C'est le quartier expatrié au nord de HCMV (district 2), à une dizaine de minute du district 1.

this isn't a cheap place to live unless you have money ofcourse . but for Westerner think they can get cheap stuff here and all that good luck . you have to go to others district . this is district 2 ( now thu duc city ) , this is place for people to retire so it's not that busy like the inner part of Saigon , you want to witness chaos in street life you go to Saigon not here or district 7 . lol , living in these place usually you have to have a job that you can work online . or place for retirement when you accumulate enough for your old age.

Thanks for your comment ! Sure, it's a district more suitable for expatriates. In Thao Dien, you are in a kind of expat bubble, some people do like it. But if you prefer the local vibes, chaos and the real Vietnam, obviously it's not in District 7 nor District 2, Thao Dien.

Hello Dan, yes you can find villas to rent with sharemates or by yourself if you have the budget :). Thao Dien has a huge concentration of French so a good place to be if that's what you are looking for !

I am going to relocate to Saigon but I feel nausea seeing those massive condominiums and me living in one of those. Aren't there any better places to live at still reasonable cost? 3-4 storey cosy places?

Arrondissement assez chère un peut surfé. Quand la saison des pluies démarre c'est tout le temps inondé là bas...

Salut, oui certains expatriés, principalement ceux qui ont des familles, aimeront avoir tout à côté. C'est toujours plus cher que d'autres quartiers puisque majorité des restaurants, cafés, ... sont à destination des expatriés.

@Ju, c'est vrai même encore récemment avec les rénovations des routes afin d'évacuer l'eau. C'est en effet l'un des gros point négatifs qui ne m'ont pas fait choisir ce quartier pour y habiter.

S'expatrier et aller habiter au milieu des expats, c'est triste. Moi, suis au Vietnam depuis un moment et je réside dans un quartier populaire district 3 loin des expats pour profiter de la vie vietnamienne : aucun intérêt de résider dans un quartier d'étrangers.

Saigon a des très bon hôpitaux vietnamiens et étrangers; faut pas écouter les médias en France qui disent tout le temps que le système médical est horrible en dehors de la France !!.. C'est faux, c'était peut être il y a dix ans !!.. Si tu parles pas le vietnamien, tu peux aller à l'hôpital français de Saigon district 7, j'y suis allée plusieurs fois déjà, très très bon service, rapidité/efficacité, super accueil, tous les docteurs sont formés à l'étranger : le service médical est bien mieux qu'en France en fait et pour le prix, c'est pas forcément cher et il y a des assurances que tu peux prendre pour la prise en charge des frais. Les hôpitaux viet sont bien aussi mais il faut parler un peu vietnamien sinon c'est difficile. Pour ton information, plusieurs pays en Asie proposent du touriste médical comme la Thaïlande, Singapore, donc les soins et prestations sont bcp mieux qu'en France mais ça les médias te le disent pas en France.

I thought most expats stays at District 7? Is Thao Dien a new place for expats?

Thao Dien (in District 2 : goo.gl/maps/EzKWpj8yc7ZiDMgc8) is also a huge location where foreigners live. District 7 is more for Korean rather Thao Dien more for westerners 🍻

Honestly, seeing the housing etc. I think Yangon Myanmar has far better choices I. Quality and surroundings. Cost is similar. I have been to „Saigon“ 3 times. But that was yeeeears ago. 😊

Look in Yangon at STAR CITY Condominiums or at Pun Hlaing Golf Estate, Villas and apartments and many other recent new projects!

Myanmar is very much behind and doesn't have the same level of facilities. Also with the current civil war, I would expect regressive economic conditions to persist for some time. I have been to both but Myanmar is a huge gamble and very high level of political upheaval.

How's the night life there ?

Nightlife is great in this part of the city : bars, restaurants, coffee open late. Great chill and vibrant vibes in Thao Dien.

it's a rich people's place so usually residential area are quiet at night not like inner part of city where everyhouse is some kind of shop or restaurant. so it's boring , but Thao dien has public place like shopping mall and bar but that's doesn't tell you the whole story of Saigon , that city known for it's vibrant through street in every corner not just in bar or shopping mall

The price is 95 - 115 triệu/m2 (VND), which one you have for 5k $/m2 a small size ? This project is definitely quite hot and got great expectations.
