Living with Hashimoto's Autoimmune Disease

I have officially been diagnosed with Hashimotos.
It’s an autoimmune disease, where your thyroid can bounce into hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism.
It’s been a hard one, it’s been a real hard one to swallow.
But this will now be part of my story that I share with you and hopefully share my healing journey of what this looks like and how I am stepping in to supporting myself even more. And at the end of the day. It first and foremost starts with me on apologetically, taking care of myself.
So I choose to move forward with the awareness, with more knowledge, more grace, more understanding, more self love, and more healing. Because at the end of the day, health is the most important thing. Mental and physical. So take this today as a reminder to slow down. Take care of yourself.

    I have Hashimotos. I basically had to advocate for myself for years telling doctors that I did not feel well. Finally after a doctor knew right away I had hypothyroidism, then I myself had to look into Hashimotos, which he then confirmed I had. It’s tough.

    I practically had to pull teeth to get the information out of the doctor that I had Hashimoto's when I saw the TPO antibodies numbers were high. I wanted to hear it for myself. I fired him. My regular doctor has no problem with testing the TPO antibodies at every blood test every few months when I have my regular blood work done. I tested myself on the foods I ate and I tried to find out how to fix it for me. I did. It was dairy products from the cow. Also, I discovered that vitamin D3 helps lower the TPO antibodies at a faster rate.

    Excellent presentation of this condition. I have been dealing for about 15 years and the journey continues Some days are very challenging but I focus on the great days Yes take care of yourself. Remember you cannot pour from an empty pitcher Make sure is focus on your blessings 🥰

    Thank you for sharing your experience with Hashimoto's. I have had my Hashimoto's for a long time, but doctors told me only to control the level of hormones, and 6 months ago I started my medications. But the thing is that I still feel fatigue, anxiety, depression, and joint pain. Thanks to such videos as yours, I found out information about gluten free diet and so many other things. I also don't feel alone, I can explain everything that happens to me, my tiredness and low energy. Thank you for what you are doing, it helps people feel hope that they can manage this disease❤

    Just found out I have Hashimotos too. It is very hard to find a provider that wants to help you where I live a rural Idaho. Thank you for sharing❤

    I was diagnosed about 20 yrs ago with Hashimoto's but just thought it was the same as Hypothyroid but with nodules, as diagnosed with both at same time. Recently I have been watching youtube and had no idea about what Hashimoto's is as never really did anything for it. except take daily levothyroxine. This video was very helpful to me. Wish I did not just take daily Synthroid but instead paid attention to listening to my body when it might have made a difference when I was younger. .

    Advocate for yourself but also let go of things you cannot control...like feeling you didn't do your best. If anything, our best shows differently everyday and as we navigate the disease and really become aware of how our bodies react and act accordingly we can only our best. We cannot be defined by the diagnosis. Thank you for sharing this story and of course, I totally sympathize. I didn't understand Hashimotos and assumed it was hypothyroidism so hearing other stories does help.

    My Hashimoto's will be in remission in four months. How? I removed all dairy products. I use almond milk instead. No cheese, sour cream, nothing from the cows udder. It has casein in it. Plus, I take vitamin D3 at 20,000 IUs once per week. It helps the TPO antibodies go down at a faster rate. I sure loved cheese but I can't consume it any longer.

    I am newly Dx with Hashimoto's (Aug 2023) - I am curious what criteria/tests your Dr. used to determine that you had Hashimoto's and that it was in remission? Inquiring minds want to know. I would love to get my Hashi's into remission. But how does one test for that - other than... basing it on how you 'feel' and the presence of symptoms. I am grateful for you sharing your journey for all, in the hopes that someone , like me, will see it and not feel completely alone. Peace, Light and Love to you and yours.

    It's the TPO antibodies (Thyroid Perioxidase antibodies). Look at the lab range on the paperwork. If it is higher than the lab range usually (0-34), you have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis the autoimmune disease. If it is in the normal range, it is in remission.

    New follower here 👋🏼 I was diagnosed with hashish May of 2022. It’s been such a confusing time. I’m not sure what I’m supposed to be doing and I think I’m in a flare now… it’s been so exhausting dealing with this and having two little ones to take care of. 😭 need to definitely learn more about this

    For me, I found out through testing my TPO antibodies over and over that it was dairy products that was causing my antibodies to go up. Plus, I found vitamin D3 helps lower it at a faster rate. I have a reaction to cow's milk in all forms. I stopped consuming it and take vitamin D3. My TPO antibodies are going down. By March 2024, I will be in remission. Then, I plan to wean myself off the thyroid pills.

    @MrsKunis Being in remission doesn’t mean you won’t need thyroid medication though.

    I was diagnosed a few years ago (not fun.) I find that getting angry about having a flare-up makes the flare-up worse and last longer (not fair.) So I feel for you. What have I learned? What works for us has a pattern but everyone’s “program” is different. We know a lot less about this condition than anyone will admit. If your endo won’t measure FT3 or only measures TSH, go elsewhere. It’s not clear that high or low antibodies means…anything in particular. You might have to pay 100% out of pocket to find someone who will listen to you. The non-medical interventions help (GF, supplements, etc) but I only started feeling tons better on a combination of T4 and T3. Once your thyroid is dysfunctional, so is your whole endocrine system. (So cis men- get your T checked.) It can get a lot better, but it takes a long time. Hope this helps someone…

    For me, gluten free is not even close to enough. I have to be grain free, dairy free, all carb free go feel well, it’s truly crazy. I eat meat and the brain fog disappears completely and I feel like I’m a different person.

    I do agree with you regarding the T3/T4, I even think T3 only is also beneficial for some.

    I just found out that I have Hashimoto’s yesterday evening. I reviewed additional blood test lab results after getting an initial abnormal thyroid test and it really scared me. I had to wait until I could get a health professional in the phone and I researched online about this autoimmune disease is. I’ve only had 12 hrs to process this but your video has helped me a lot. It now makes sense why I’ve dealt with strong depression after major life changes as a business owner and also anxiety. I’m a very active person and have always had a few extra pounds too… No matter how hard I try to get trim. It makes sense that it’s thyroid disease that I’m dealing with. I’m coming to terms with it and looking to speak with my primary doctor to see a specialist after the weekend. Thank you

    I have battled with hashimoto's disease for over 20 years. I have taken armour thyroid meds and it keeps my tsh in normal range. However, I wish I could reduce my TPO down, I have followed all kinds of diets but so far nothing works. So frustrated.

    I agree. My symptoms have been significantly reduced with meat based.. I even eat raw meat.. liver, too.

    The best thing to treat the hair loss is to change your diet immediately - remove all grains, and this includes wheat and corn, all of it, dairy, soy, sugar, etc. Eat red meat, raw beef liver, and make sure the thyroid hormone works. I highly recommend seeing a functional doctor.
