"Living with fatigue after Stroke" - Dr Dawn Simpson PhD

This presentation was originally recorded at the Stroke Recovery Association’s 25th annual Creating Connections Stroke Conference on Wednesday 7th September 2022.
In this presentation, Dr Dawn Simpson, PhD, will be addressing the topic “Living with fatigue after Stroke”.
Dawn is a lecturer in Physiotherapy with the University of Newcastle. Before her PhD, Dawn worked in public health for over 20 years in the UK and Australia. Her clinical experience is predominantly in Rehabilitation and Aged Care and her clinical research interest is stroke rehabilitation and recovery. She is interested in factors that influence sedentary behaviour and physical activity for stroke survivors, interventions that may improve post-stroke fatigue and health service models that could support improved rehabilitation and recovery outcomes.
Following the presentation, a group discussion was had about individual experiences of fatigue and how Stroke survivors and clinicians address this in real life settings.

This was a very good presentation from Dr Simpson. It really felt at times like she was talking about and to me. Many helpful comments from both her and the audience in this. Thank you for it.

Fatigue was a bit of a grueling day to day hurdle before my stroke. After, it's so much more challenging, it almost comes full circle and becomes easier to manage, maybe because now I absolutely have to.
