This is making me super emotional. I am Mexican American (Texan) and my mami is in Texas and I live in England now. I have only seen my family 2 times since COVID. The second time I went it was strange because it didn’t feel like my home anymore. Now I’m crying. Love knows no distance. I am very happy here in England with my husband. Also like you, I make food when I feel homesick. Thankfully my husband loves Mexican food. He spent 6 months in Puebla. So I always say he’s British but he’s from Puebla. ❤

Exactamente, es un choque cultural muy grande para los q vivimos aquí en EU, xq dejamos familia, amigos y tradiciones, lo peor es q si alguien se enferma o muere y no tenemos los papeles legales para poder ir y darles el último adiós, esa es la gran tristeza que muy poca gente americana puede entender, Candice a logrado vencer muchos obstáculos en su vida, por el gran amor que existe en su familia y lo demuestra día a día, es increíble ver la forma de cómo se adapta al país al que tuvo que emigrar por amor y por injusticias de leyes americanas!

My mom stayed behind in Mexico for a while and then the time came for her to come to the United States. She was beyond sad but as your mom said her mom (my grandma) thought the same…families have to stay together, even if it’s in another country, so my mom moved to the USA and they are still married!! I wish you nothing but the best in Mexico it’s a good country.
