Ойындар

What's up everybody I got another unboxing video for you guys today. Today I decided to try out this new cooling pad from llano. Going to unbox it and test it out on the Alienware m18 7900m laptop. Hopefully, it can bring those CPU temps down a little bit. But I hope you guys enjoy the video and if you have any questions or requests feel free to ask.
Here's a link to the cooling pad for any interested. www.amazon.com/Powerful-Turbofan-Radiator-Infinitely-Variable/dp/B0C69BVWGB/ref=asc_df_B0C69BVWGB/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=675689844684&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=12890814511918948797&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9016912&hvtargid=pla-2244708007881&psc=1&mcid=95ab63df029c33659245fbd89ac54f39

It's working. That CPU will boost as hard as it can with available headroom on temps/voltage. If you look at the CPU, you will notice that in your first test in Cyberpunk, the CPU went from 3.8GHz to 4.2GHz. With the cooler, it was much more consistently at 4.4GHz to just over 4.5GHz. The reason the temps stayed similar was because the CPU was using the extra thermal headroom to push harder.

I'm just too used to temp being lower = good I was not paying much attention to the clocks. But it's cool that it actually did something. I ended up not sending it back and still use it.

I have the Alienware M 16 R1 7945hx and RTX 4090 32gb 5200mhz kingston fury, and I use the iets Gt500 which is a weaker cooler than this but it is effective as its the 2nd best laptop cooler,, I used to have the asus g733 with 3070 ti and 12900h and it used to drop my tempreature by like 12c, but with the Alienware M16 it doesnt , and I agree with Berserkism, I play warzone and this game taxes the cpu also, and I notice better frequency between 5300-5400Mhz during gameplay and the wattage gets higher as more thermal headroom. With regards to the drops in frame rate caused mostly by cpu frequency drops during the start of a game even after install dell support software which is known to cause stutters. The solution that solved this for me was Fresh windows install and just install alienware command center. I hope this helps you, the 7945hx is a beast of a cpu and I can reach 215-230fps competitive settings with dlss quality on alienware 34 oled 3440x1440. @@XxViciousxX

UPDATE - well I took a chance and bought GT600 cooling pad for my Alienware 17 R4. .. I checked Temps of CPU and GPU without first, then with new gt600... it's ABSOLUTELY AMAZING cooling both CPU and GPU down 20/25'C. CPU no longer running on 100'c with watch dogs 2.... Maybe some large 18/19 inch laptop don't have air inlet in the middle bottom therefore don't work so well. For me it's a 'Game changer '..... hahahaha Previous comment before burying...m Many thanks for your video. Based on your results, I will not buy one of these. Pity, I was getting really excited. Mine seems to get most of its air from the top vent that's under the screen and next to the power button. So I don't really get much benefit other than cooling off my SSD and maybe my RAM. I think I'll probably take this cooler and try it out on my Asus G15 Advantage. Maybe do it vs the GT500 5000epm model and see which is better. I'm glad it's working great for you that's why I didn't say it's useless in my video I just said it did not work for me but said it would probably work for other people.

Power consumption is probably the biggest tell if there is a difference or not in cooling. Unfortunately, those newer AMD cpus already run close to their limit (heat density at this point is much worse than in older cpus) so even thou you might have better cooling, that additional 5W of power constantly going into the CPU is something you are not able to cool. As an experiment, I used a full sized desktop cooler mounted on my ASUS advantage edition (the same you have, 6800M) and the performance was exactly the same as without it (bottom panel taken off of course, the desktop cooler wraith spire was mounted on the vapor chamber, on the cpu, using thermal paste with no additional pressure applied to it.). And yes, the wraith spire metal was getting VERY HOT, so it was not a pressure issue.

I have actually since moved this cooler over to the G15 Advantage as it helps it more than this Alienware in this test. Have a video coming out soon. I also decided to include the GT500 as that's another very popular good cooler.

Undervolting your CPU doesn't really make it run worse, it will keep the same speed, just by using a bit less voltage. I don't know about Alienware, but my Asus Strix with a 13900HX I can undervolt in the BIOS by a little bit. I tend to run mid 80s playing Cyberpunk

  • @XxViciousxX

    @XxViciousxX

    3 ай бұрын

Ah, the only time I tried to undervolt a laptop was with my G15 Advantage. That thing had a super locked-down BIOS so I couldn't mess with any undervolting in the conventional way. Had to use something called Smokeless BIOS which let me undervolt but it caused issues like loss of performance and certain things like wifi stopped working. But that's probably where I get the misconception of it lowering performance. I will have a look at the BIOS I think Alienware/Dell actually lets me do far more than I'm used to on my old laptop. I mainly got this as I get random drops down to 20FPS randomly and a few people thought it was throttling so thought this thing would solve that unfortuanlty it did not lower CPU temps but did increase clocks so that's nice. Someone told me they had that happen to their 13thgen 4090 Alienware. They fixed it by reinstalling Windows. so I might try that got nothing to lose.

Ah this thing has an inverted motherboard. So I would have to take the entire motherboard out to do that. Since I messed up my Asus g15 Advantage so much I decided I am not opening this thing up ever. Besides to clean the fans when the time comes. If anything breaks on it I'm just going to blame Alienware and make them fix it (at least while I'm able to do so).

I would love to test them but both of my laptops don't seem to get any cooling benefits from cooling pads now. But even if this new one is a little better I don't think it's worse going out and dumping $115 on this new cooling pad if it's only possibly like 5C better (that's just a guestimate of what the temp difference could be.) So I'd just stick with that IETS GT500 unless it breaks.

This Ilano is almost the same with GT626 but based on my experience the GT500 performs better in cooling [--3c to -5c cooler] or I am not sure if it depends on a certain laptop model because of the vents design below the laptop. I am using Asus TUF Gaming F15 2022 model. Btw, ambient temp is around 25c.

This pad decreases my old FX502 temp by like 20c at max rpm. Usually l just use the lowest rpm of 300 which cool the laptop down for about 5c compare to fan-off. Max rpm is way too loud so using it outside of testing is not very practical for me.

  • @XxViciousxX

I got a 140mm fan with two fan guards and a USB to 3pin fan header and made my own little cooler for it. But if you don't want a janky looking diy thing like I made you could just buy a cheaper cooling pad like one of those $30-50 ones.

So as long as it's not throttling so bad that it makes games stutter I'm good. Or if it gets really bad I'll make Alienware fix it since it's still under warranty.
