Wat lief aan het einde van je video! Zo mooi hoe je over Nederland en België spreekt. Dankjewel. I hope you can come back to The Netherlands soon. Stay healthy and don't forget your Dutch.
Hi, I live in New Zealand for 25 years now. Watched your video which was very nice. It is always good to hear some feedback on your country. Got teary eyed when you spoke Dutch at the end. Loved it🤗🤗
Wow, you speak Dutch well! It will be great to have you 'back' in the Nethetlands again.... Bless you!

Me, from the crowded suburbs of Amsterdam in Holland, was on vacation in the States and amazed by all the space u guys got overthere! I travelled for 4 months on the western side of America, but the state that made the greatest impression was Utah. The natural beauty, the climate, the people and ofcourse the good ol' American spirit. If I ever move to the states, it will be overthere by you guys!
Funny to hear how you talk about the weather! As a Dutch guy, I never noticed that is so bad for foreigners! Nice vid!

Hah! I meet some Dutch conscripts up a mountian in Glen Coe. They were complaining about the weather. Shame.
I like the way they say things strait out. When you get a compliment from a Dutch person that will always count for more then if you get a compliment from a American. Because when a Dutch give you a compliment, you will know that it is true. :)
I like your video and perspective! Only the alarm each first monday of the month at noon is mainly for other treaths. If there would be a fire for instance at place where toxics came free. They are only used (very) locally. The risk of flood is actually very low, an area like Amsterdam is protected against a 1 in 10.000 year weather/flood event.

Yeah, it's just a Civil Defence system also for chemicical spillage etc, etc, And there is also a text alert for your mobile phone which will replace eventually the siren system.

You cracked me up with the alarm story....Love it. You gave a pretty accurate description. . Awesome. ^^
The weather in the netherlands: All four seasons in just one day.
Great to hear you been in Breda my hometown only the carnaval 10 days wow i think i will not survive 😂😂 its from friday till Tuesday and for some people at wednesday haring happen but i dont like haring eighter. I hope you had a good time here 🤗 Greetz from Breda-noord 😊
This summarised the Dutch and Dutch-speaking Belgium's pretty good. You are blessed to be in Breda at carnaval. It originated from 'feasting at the last days' before fasting until Easter. As you described, the "Dutch way" and the "Flemish way" have a blend in Brabant and Limburg I think, don't you? Actually the monthly sirens on the first Monday at noon are just a check if working properly. They are for a general meant alarm: go inside, turn on the radio and hear instructions.
That's a pretty accurate description of the Netherlands you gave here, you're still very welcome and know you will always fit in with us. Hou je goed!
Huge respect for learning a foreign language knowing you'll be there for a short period of time. Very nice vid about your findings and your dutch is pretty good !
Nice video. And you send out a lot of positiveness. I hope you enjoyed your time in both countries.
The Air alarm is from the Second World War in time of air raids. Then it meant to be used in case of a nuclear attack during the Cold War. After 1989 it remained in service for disaster warning. In earlier century church bells were rung in case of floods.
so glad to see people like stampod :)
It's funny to hear how you saw the Netherlands! I never knew that the weather was that bad 😂 About carnival, we don't just celebrate it in Brabant and limburg, but also in Groningen the villages/city's near Germany celebrate it too. Overall I liked your ending too! The pronunciation is really good for someone who's been in the Netherlands for such a short time!
Herring is fermented, not really raw. We love it. We love drop/licorice also. It’s often raining in the coastal regions. The southern and eastern parts are much much dryer. Carnaval is from Friday to Wednesday. The southern catholic part of the Netherlands is quite different and much more like the Flemish way of live. The province of Limburg, where every village has its own dialect.
@Dutch3DMaster

Honestly though, when there is bad weather like excess amounts of rain the eastern and southern parts tend to have it bad...I've rarely seen small pieces of streets getting flooded like I see on the news during those downpours.
@palantir135
3 жыл бұрын
@@Dutch3DMaster due to climate change the weather has become more extreme and therefore rain showers and thunderstorms are heavier but also shorter. In average, the eastern and southern parts of the Netherlands have a shortage of rain, temperatures in summer have become much higher which leads to more evaporation and therefore the groundwater levels are far below ‘normal’. The western parts get much more rain because they are near the coast.
Amazing accurate analysis. Well done! 💙
A small remark: on the 1st monday on 12:00 the alarmsystem is tested and the sirens will sound. This system is ment for situation if there is a (greater) danger,. The test in all regions, so we all know that the system works...

Wow! Your Dutch sounds really good! Nice vid! I subd!
Nice video and loved your Dutch ending! Sounds like a wonderful 18 months!
Yes we have in the Netherlands plenty of it, water and wind. We don't fight against it we make the best of it. En jouw Nederlandse is prachtig hoop je komt ooit weer terug het beste voor je. Ps : mis je het fietsen al ?
the g in the netherlands is different as well. brabant where you was we also use a soft g. limburg even softer. and belgium is maximum softness.
goed heel mooi.dank je 😊
Wow je outro klinkt geweldig!! :)
Yeah, the weather... When some project doesn't go well or life throws you a curve-ball then you also have 'tegenwind'. 'Tegenwind hebben' is a common Dutch expression.
The wind is always a head wind while riding a bike. You create your own head wind while riding on your bike. When you ride at 15k/h you have a 15k/h head wind. The curse of the biclyclist!
Weather, we have a sea climate, bike paths are real roads, most rain falls in june/july, come in august :)
I really love all the nice words! We Dutch could act a bit more like that.
Hahaha. Hahaha. Welkom in Nederland... Thanks for the video.. Was fun to watch.
The wind really is (almost) always against you. As long as windspeed is below your biking speed: you will bike against the wind. For example: you have 8 km/h wind in your back, and you bike 12 km/h, you still 'feel' 4 km/h wind against you. Only if the wind is faster as your bike, AND (more or less) from the back, will you actually feel a back-wind. In all other cases: you will feel a head-wind.
Fantastisch, jouw einde in het Nederlands. Top!

First of all herring as we Dutch eat it is not raw, its fermented with salt. Secondly Herring as we Dutch eat it is delicious
Those alarm are also still from war. It's a general alarm system. Yes for when dams break. But if there is war or something else bad happens they ring the alarm. Some elderly are freaking out every 1rst Monday of the month because it reminds them of war 😔
The alarm is not for the water bit for airstrikes
- 90 % of the time it does not rain. Far from always. - By average there falls about 840 milimeter rain. That is about 2 milimeter a day. - Usually 'Oktober' is the most rainy month. 🤓
She's so pretty
Carnaval is officially only 3 days, not 10. In practice, folks will celebrate more days though; at least adding the weekend before it.
The alarm you hear on every first Monday of the month has nothing to do with the water or sea level. ( Yes, if something happens) Believe it or not, but it is a relic from the cold war. And we decided to keep it.
Only 1/3 is below sealevil, the east , the nice part of the country, is above sealevil... Alarms go off every first monday NOON at 12:00h, they test the alarm than, for if the Russians attack ;)
the sirens are a cold war relic it can be used for other calamities.
