonder if we are going to see this at Genesis 9, it would be amazing.

He won the whole tournament without dropping any set, not even letting the reset to Spargo, absolute monster, so proud of Tweek and Sonix, really happy to see my two favorites players in the top 3 of a major! Definitely the best way to start 2023, can't wait for Genesis 9!
