I remember that day. It was the last thing we expected to hear that morning. Talladega and the race hadn't even started. I wasn't a Davey fan, he drove Fords, that's all it took for me in those days. But I recognized that anytime, anywhere, if you were racing Davey, you better have those ducks lined up or you will be seeing his rear bumper fade away in front of you. In any competition, you are only as good as the guys you beat. Anyone who happened to beat Davey to the line, always knew they beat one of the very best ever. HoF for Davey is way overdue.
