Living with MS: Craniosacral Therapy

I have been doing this therapy for 6 months and because it has been working really well for me, I decided to share my experience with you. I would like to let you learn more about it and I hope that this can be useful for you in some way.
My therapist was referred to me by another doctor that works for the International Center of Spinal Cord Injury at Kennedy Krieger IInstitute in Baltimore, Maryland and she is the person that helped me find the amazing cranial doctor that is currently taking care of me.
Craniosacral therapy is a holistic and alternative therapy that involves the manipulation of the skull bones and the sacrum to relieve pain and a variety of other ailments.
This therapy is used by many different types of doctors, massage therapists, chiropractors and physical therapists.
A craniosacral therapy session involves the therapist placing their hands on the patient, which allows them to tune into the craniosacral system. The practitioner gently works with the spine and the skull and its cranial sutures, diaphragms, and fascia. In this way, the restrictions of nerve passages are eased, the movement of cerebrospinal fluid through the spinal cord is optimized and misaligned bones are said to be restored to their proper position. Craniosacral therapists use the therapy to treat mental stress, neck and back pain, migraines and for chronic pain conditions such as fibromyalgia and many more!
Cranial Osteopathy was originated by physician William Sutherland, (1873-1954) in 1898-1900. While looking at a disarticulated skull, Sutherland was struck by the idea that the cranial sutures of the temporal bones where they meet the parietal bones were "beveled, like the gills of a fish, indicating articular mobility for a respiratory mechanism. This idea that the bones of the skull could move was contrary to North American contemporary anatomical belief.
Sutherland stated the dural membranes act as 'guy-wires' for the movement of the cranial bones, holding tension for the opposite motion. He used the term reciprocal tension membrane system (RTM) to describe the three Cartesian axes held in reciprocal tension, or tensegrity, creating the cyclic movement of inhalation and exhalation of the cranium. The RTM as described by Sutherland includes the spinal dura, with an attachment to the sacrum. After his observation of the cranial mechanism, Sutherland stated that the sacrum moves synchronously with the cranial bones. Sutherland began to teach this work to other osteopaths from about the 1930s, and continued to do so until his death. His work was at first largely rejected by the mainstream osteopathic profession as it challenged some of the closely held beliefs among practitioners of the time.
In the 1940s the American School of Osteopathy started a post-graduate course called 'Osteopathy in the Cranial Field' directed by Sutherland, and was followed by other schools. This new branch of practice became known as "cranial osteopathy".
The Cranial Academy was established in the US in 1947, and continues to teach DOs, MDs, and Dentists " an expansion of the general principles of osteopathy" including a special understanding of the central nervous system and primary respiration.
From 1975 to 1983, osteopathic physician John E. Upledger and neurophysiologist and histologist Ernest W. Retzlaff worked at Michigan State University as clinical researchers and professors. They set up a team of anatomists, physiologists, biophysicists, and bioengineers to investigate the pulse he had observed and study further Sutherland's theory of cranial bone movement. Upledger and Retzlaff went on to publish their results, which they interpreted as support for both the concept of cranial bone movement and the concept of a cranial rhythm.
Upledger developed his own treatment style, and when he started to teach his work to a group of students who were not osteopaths he generated the term 'CranioSacral therapy', based on the corresponding movement between cranium and sacrum.

Thank you so much! Unfortunately, not everyone is open to believe in things that have nothing to do with drugs, but I do believe in them and I see the benefits of the craniosacral therapy every two weeks and I know that I couldn't live without it! Thank you so much for coming and for writing! (and for believing in natural medicine!). have a good day, hugs Angela

Hi Andrea! I didn't know that you had tried something similar to help you deal with the MS symptoms! It's good to hear that it worked for you, but I wish that you could go back because I am sure that your therapist would be able to get rid of those bad symptoms again. I love this because it doesn't give me any side effects and because it takes care of the problems I have for quite some time and I don't have to take any pills! I wanted to tell people that they have more options in their care...

Hi Angela, This sounds very similar to the Manual Therapy I use to get. I was sent to him for horrible spasticity in my neck. He did a lot of what you are talking about here, finding different pressure points that affect different areas of your body etc. He help with my constipation as well, had horrible pain in my stomach and found that the muscle in there were stuck on the wrong position, so very similar. I wish I could afford to go back, since it has all come back again. Great info!!

Hello, Agelusa. I was watching your testimony and was in awe. I was wondering how you are doing today. I am studying craniosacral therapy in Belgium. To complete my studies I have to make a Thesis with a subject of my choice. My title for this work (translated): What Craniosacral Therapy could mean in the Treatment of the Illness known as Multiple Sclerosis". For this I wanted to gather as much Insights and Information as possible. This is how I stumbled upon your testimony and said to myself "wow, this is it! If now I could gather information from both sides, clients ans therapists… That would be a great foundation to complete my investigation. Hoping to hear from you and looking forward to your reply, From the heart, Walter

Hi, the cranial sacral therapy is a particular natursl therapy and it is different from other things and I can tell you that it ius working for me, STILL. Last year I almost died because of the medicine TYSABRI, and I never stopped going to my therapist and I do believe it helped me survive. Good luck at making modern doctors believe it, because, as you know, DRUGS are bad and natural things are way better. It is a natter of finding the right therapist and try it yourself. It is way better

Dear Cristina, I decided to make this video because I felt that it is important to share everything that I am experiencing and learning at this time. I want to give people more options for their care and I hope that many will try other therapies that might work just as well as the pills or even better! I think it's important to try new things and see if they can help us deal with the many symptoms of MS. Thank you for the kind comment and for watching my videos! Warm hugs, Angela

I am still doin the cranial asacral therapy and I am allso Italian and it was dr Zamboni himself that found that I have the CCSVI so I completely and TRULY BELIEVE in his discovery and I wish the medical world would stop catring about making money instead of helping patiens that suffer. MS does have a drainage problem of the cranium and I believe it completely! Thank you, Angela:)

@artworkseabedosig Thank you for the information, but I don't want to take drugs. I take only one and that is more than enough for me! :) I never took drugs before MS and I dream of a day when I will stop taking them. This is why I am using a natural therapy like this one. This works for me while the other ones don't really do anything. They only cover the problem and they don't fix it. But thanks for the help anyway! :) Have a good day! Angela

Oh, no! I don't believe as much in that and I actually never thought about it much...and no one asked me this question before!!! :) I am not sure if you are thinking that this therapy is related to those things or if you are just interested to know if I believe in withcraft!!! Well, I can tell you that I never payed attention to things like these and that I don't believe that this therapy has something to do with magical things! :) I appreciate your question and your honesty about this!

can you explain me what you mean please? sorry if I see your message so late, but as you might have seen from my other videos, by taking the aweful medicine called Tysabri, it caused me a lot of damage waking up a virus that most of us have dormant in our bodies and after what happened to me I continue to go and I believe that without the therapists's help, I wouldn't be here finally writing you, I hope you are doing well, take care, Angela:)

I ghope that more people will give this achance and a try because it's not that good to take drugs after drugs that, as we know well, help one thing, covering problems instead of solving them and they do damage our bodies in other ways. Why do yiou think thst phsrmaceutical companies are sio powerful and so wealthy? they do their best to convince people that drugs are the answer and I

Dear Angela (and all you, fellow MS sufferers...), I dont want to be impolite or crude and instead of just leaving a comment I prefer to open a dialogue, so I have a small question for you: Do you believe in witchcraft, spells, voodoo etc?

It is is very good of you to open a dialogue and thus opening you mind. Unfortunately by asking a question this way you are closing every opportuninty to it...
