Our Journey! How did we get here?
In the winter of 2019 we moved in to our self built van full time to begin living, working and travelling Canada. We quickly fell in love with chasing our dreams of adventuring off the beaten path, living off grid and being self sustaining. We drove our van thousands of miles through various countries-Canada, USA, Mexico & Guatemala. All of which we documented here on our channel, be sure to check that out! After many years on the open road we found ourselves 15 acres of remote woods on the East Coast of Canada where we are building a homestead and renovating our fully off the grid cabin. We are diving into this chapter of our lives in no experience, we're so happy we can bring you all along as we learn to do it all with our own two hands. Thank you for being here with us for cabin life, van life and all the in between!

What a beautiful week I spent at the cabin, 3 nights alone with the puppies was just so peaceful in a beautiful oasis. I really spent time on self care and grounding with Mother Earth. Bella(Bear) Izzy and I spent a lot of time taking hikes and swimming in the lake.. A true oasis, the cabin and property is full of beautiful happy, peaceful energy. No light pollution so the nights were so black and the stars and moon came to life.. Bella and Izzy were my watch dogs so I felt safe and happy.. Jazzy and Crystal have a beautiful cabin with a property full of beauty a true paradise…!!! Thank you for the restful space. Love mom/ Gram xoxo❤️❤️🐶🐾

Amazing progress girls !!! That being said, I wish you had salvaged those bricks since most seemed easy enough to pry off and didn’t have to be destroyed. Someone would have probably loved to use them or you could have stacked them outdoors fora possible future project. It’s just a small suggestion for you think about when you’re doing further deconstruction. Repurposing, Re-using, Recycling = Respect for resources and also helps to mitigate waste!!

Hello Ladies. Fairly new subscriber, 67 year old heterosexual male living in South Florida (probably not your typical demographic). Just wanted to let you know I thoroughly enjoy watching your adventure. It's great not watching so much fake drama and BS for content's sake. It's nice to see 2 hard working females, learning as they go along and enjoying yourselves so much. Your constant smiles are just uplifting and enjoyable! Good luck as you continue along your path. I love the look on Bella and Izzy's faces. I can almost read their minds. There's Moms building things, now Moms are tearing things down! Action packed, I can't wait to see all the different tomatoes. The UTV is awesome, I so want one.
Wow, so much going on!! The water harvesting gutters, the inside reno, the new garden...whew!!🤩😎 Once again, you girls are just killin' it💚🤍🌈 Stay safe, be well and see ya next time👋👋

Single mom with 2 kids and gma in tow and we’ve been in our little part of the forest for 2 months and it is WORK!!! So admire what you two are accomplishing. Thanks for inspiring me to keep going! Hugs💕✨
💞💞 Always a joy watching your show. I live in the Netherlands so it may not apply to Canada, but I noticed that you didn't lay any permeable matting under the sticks and logs to keep critters from digging up from underneath the plants. Also tomato plants shouldn't get rain soaked as it can cause blossom end rot. Probably best to either cover with clear plastic when it rains or keep them in the polytunnel. Gotta keep the deer and the rabbits out too plus the leaf eating bugs, slugs and caterpillars ... lots to learn, but knowing you girls, it won't take long before you're masters at gardening too. 🌹🌹
I love learning from your videos and the enjoyable scenery, but this video, hands down - Bella and Izzy seeing Grandma, oh that was so sweet! 🥰☺

Remember that level is ok for houses and inside stuff, but if you live where it rains, you want outside projects slightly unlevel to allow for drainage or runoff. If it's level the water will not leave and make things not last as long. Love watching yall 🙂

Tip from an old gardener - water your potted plants before you plant them if they're dry. It seemed like a lot of the tomatoes you planted had dry soil in their pots. If you don't, sometimes the root ball doesn't get wet after planting and watering. Love you guys!!
Really respect that you put the camera down to spend time with loved ones!!! 💙💛❤️

What a warm and wonderful vlog today. Hard work, playful moments, community connections and your sweet smiles say it all. I loved seeing momager and am glad you took some time away. Renewal is important. Loved so much Izzy and Bella footage. Bella on the platform reminded me of my dog Blanco when I’m making the bed. He insists on staying on it even as sheets float down on him. Stay safe (that Jasmine moment put my heart in my throat) and see you Sunday.
Van-Fam: Ergo-Tech is the very best caulk gun you will ever use. It’s light, durable, easy on forearms, and truly dripless. In the US we get them at Sherwin Williams paint store. Good luck.
Such a lovely episode again! Filmed so beautifully. Your confidence and go getter attitude is inspirational. Thank you! As an avid gardener, I would suggest adding a roof to your tomatoes if you're going to have a bit of rain throughout the summer. You don't want them to get the blight, as it's almost impossible to get that out of the soil again.

