Had a great time here in November 2023. Drove the MK1 NSX, Impreza Type R and s30z (280z) Great experience and excellent staff, one of the best moments of my life to be honest.

Will be here next month man and am really hoping to to try that 964 Turbo out. I am genuinely baffled that a 19 y/o like myself is able to legally drive such a car especially in LHD haha, hopefully my Type R here in Australia has given me enough practice for a whole different machine like that 😅 Super helpful video man! That Kenmeri and 240Z looks unreal to drive.

Have fun and be safe! Definitely get familiar with some of the road signs and traffic light orders because it can be tricky at first. Otherwise, have a blast and be sure to take it all in👍👍

Planning on going to this next week! Should you carry cash for tolls and fuel during the run?

Yes! Definitely keep cash ready, tolls can run about 750 to 2000 yen each time so be prepared for that

Planning to do a core hakone tour too in December. How does the online booking processing work? Do they only open booking 3 months in advance?

I’m not sure tbh, best to just check the website and book as ahead as you can. It’ll be a fun experience though. Also, keep in mind that they will put a deposit hold on your card when you are there. Definitely factor that in, it might be around 500-1000 depending on what you do. After about 2-3 weeks, you’ll get the deposit back

Do you think the swift hakone (2hrs) or flash hakone (1hr) drive is worth it? I dont think I want anything longer than that lol.

I’d atleast do 2 hours to give room to see enough different things. Probably will be good if you’re stopping and taking pics too.

If you want the longer tours, do either the Core Hakone Drive or Ultimate Hakone Drive. Those tours last about 4-5 hours. They're expensive though depending on the car you choose to rent.

I loved driving the Kenmeri! It’s a raw car and since it’s older it may not be the fastest or most comfortable when comparing to the other options but I’m a vintage car fan and so it was perfect for me👍

I don't know how that old Skyline drives, but some cars like the AE86 have no power steering, traction control, or ABS. It will take time to get used to but they're fun and easy to adjust too. Everytime I go, I adapt pretty quick but struggle to re-adapt to my modern CR-Z when I go home. I have done these tours multiple times cause I have home field advantage (I have been living in Japan for 5 years now).