Hello ladies. My wife and I love your channel. Just a little bit of a tip…the green buckets the tomatoes were planted in, please save them so you can use those for your seeds to start over the winter and spring… Have a great week…Lisa and Tina
Luv those Juliet grape tomatoes, think you will too. You both seem to downplay the amount of work you have done but the fact that you accomplished so much with good humour is absolutely inspiring.
Excellent progress on the many projects. Can’t wait to see what kind of siding you choose and how you finish the inside walls. So exciting!
Busy busy you two are so busy. We love to watch you too. You ladies know how to get things done for sure. I can not wait to see what you guys do with that place. It's already looking great. Hugs from Michigan.
I learned this tip from another KZreadr: Fill your raised garden beds with logs and wood before filling with soil. It’s great for the bed’s ecosystem and saves dirt (ie money)
Your VLOGs are so much fun to watch!! And you are so full of energy!! My goodness! I think what makes your videos so special is your joyful approach to whatever you tackle. You totally deserved the break but I'm already anxiously waiting for next week's update.

make sure you use something like leaf guards on the gutters, or else you'll have a ton of leaves and pine needles (if they're in your area)getting into the containers and possibly clogging up
Well done girls really excited about the raised bed and so nice of neighbours to reach out. When your dogs were laying down and watching you when you, when you started to remove the OSB and that awful insulation they reminded me of my kids. When they would say what's he up to now! Was and am still doing DIY projects. They have homes and partners of there own now, but it took me back a few years when they were kids and lived at home.
Congrats on the new addition of garden beds Thanks for pluggin hugelkultur gardening. A little tip for planting is toss in a whole raw egg into the spot where the plant will go, some ppl use MYKES OR BONEMEAL, but I also use vermiculite mixed in with the soil. Another small trick is.... Eat a banana save the peel and place in a large jar.. Submerge in water for 24 hours then pour about a cup to half a cup of the "protein" juice at the base of the veggie plant. BUT I have had success growing in old tires. The tire just obsorbs more heat and after the sun goes down it stays warm for a little while longer. For the mold inside the cabin, we had a similar issue and we found this company in Vaughn. They sell this spray to remove and prevent more growth. But yes a vapour barrier as well It is called MMR. Hubby found them on line and they do deliver. At the end of the season I plan on purchasing a 22ft geo desic dome from artic acres. I think that is where u guys r heading. My size takes 30hrs to build . Ok back to my projects. Thanks for posting and have a wonderful week.
You guys continue to amaze me with all the projects you dive into. Great planning on your homestead, it will pay off in the future. Keep it up!

Definitely check out permaculture, lasagna composting. You can often contact local arbor or electric companies, and they'll dump chipped mulch for free, spread it out at least 8 inches thick over the land. It will retain water and get life started in the soil and smother grass. You have to wait a while to plant directly in it, so you can actually pull back a circle, add soil and compost, then plant into that.

Ladies, y'all are truly inspiring. Small things to make life easier: cut your lumber while its on the pile, moving to a sawhorse is extra work/double lifting, cut where the material was dropped. Another thing is with 6x6's, if you are going though one into another with galvanized stakes, drill out the first one and then drive the stake into the second. Faster work, easier on the back, and a logg handled sledge will drive those gigantic stakes faster. You two are killing it !!! Work smarter not harder and you will be over 500K subscribers before you know it. 🙂

So MANY good jobs, vanwives! One piece of equipment that might have made your gutter project a little less scary is called a "ladder stand-off." It attaches to the extension ladder and stabilizes it against the siding to help you work on something like the gutters on the eves. Check 'em out. A ladder stand-off might make some other project more fun...and quite a bit safer. See you next week! 🐾
